Love your content guys, keep it up!
Dope podcast as always guys! I learn something new every week 🤘🏽
Fl studio and creating music are like therapy for me, and then my wife starts talking to me. Session over.
Fםr me personally, I'm a one-take guy and my reason for not resorting to combing is that I'm a visually impaired artist so I can't dive into too many details when it comes to layering combing or chopping vocals with that said huge shout-out to Larry Ohh! Ya comb me
I started producing in 2016, bought a MIDI keyboard in 2017, and to this day I've only used it about 10 times I'm just so comfortable with the laptop keyboard, and most of the music I make doesn't require 'realistic' velocities, so I have no need for it
Starbucks! I been binge listening to the podcast on Spotify. Appreciate yall dropping gems 💎 best podcast out by far 💫
Thanks for the key tips and WOW!! Simon sounds like he could be a music production genius.
20:25 Its room mics instead of having an auxiliary room send its casually better to mic up the room too, the slight time differences do a lot, Thriller BGV were stereo mic'd
I have learned so much from you guys on this podcast. Ive been using FL since 2003 and ive learned more in the last 3 months from than i ever did the entire time ive been using it. Thank you guys so much. STARBUCKS BABY!
ohhh! okay.. was wonderin how you wearin all that in this weather & im in northeast pa. it jumped to the 80's before i could have my morning coffee ;) You Go RI!
This is great discussion! I love comping vocals. My presets to record are always just organizational based because I love just producing different ways constantly and daws honestly. I produce differently everywhere from keyboards to vochlea

I just subbed cuz the mouse gems. I been using FL since FL 4 and once you guys showed the mouse wheel stuff I was flabbergasted 😂 time to get some Starbucks and use this mouse wheel til it rolls off.
Another great podcast ep. If possible please have this type of visual format for the podcast.
Starbuck! I definitely learned something new today! Thanks 😏
STARBUCKS ...SHOUT OUT TO YOU GUYS, YOU ARE SPREADING AMAZING GEMS
Startbucks 😅 nice mouse shortcuts 👍
If I’m using a lot of plugins I’ll print to audio and then delete the midi track to save on CPU usage. Also it’s really nice to have control the volume of the audio like lower parts in the verses and then increasing them in the hooks to sound more full. Used to do this by automation. So much easier to print to audio and work either each 4 or 8 bar loop instead
When you are recording more than one signal for a live recording, with different mics or with the example you were talking about with mic recording something that you are also recording with a direct in from a guitar or amps, you can do a lot of nice stuff. But you have to start thinking about phase cancellation and other weird phasee/flanger kind of effects. Even of you recorded two things live, mic positions and 'direct-ins' all have different timing on how fast those things are making it to being recorded. You may have to zoom in as far as you can in the track mode to just slightly as possible adjust the tracks timing relative to each other to get the timing right. You also will probably need to eq and/or panning the layered tracks to not have all the same frequency range layered once the timing is right to get rid of the rest of the issues.
Starbucks!!! Love the cheese danish

Sun moon and STARBUCKS NEED THOSE COURSES
There's a reason for splice comping and I like to do It more to have a propper take with the best possible outcome, for the Artist to have as a reference and try to One-take it. If not possible, at least we're gonna have a much more consistent take off of that reference after we try. This will get the Artist closer to the reference and he might have new ideas, from that, either for background vocals or harmonies or even for the Main take. Everything to get you closer to a solid final product and something the Artist is satisfied with. Some people are emotional and want to capture the deeper nuances of the take, you cannot splice that into existance, other than some minor tweaks, but there's also very Technical artists that want a clean take and sometimes you need a reference and some splicing to achieve it. It has been done a lot, its a tool and no one is forcing you to use it. Either way just make your art the way you love it. That's what it is about. ❤
I follow simon , this mate he def a beast 🔥💯
QUESTION about RECORDING in FL is there a way to Pre Click/ Pre Punch In like they do in Pro Tools when they are tracking vocals i want to speed up my vocal tracking and been able to pre punch in while still recording

If you are an engineer getting paid hourly, what is the point of arguing with somebody about the efficiency of the process? If you have already made a per song arrangement for your pay and the longer it takes to get it done is how much time it takes out of your life w/o making more $ for it, your best bet is to save your breath from the arguments and just keep it rolling w/the recording and then once you know you have got every line right btw all the takes you make the take that you think sounds best and then show the person what you mean instead of describing why it will be better. If they don't get it, charge an hourly rate, moving forward, and let them do them. There is an advantage to getting a good take before you move on, if you don't take it to extremes, because there is less work on the back end with editing and as a vocalist you don't have to trust all the different people's aesthetic that may touch it after if you are sure which take is being used and it's not getting 'Frankentsteined' together by somebody else. Especially when you aren't there.
Starbux
STARBUCKS. Yo Larry, what if you have a segment that you field listener questions? Take a few FL or production questions people ask and talk about them. I feel like that would be a dope addition!

But now as a producer I got so many different questions and levels of overthinking simple questions hahaj
