The bundled up spectators in the stands reminds me of the Northwest Nationals in Seattle. So many cars "in memory" of somebody. Is Aussie racing more dangerous?

No we use the exact same safety equipment as the us. The 3 black santo rapisarda cars all have it on them but only those 3 because rapisardas son passed away in a top fuel years ago.

I think its more that its a small scene and teams are often family run so when people pass on their teams drive for them.

that last race was a little sad
