How to mount a SHAD Top Case SH58X or SH59X On a 2020+ S1000XR
This instruction video shows you how to mount a @SHADUSA top case, @SH58X or @SH59X on your 2020-2022 @BMWMotorradUSA M package motorrad/motorcycle S 1000 XR.
In order to mount the top case mounting plate or top case carrier on your BMW luggage grid, you need a mounting plate adapter, which can be purchase from SHAD too, the part # is W0SX10ST.
1. You need to remove the BMW top case carrier (If you had one installed)
2. Mount the mounting plate adapter from SHAD using the supplied hardware.
3. Mount the top case mounting plate using the supplied hardware
4. Place the mountain plate cover and screw the 4 screws in.

I bought another top box which was the Givi V47NNT. And bracket Givi SRA5138B. The reason why I swap because my passenger either wife or daughter they complain about they are leaning forward. Now with my Givi setup the comfort is night and day! Also, i found givi is more premium and quality is better. Removing the top box reveal a good looking bracket too. Single piece if aluminum not unlike shad that you have 2 brackets on top of bmw mounting rack..

Have you had any issues with the shad? Cracking, screws coming loose, have you done trips with it fully loaded etc? I have same bike and thinking about shad box

So far so good. No cracking, nor screws coming loose. Yes I took long trip and it was packed with gear,food emergency kit...
Hello thanks for your experience sharing. Have you observed any stability issue while over 200km/h? I have the same bike and I want to buy it if it not effect high speed stability

The top case never affected my motorbike stability, even while riding through gust wind. I have not surpassed the 187 km/h so I can't answer your last question.

I think that all the top cases are limited to 180kmh
Thnx for the video! 🙏. How much weight do you really put in it for long distance? Can put more than 10kgs ( which is the max per label).

Honestly I never checked thr weight. I start with an emergency kit, lunch box, then when we get to our destination, I leave 2 full helmets and 2 jackets, and take out our lunch box...

Mounting plate plastic one is include or you need to buy it? Alu plate I know is extra for s1000xr

i was looking to replace my st1300 and wanted something just as tall as honda's old top box i know shad made the original 48 but honda rebranded it, did you fit the led brake kit as well if so how is it? and have you had any problems in full expanded with water ingress in heavy rain?

Thank you so much. Please tell me how waterproofing is maintained in case of washing the bike and water spray may be directed from down to top for a moment ?

I have washed my bike several times with the top case on while following the SHAD instruction by not directing the air pressure gun directly towards the case, and I didn't see any water leak. I rode the bike in the rain with the top case and my belongings were dry and safe.

106 mph thru rural area just last weekend with a passenger. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mYR2sayNh7S7iLg.html If you are wondering if It is going to effect the bike's balance... The answer is no, I had it for a year and the top case is always up there riding solo or with my wife. Cheers.
