A general tip as well is to not "expect" a complete win. You are on a malfunctioning ship, ill-equipped and surrounded by perfect killing machines and possibly traitors. For me, I want the win...but survival is a good goal too. I a goal of routing the ship to earth and it was wrecked by another player. So at the end, a different player was going to be able to hit their goal and needed to escape. Two turns earlier...I got into an escape pod and told him I'd wait for him. He doubted me but ran towards the pod. I did wait for him and we jetted into space. It felt good to survive and help someone else. THAT is what Nemesis is all about: freedom to create stories

A very good point! Though there are plenty who will only consider a complete success to be a "real win."

I was going to say that waiting for the other person was better. I then realised your objective was get the ship to earth or kill all other crew mates. So helping one of them escape would give an extra witness to your characters failure to get the ship to earth. I would generally weigh the completion of the primary objective over survival. So you get a partial win if you complete objective and then die to hyperspace jump. You likely don't get a partial win for escaping the ship (at least not if you leave prior to the last 3-5 turns). The reasoning for this is that due to a significant portion of player objective requiring kill everyone else or a specific player, someone hibernating/ ejector podding with no possible way to complete their objective should be heavily discourarged as it is equivalent to you effectivly throw the game for yourself and another player. Obviously if the ship is about to jump/ explode then it's more acceptable to use the escape pods.

@@RTFM That's true but I reckon you better "bang for buck" if you treat Nemesis as "journey" not "destination"

Played a game last night and both me and my buddy got off the ship via cryosleep and escape pod. I like the comment that only worry at 2 or 3 contamination cards. We both had 1 contamination which were infact infected and we BOTH drew them on our 4 card pick! Was halarious, thanks for the great content.

So far we have found that having 4 players is best too, seems kind of weird to consider player count a strategy in a non cooperative game, but having 2 pairs to go out works well. If you have pairs of fighter/repair person then you have good efficiency. 2 people in the same room may have to make noise rolls though, so make sure to hold onto cards that let you run.

Tks for the tips! Nemesis ia such an amazing game. Even when everything goes wrong, you put smile in your face and say: "ok, how can I get out of this situation?"

During my first round (solo), I rushed to the cockpit to make sure it was set to earth, but got covered in slime on my way. As I was heading to the showers, a breeder started harassing me, crawling in and out of the technical corridors.

I like to repair a malfunction early if I find it. It usually can be done pretty easy and then, at least I know, I've taken care of one or two before things start getting hairy.

My 1st game as soldier was 2 days ago. Had quest to leave in droppod and 7 items. I had extra gun at one point with 3 shots and reroll. Used all ammo on both weapons, but kiled 2 adult aliens. Finished game with killscore of 3, 8 items, in perfect health. No alien hit me even once, didn't loose my armor, I just roleplayed entire game. The only dude who also won was scientist who was fighting several aliens and fortunatly last one ran off, then he menaged to get into cryochamber and go to mars (his quest) due to good rng on engines

@@RTFM I definently wouldn't every play 5 players as full coop 18/21 chance you get stuck with both; the ship must reach earth and destroy the queen/nest or destroy the ship. Which are obviously somewhat incompatible objectives particuarlly the queen killing ones since her spawning is random and she is pretty bulky. I don't think i would ever play the full coop mode since with 2 players there is a 1/21 chance you get; the ship must reach earth and kill the queen which is effectivly impossible with 2 players. I would make a reasonable prediction that is likely harder to win a coop game that a semi coop game, assuming that your partner decides to pick the more cooperative of their 2 hidden objectives. The main reason cooperative seem's kinda iffy to play is that aside from the take the blue guy to the surgery objective, it's just the semi-cooperative objectives with some removed. Obviously if your playing with people who have a tendency to backstab you then you would want to play cooperative, but they likely don't want to play cooperative due to the whole betraying each other thing. Additionally playing full cooperative has a high tendency to turn the game into a solo game with one overbearing player making everones decissions, since there is generally going to be a correct play in each instance which means that lesss skilled players will be forced to make the correct moves as otherwise they are actively causing everyone else to lose the game. From the same reasons cooperative would likely be better for the very first playthrough as it would allow more experienced players to guide the newer players on how to play the game what sort of moves they should make. Additionally they learning what's required for the objectives so when the move to semi coop they have a better idea of the diffculty of completing specific objectives.
