Top doctor remains brain cancer-free after a year

Top doctor remains brain cancer-free after a year
Australian doctor Richard Scolyer (57) has a good news! He was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain cancer (glioblastoma) with a typical survival rate of less than a year. Dr. Scolyer, a pathologist, received an experimental treatment based on his own cancer research. A year later, he is still cancer-free! He recently had an MRI scan, and anxiously awaited the results. Thankfully, there were no signs of the cancer coming back.

My Mother had Glioblastoma in 2006. Her first symptom was a seizure in May and she was gone in August. It was wrapped around major cranial arteries. Kaiser didn’t do chemo on her, maybe if she was younger they would have tried chemo. Radiation was started @ 4 weeks AFTER DX. Her decline was rapid after it stopped. She was a healthy 84 yr old, not on any medications. When the Neurosurgeon told Mom she was terminal, her first response was, “This must be the hardest part of your job”. She was always looking out for others.

One thing that caught my attention was the fact that he now exercises vigorously… 19 miles of jogging. That makes me think he is a regular exerciser…. And a health nut in general. And while exercise alone is a factor in survival in regards to cancer, it also makes me wonder what else he has been doing in regards to improving his metabolic health. My point is if this guy is a Health nut it may not be his new medical therapy that’s causing the improvement.

Sadly she ended up getting an aggressive cancer that shriveled her to less then 80 lbs before she died. Dr Scolyers treatment interests me. I’d sure like to see the therapy he used to cure himself. Thanks for offering to talk about it some more. I’m definitely interested in how it works.

Normally the standard treatment means surgery first. In this case the doctor was willing to be the guinea pig, fully understood the risks (better than 99% of people would understand adequately), so permission was given to try his treatment. It will probably be a long time before this is available to the general public - usually requires human trials with multiple patients. As soon as trials are available people can volunteer. Let's hope it happens sooner than "normal"!

Dr Been, Thank you so much for putting out a video of future hope for people who acquire this insidious cancer. My son’s future MIL has a glioblastoma and has been given no hope. It breaks my heart. What do you think about alternative treatments such as coreolus versicolor and ivermectin? Have you heard of anything other treatments that are accessible right now? Bless you and thank you so much

Pretty sure that this is the type of Ca that the very popular Gord Downey of the Tragically Hip rock band in Canada passed away from in 2017. A great loss. It would be so wonderful if a cure could be found.

This is really really good news. The cure might not be complete yet, but the huge change in the response of the tumor is promising. Let us hope for more of good and precise progress, and no hustle and hurry that might inject disorder in the project. Thanks so much to everyone involved. Double congrats to Dr. Scolyer !

KETO DIET. I just changed my diet. After two years and 12 rounds of chemo, plus daily dose, has me wiped out and finished. I’m not living life, I’m sustaining. I don’t have answers, but I’m stopping all the chemical cocktail potions and if a clean diet doesn’t work, then I’m no longer for this life. Why bother? Breath while you can and always do good for others ❤

Unfortunately surgery remains the best indicator of prognosis. That's problematic if the lesion crosses eloquent areas of the brain. Molecular profile is the next most important thing in prognosis.
