Nicely done, must look into that adapter for my Garmin Zumba LM 595

I really rate the quad lock too, had one on the CRF but no damper so it messed up the phone, when I brought one for the Tiger (CRF was nicked) I opted for the damper and the charger. The only issue I had was when it was pissing down on my way from Calais to Germany, I did not have the phone cover fitted and the rain was changing what I wanted the phone to be doing - sharing my location, putting the camera on - nightmare. I even have a naff video of me installing it The XR does look nice though !, like the exhaust. Ian Back on Two Wheels

Indeed John. I have one fitted on my 1250RS - same BMW nav cradle. Wasn't expecting much as it was £12 from China, but 7500 miles and 13 months later it still works a treat. You still take power from the cradle but its via one of 2 USB ports supplied on the adaptor. Worth spending a further tenner for a quality short lead to connect to your phone. I use MRA Navigation on the phone and suffer far fewer issues than I did with my Garmin. As for the Nav 6 - bloody expensive paperweight in my opinion. Oh, although I don't have an Apple phone I still use an old Android phone for just nav duties rather than my current one, just in case vibes are an issue for the camera.

Big fan of Quadlock and SW Motech here too, Puig screens great to replace OEM versions…

MRA Vario screen would work well. I have one on my GS and have had one on a previous ADV style bike.

@@thelikeablerider8800 It was just pure luck , the dealer close to me had 2 triple blacks on the floor. I’m in the UK (Kent) and the local BMW dealer had 4 Triple blacks come in.

I traded in my gs1250 for the xr1000 te after alot of video research. Your video made up my mind. Was not sure at first if i had done the right thing. I never liked the look of the GS, in any model, but the comfort levels were great. The XR is less comfortable but looks and sounds better in comparison. Only main gripe with the XR is the mirror vibrations at motorway speeds. Was hoping new bar ends might help?, but not sure .I cant believe bmw engineers would let this bike go through into full production without trying to sort the problem. I fitted the givi crash bars and purchased the bmw panniers as i dont want any scaffolding on the bike!! The panniers are expensive but great quality and easy to fit and remove, look good on bike too. Thanks for your videos.

Great stuff Graham! I never found vibrations to he an issue, even so on my 2016 bike. I did fit heavier bar ends to that bike which helped smooth things out, but like I said it never annoyed me. I find the vibs are the new bike to be improved, altgough I rarely ride on the motorway so couldn't really tell you if mine does it. Hope you have a great time with the XR👍😜

My mirrors are unusable at 5,500rpms on my 23 XR. Now, that's 80mph and most may not be able to cruise there. In the Southeast US, interstate speed limits are 70mph and everyone is driving at least 85...

i had a s1000r 2019 for a week on loan in 2019 from allen jeffries and they are a rocket the 2022 xr is like that but more confy touching a ton is way too easy not that i would ever do that but also by setting road mode it turns into a gentle beast with quite cute manners the tech on the bike is off the scale and of course there is the bm build quality hope you get one pal

I use a RAM ball joint mount, which is secured into the handlebar clamp. Then ordered the quadlock ball joint mount, which is compatible with RAM, also ordered the anti vibration damper, it all screws together and away you go.

The largest "Pro Gs" does fit the XR, but I use the "Pro City" as my go to tour Tank bag👍

Hey @TheLikeableRider, sorry i respond to an one year old video of yours. I've been going back and forth through your vids to see what parts you've used to make your bike yours. I still had a question for you if I may: i do like the bike a lot and I've ridden it quite a few times, but there is one thing i dislike. For being a sport-Tourer, the way the seat is tilted/angled forward, gives me discomfort on long trips. Did you change anything to your seat? Or do you know if there are better seats for the XR and which one would you prefer? Maybe an idea for a review video in the future. Love your vid. Happy Holidays soon!

The seat is the one thing over time that has been bothering me. Initially I found it fairly comfortable, but on longer trips not so much. Because its sculptured you sit in it rather than on it, which promotes a very neutral sitting position. Not being able to move about on it makes longer rides more of a struggle, so I'll be looking at having it reupholstered.

The new exhaust does make the bike sound better. Did you need to do anything else on the bike like flashing the ecu to make it work properly or does the bike adapt itself?

Its a 26 or 27mm hole, tells you everything you need to know in the instructions, luckily I had a drill bit at home. Really wasn't a difficult job, I laid the fairing on the carpet floor, and used a wood block under the part that had to be drilled.

