Great review pal.I think its very cool that you take the time out of your day to do this.I've tried them all over the 40+years I've been painting and I ended up with the Iwata 80.I've got two Satas sitting in my garage.I do mobile repair and paint and Iwata has been the most durable and highest quality. The Satas really disappointed, clogged up,broke,I was having them refurbished all the time, that's why I bought three.anyway, the Starrs were great for the money and DeVilBiss is a good gun hands down. The thing that made me an Iwata customer for life.I dropped an 80 and it broke right under the cup.Id had the gun over 4 years.Emailed Iwata and they sent me a new one within a week,"keep the old one for parts" Also,no gun atomizes and sprays metallics like Iwata,IMO.I have an LS400 for bigger jobs and that thing is incredible. But thanks for the review,I'm gonna check out the AZ 40.Thanks again
I am 76 and new to spray guns. I bought a old pickup that had one door different color than the other three. I went to body shops but their prices were away out of my budget so I am in a position of making the repair myself. I do not know how the mix the paint, clean the spray gun, and really have the skills using canned paint without having the paint to run. I have a large air compressor so I wanted control the volume of paint going though the nozzle. So, now I am on the computer to gather as much information as possible. I have watched as many of your reviews on KZread as possible. Great information. Now I am off to buy a spray gun.

Good luck mate 👍
Gunman it is great to have someone of your passion teaching us some of your expertise. I am a retired engineer (early retirement) at 50. Living here in Southern California USA, I am surrounded by older luxury cars. That only need a good paint job. Since watching your videos. I have bought a Tekna Devilbiss Pro Lite, Iwata Gunsa, and the Iwata W-400. Simply awesome detail videos.
G-man, I received my ANI R150 from Sprayguns Direct today and I must say I'm very impressed with the quality of the gun and Sprayguns Direct. I received it in only a matter of days to the USA. The only comment I want to make is that the camera makes the spray gun look much bigger than it really is. This baby is tiny compared to my Tekna Pro lite. I hoping to take it out for a test drive soon. Thanks for the recommendation!
Your videos is what got me into painting I can't stop painting painted my wife's rims my rims her moms front side panels and front bumper
Thanks Gunny just ordered one ANI R150 MINI GUN/you are the best
Long time follower, first time commenter!I am a DIY back yard painter from the UK and you have helped me produce some great results with your tips!hands together for the Gunman!!
spray quality of the ANI is 10 / 10 .... but the max air pressure allowed at the gun is 4 bar pressure. be aware of that! if ANI air regulator is used is very easy to give it more than that cause that regulator have a very crude and narrow air pressure band regulation. I used the regulator with an FLG 5 than swapped to the ANI , pressure was much more than the 4 bar and ...bang the seal inside is gone and the gun is leaking air (that part is not available as spare part). also the mechanics inside are not top level like a premium gun. I have done some top jobs with this gun , quality spray patter , top atomisation but I will replace it with an Devilbiss SRi Pro Lite/Micro or Iwata LPH80. the Iwata AZ4 HTE-S is also much much better built then the ANI.
I am DIY guy spraying from time to time in the shed ,I had lots of issues with finish quality and I got this Devilbiss gpi as Gunmans video advice and it made my life so much easier, thanks GUNMAN..
Bought the ANI 150 from Spray Guns Direct after an earlier review. Old panelbeater that still shoots a bit at home. Love it. 2 days delivery time from England. Highly recommend them
Great review , thanks! In my area for the DIY guys like me it is impossible to find one with a 1.2 tip. We only get 1.0 at the largest, which at times is just too small. For small jobs like you mentioned the small gun with a 2.2 tip would be the bomb !
It is great to find someone that knows something about spraying and guns. I don't use them much but have an old De Vilbiss I bought 35 years back for spraying furniture. I would like to get a mini gun for small work so your Mini review was helpful. I live in Northern Ireland.
