1:52 That shot of Hangman is reason number 2000 why this movie is perfect. He may be arrogant and cocky, but those are his friends getting killed out there. The devastation they show on him, listening to his friends get picked off one by one while he's trapped on that carrier, unable to do anything. He doesn't want to fly after them to chase for glory (even though he acts like it) he just refuses to sit there and do nothing.

Underrated.1.5 billion in box office revenue(highest grossing film in Cruise's career) only behind Avatar the way of water(Everyone was waiting for it for 13 yrs. In fact it's probably this wait which is the reason behind it not generating as much hype as it's prequel.) in 2022. Is that underrated lol.It's fairly rated.

I get this is a movie, but correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t the helicopter pilot commit a warcrime, or just a crime in general? Isn’t it illegal to fire upon an enemy pilot who’s ejected and/or without a functioning aircraft?

Pretty much. Firing on an ejected pilot while they're still in the air is 100% a violation of the Geneva Convention (Protocol I, Article 42 [1]). If they're on the ground, they have to be given a chance to surrender first, unless they're openly engaged in a hostile act themselves. (Protocol I, Article 42 [2])

There was no one in the plane with Rooster. Him and Maverick were in one-seater airplanes each. The others were in two-seater planes. Phoenix and Bob in one, and Payback and Fanboy in the other.