Hi Del Yes sad the SD has gone, but loving the Beemer! XR is definitely not bland, just have to ride it different to find the enjoyment, which it has bucket loads of! Handling is a joy, and easy to ride. On my last ride out I was averaging 6ltr to 100km, not sure what that is in mpg. That should come down slightly once run in nicely.

Keep the screen buddy I have about 6 at home and just went back to oem, looks the best and less buffeting. Bmw engeniering 😉black you won't see that much clear when you really pushing you can see much better front of you. Nice vid

Blacking it off won’t give us viewers a nice view either. There was a time the Missenden flyer borrowed a bike with a black screen and there were plenty complaints. I’m afraid that since you’re not alone riding you might have to consider us riding with you mate lol.

Regarding the lost or poor audio on the footage, I would run it at higher speed with just background music. It can still be helpful and entertaining that way. I'd Watch it. ☺ keep up the great stuff. Still difficult to swallow the change from duke to BM. Though I've been there like I Said before

i collected my brand new s1000xr from chester motorrad last saturday i had bought the oem rad guard kit seperately and i was in the are mid week so i cheekily asked them to fit the guards as i was so not happy about riding her with those very exposed rads i agree with you should be factory fitted mines like yours but red tank top also i have bought same engine guards as yours just waiting for them also i have ordered antiglare tft screen protector still riding around with the factory temp protector salesman had removed the original so i had him nick one off another bike i am intending to baby this dream machine

Yes I did, but was the same with the stock mirror position. I don't worry about it that much.

For the utter thrills the KTM, but for reliability and dealership service the BMW. The XR is still an utter weapon though. You need to ride them both and see what you think.

This is a very good video! Actually wanted to see the SW Motech Micro Pro tank bag on the R1200rs, but I guess (I'll double check) the shape of the tank would be similar. I'm in between two minds on micro and daypack for the trip to Alps. Do you think the Micro one will accommodate a wallet, powerbank, some bike docs and tissues and cables ( and small bottle of water)? Or should I divert to the Daypack? - I have a full set of bmw panniers on the RS... so I just need a bit extra for the stuff that needs to be with me... I also have a Quadlock phone mount (with dampener and wireless charging). Although this combo works great, it is a pain when it rains to do anything on the phone ( this was mentioned by someone else here in comments). That's why I'll give a connected ride cradle a chance, so that operating map etc... is possible via the wonder wheel. Fingers crossed it will work... 😅 Great video! 👍🏻

The Pro Micro would fit everything you've mentioned other than the bottle of water, so I would recommend getting the Pro Daypack for that bit of extra space👍

I don't find it uncomfortable, but it does encourage and very neutral seating position, and prevents you from shifting weight while cornering. You'd have to go custom if you didn't want that.

Dude am I doing something wrong. I keep pressing my lock button on the key fob but it doesn’t indicate by lights flashing g or a sound. Do I have to turn it on in a setting?

Hi The new bike has been refined, and updated with the new TFT display, which I love, and has slightly better low down torque, but remains fairly similar. Me personally, I like the later bike more, as I did own the 2016 model too. All down to your budget and personal taste I suppose👍

Its from Quadlock, and mounts to the bike via RAM ball joint mounts. You can mount the ball joints pretty much where you want, and with the extension arms you can angle the phone how you'd like.

Do you believe that the crash bar fits with the extra bmw fog lights ?

I couldn't say for sure, but you could remount them to the crash bars if they don't.

If you have a gps. What's the need of your phone holder? You can use bluetooth to answer calls or listen to music.

I know most people fit rad guards on the XR, but I never did, 5 years and no issue, my thinking is anything that will hit the rads will likely be small and cause no damage. So far so good, fingers crossed. (PS. don't you need to change your logo to BMW headlight?!)

Don't expect too much from the GSXS regarding a sporty seat position. It's just a faired GSXS, which can't be claiming a sporty seat position (I've had a GSXS myself).

@@thelikeablerider8800 that’s very true! It’s not an overly expensive fix but later iPhones camera 12 and above swaps are prevented by apple in software for self repair, sadly if it does kill your camera it will continue to do so :(

Riden it a few times, it's a big old machine! Did a tour in Spain on the normal GS and really like it, can't really see then need for the GSA, if you're riding in Europe there's petrol stations everywhere.