I am almost 60 years old and Ive been painting since I'm 16 we had a family auto body business. Ive been doing Cerakote on Rifle and pistol parts. It is as durable as anything Ive ever seen and when its cooked, it has almost ZERO mil thickness with is important on a Hand gun slide or tight fit moving part. Anyway This video was GREAT It told me what I needed to know and saved me Trial and error with means Time AND $$$ Money Thanks Man!
I just got Masterpro-22 mini touchup spray gun, 1.0 and 1.3 needle set. It sprays clear really good.
I bought the Tekna Pro lite and thank god I did, I have tried to use this R150 three times and every time I regret it. The one time I used it successfully I only used it for base. I found it just wasn't laying enough material out for me to clear with it so I ended up using the Pro Lite. Next time I used it, it just spit everywhere. Like it's sucking air from somewhere. Can't getting it to stop. I am going to get something else. Update - Watched another video from Gunny and he said they are having a problem with the oring seal on the fluid cap. I used some teflon tape on it and it works.
thanks for taking the time to rate these. Us DIY guys certainly don't have the luxury of testing them all especially back to back. Thanks Gunny!
Thanks gunny you made it harder to shop around. Ani R150 / devilbiss gti pro lite / ANEST IWATA KIWAMI4-13BA4. Still shopping around.
I have the SRI Pro lite, and love every minute of it. Yeah I paid a bit much for it. But that gun is for life! There's an OLD SRI kicking around the shop that still works, but the newer ones blow the old ones away.
nice video, but I do agree, horses for courses, spaying model planes, wood tables with lacquer and cars are different things, and need different guns/airbrushes to spray them, and a pro in one field has different needs than a hobbyist or pro in another. but nice to see the "hobbyist" line of spray guns, as most channels, KZread show the big boys, if you just type in "spray painting, or Spray guns, SATA, Iwata, etc. wish you could put the list down in the comments, so we can search them, or give some links to them too.
I should just spit the paint through a straw on my budget lol
Funny how you post this just as I started looking at mini guns for about a week now. Thank you sir.
I'm seriously glad the R150 took top review. Next chance I get I'm ordering one. Not sure what needle size I should go for it though for auto paint. I've already ordered a 1.3 F150 and truly love the gun. I paint planes and the gun does good for shooting the thicker paint.
Thanks for the Gun Review - as a hobbyist!
Just ordered mine in 1.2 . Did I make a mistake? Should I have got 1.0? My main use will be for fine furniture, including table tops and cabinet doors.
Oh my, I broke down and bought a Finishline DeVilbiss for Christmas! And I really only paint one restoration project (car) every two years. I watched your review and it sold me on this gun as I'm only a part-time painter. What you refer to as a hobbyist. Thanks for the reviews you have done. Great to be able to find this information that is needed. God Speed. Oh, wish I had this top pick also. I need a good mini.
I totally agree. I own the 4400RP and SRI Pro but wouldn't have bought them if i knew what i know now: the R150 is all i need. Lovin it. (except for the lid on the pot which sucks :-) )
always goes to show that price is not always an indicator of quality especially in australia where the australia tax just keeps getting bigger and bigger . look like i will be shopping in the uk for the ani and the DeVilbiss . great video , thanks !!!
Thanks again Gunny-- just ordered the ANI R150 which should do well for my acrylustration experiments.

bought the ani r150, had to send it back, air leak from cap, sent replacement, after 3 weeks fan control packed up, sent it back now waiting ?
I agree with your assessment of these guns. Price is a huge consideration when they are in competition against each other. The ANI R-150 wins this round hands down, performing all the needed tasks and being versatile for the needs of everyday use! A good quality gun for a decent price.
Love this channel , used to be a car sprayer for 5 years ! I was good at spraying but had little knowledge of spray guns !
Nice job man that sagola is good for me
All things considered I’m leaning towards the SRI because I could use a mini gun for DRP stuff that isn’t de-trimmed. I’ve been spraying Devilbiss for a long time and I like other stuff but I always just slightly prefer the way they spray. Plus it would match the Tekna clear gun I already have lol. Cool looking stuff inspires me 😀
I bought the ANI mini gun based on your review. Here in the US it was very expensive on a few major sites. I shopped around and had to wait for it to cross the ocean but well worth it. For what it's worth IWATA could take some notes from ANI about customer service
Great review I bought the ANI R150 I love it sprays great and is great with acrylic
This is a old video and I don’t know if you look at the comments anymore but I want to use a mini gun for spar varnish to put a finish on bamboo fly rods. Which one would be the best without breaking the bank. Thank you for your time.
Great Reviews Gunman. Thanks for taking the time to Talk about each gun. This is really going to help me for choosing the right guns for my Mobile Body shop van here in Scotland !
Thanks for all your reviews Gunny! Very solid, honest, straightforward reviews, and really appreciate that you consider cost in the equation, helps us to know when it's worth spending the extra money and why... that is invaluable. Thank you!
I GOT MY ANI R150 MINI GUN FROM YOUR REVIEWS AND WHEN I FIRST TRIED ...LOVE IT FROM THE START , THANKS GUN MAN, THOSE VIDEOS OF REVIEWS REALLY HELPS.
Great review. Bought the A.N.I R150 on your recommendation and going strong so far. Like you, I love DeVilbiss and couldn't go wrong with the SRi Pro Lite but I think the Iwata LPH80 is just a great little gun to have in the family, unique and would be handy as hell getting into those hard to reach places. So that would be my choice given what I would use it for most. SRi a very close second.
How do you rate the ANI R160/t? Same quality as the R150/t? I am looking to use it for candy and clear for motorcycle parts.
Im a beginner hobby sprayer, i was considering getting a full size doing mostly detailed work so this definitely helps me out! thanks!
I purchased the A.N.I. r160q . dope mini gun! Thanks to spraygun direct. Best place to purchase paint guns!
Hello, if you had to choose between the matte black r160-T and the chrome r160-Q, what would be your choice for clear coat? and 1.0 or 1.2? thank you so much
Great video and I am lookin for a gud min gun I have one that I think sprays will but it doesn't hold....i also use the devilbiss finish line for some reason at 29-30 psi seem like the pressure is too light any Ideas y
thank you...very helpful...id love to try the ani r160
finally watched this one, good choice ANI. I have the big 150 and actually find it easier to use than my Pro-Lite. Mostly my being a neophyte, but I feel I would easily have bought the Ani and been happy.
Great review, think a couple of ani guns will be added to my toolbox. Ani regulator I bought last month is the best inline reg I've used.
hi gunny been watching for a few years now always good & informative stuff learned a lot from you.( just got my ticket this year & looking forward to the trade) Thanks for all the good info on your videos they have helped heaps. Keep them up.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! I'm in the market for a good mini gun, and was all set to get a Sata. But like you, the price is a bit difficult to get over. I'll be getting the ANI now. Thanks a bunch!! These videos keep us from wasting our hard earned cash.
This was a great review mate iv been wait for this to come out for a ages and it is worth the wait. I already have the iwata lph80 but I'm going to get Ani r150 for my next smart repair gun based on your review
you were spot on about the ani 150 gun. i bought one after watching this. Its a great gun for adhesion promotor, blender.sprays great.

Sure is.
I do wheel repair. You think the Sata Mini is the way to go. Not concerned with price..
Hey I'm looking to paint my bike. what is the best overall spray gun in the +-100$ range
A different application I know, but would any of these be suitable for a DIYer wanting to spray projects such as wood or should I be using something completely different? I know ZIP about spraying so I can only apologise in advance for the seemingly dumb-ass question
Great video on the mini guns,I bought the ANI R 150 about 4 months ago when you did the review, love the gun,use it all the time.
Very informative!!! I have the LPH 80 and the Sata Minijet 4400. Nice to see how all these guns stack up. Thanks!!!
Been waiting for your mini gun review mate. I'm a smart repairer and use a sata 4400 b RP on a daily basis so price wasn't an issue as I get so much use out of it. Glad to see you felt it was top quality, only let down by its cost. Keep up the good work.
As usual, a balanced and objective look at a broad selection of guns. This is invaluable information for us home mech's now I can get on with those couple of paint jobbies I have on my old Triumph. Many thanks ol chap.
Wow, great info! Could use some guidance... Getting ready to buy two guns for painting carbon fiber mountain bikes (i.e. fatter / flatter tubes than metal bikes). Want great results without killing the budget. Should I get two R160 Q, and dedicate one for bases (some light metallic and pearl), and another R160 Q for clear? If so, which spray tip size for each? Won't likely be spraying primer, just going with 2K epoxy rattle can there. Or would there be a better gun combo? Was considering a R160 Q, and possibly a Finex (FX1000?), both at similar prices. If going this route, which would be the base gun, and which for clear?
Great comparison this one was needed for a while. It's always good to hear your insight on things because it's alway 100% unbiased and true. I appreciate what you do and always look forward for new videos. Keep on going and we'll keep on watching and supporting!!!!!!!!
I know its an older review, but had to go back to it to review your opinion on these. Its not everyday you see someone has an opportunity to review so many mini guns in action, not just unpacking them. :-) So just want to thank you as it was very useful.
I have a central pneumatic spray gun gravity 4oz detail gun model 92126. Indeed different nozells and I am told that there are other guns that will fit. That look identicle...which GUNS will interchange nozells.my gun came with 0.8.
Hi The Gunman! I really enjoy all your videos and mostly the ones where you explain step by step on how to sand, primer and paint! I have two questions; 1) How come on my front bumper, the paint is pealing off? I did put 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. 2) On my lower panel/side skirt, I saw a bit of rust pop up again, I did sand it to the metal and prime and paint and cure for 2 days. Any suggestions??? Many thanks and keep them coming! Cheers!
Glad you did the review, been tossing up for awhile which mini gun to buy. Great presentation, you covered all the questions I had in my mind on which gun would suit my needs. Thanks, the gunman.
Thanks so much for this. I'm new to spray painting and this video was very informative.
ANI R150 Best? The manufacturing quality of the Star EVO-T 106 TFG is much higher, I have it and I can compare. I recently purchased the ANI R150Q on SpraygunsDirect. The air head lets the air out through the threads. There are no gaskets in the air cap. Only metal-metal on the cone. Now I need to buy a new air head, maybe it will be better made ...
Gunny, the ANI R160Q replacement, how fine can you get the spray pattern down to? Compared to the Iwata LPH-80?
That valve cover looks so good in the end...
Just ordered the no 1 A N I Gun on your recommendation from sprayguns direct, great channel, cheers

The Gunman how are you. .I was wondering if you could do a review about the devilbiss pri pro lite primer gun and the satajet 100 bf rp primer gun ? See which is best. ? Have you used them both. ? ?
@Gotallofthem1
5 жыл бұрын
I was looking at sprayguns direct, do they sell original stuff? Reason I ask is they sell Sata products on their site (I was looking at the 4400 mini), and I thought I read somewhere that Sata does not allow their original guns to be sold online, which made me wonder how they (spraygun direct) can do it.
Have you tried the Blackridge brand from super cheap auto? Also, I used to use star brand guns back in the eighties, have you used their more recent models at all? I’d appreciate your opinion if you know how they perform.
Nice work gunny. Concise as always.
Gunman, I may be taking spraying small parts with K2 paint. I will hang multiple of these small parts 60mm x 60mm x 9.5mm and doing batches of different colors. I have used airbrushes and I have sprayed quite a few speaker grills and rims. What are your thoughts on for a gun to spray small parts with K2 paint? By the way good review!
Old footage from your shop, been with ya since the beginning man, always look forward to your vids, real world experience and advice. I catch myself doin somethin I've learned from you everyday.
I know what's to look for new when I get a gun to restore a couple of motorbike in my shed. Cheers
Great reviews, so glad i bought the ANI from your top ten shoot out. I got my GTI Pro Lite from Sprayguns Direct, they price matched and sent me a free cleaning kit after i mentioned your KZread channel.
Do you not use hvlp guns? Here in the u.s. most everyone uses hvlp. I'm not a fan of them but that's what most distributors push.
Don't really use mini guns in our shop, but I'm almost tempted to purchase the ANI before they wise up and raise the price
what gun would you go with when spraying paints that have the viscosity of a typical latex semi-gloss
Awesome vid as usual and great range to choose from. 😜👍
Thanks for this video! I need a mini gun and I was definitely going to go with the SATA mini jet because of their undeniable quality but I’m going to try your #1 pick to see how she runs before I drop big dollars on the SATA. THANKS!
Good shit gunman we need more people like you in this industry!!
Great video thank you. Just ordered the ani r150 from SD. Can't wait to try it out.
Another great review! You are always thorough and to the point, keep up the good work!
Hm, "Graco Finex gets marked down in finish because it is HVLP". Isn't a lot of the other guns HVLP also? Or what are they? I need some words to google and then learn more. ;)
Great review! Looking to buy a small spray gun to refinish some white furniture at home and this is an excellent starting place. Would be great if you could post links to where to buy these from. But thanks!
Great review!!! Thanks for your time to do the review and help us out with the choice for having a good mini gun.
How much compressor pressure are you using? What size compressor would be appropriate?
I know this video is 6 years old but just a thought you should come out with your own paint gun line and name them The Gunman has such a good ring to it, keep up the good work
to be honest gunny, I am an lph80 fan, but this is solid advice. u cant go wrong with any of the top 3, no matter how u prioritise them. keep up the vids mate!
Intersting vid as always. Definitely loving the SRI Prolite. But I would say that.. 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome video @gunman Thank you for honesty and showing us how to get out there and paint some shit
just from watching your videos, I'm ready to paint some shit. And just recently painted for the first time the hood on my car to see how good of a finish I could get. not bad, its easier than I thought it would be even though I don't know any where near half of what you know about painting. I see why you enjoy doing it for a living. I would like to do it for a living myself. and soon I will be prepping my car to paint the entire car. and just bought my girlfriend a car to drive and I will be painting it too because it needs a new paint job.
hi..was thinking to buy the 2017 (iwata) air gunza speed flash orange limited edition. It has a AZE HT3 2 air cap..just wondering if they are any better than the flg5's and is the 1.3 or 1.4 tip better..apparently only about 350 made world wide and quite cheapish for a iwata, cant find any info anywhere in the iwata gun..cheers....
great review! don't do much spray painting but I learn something new every time I watch.. when are you coming back to Braeside?!
Hi just brought a ANI R 150 gun...Nice. Can you tell me the smallest spec compressor i should buy mate..For doing small mobile touch ups...Scratches, dents, rims etc...Thanks.
I just can't get along with my ANI R150 (I wonder if I have a dud one?) - I guess your good reviews will help when I put it on Ebay though! And I love my AZ40.
Hello. Question : what spray gun do you recommend to paint a guitar ??? Im looking into decent low price one ???
Love your vids ! was looking at a mini gun for some wheels so a free one would be great! Been using the tips on your videos to do many small jobs and working up towards my first project car. Many thanks!
I recently purchased a ANI mini gun and I was wondering if they make Devilbiss adaptors for the Dekups for them
Hey gunman, great comparison. Would the ani 150r be a good gun for motorcycle painting with the bigger pot on it? If i can change needles & nozzle sizes can i use it for primer to clearcoat for mainly mc painting or get a 150f instead ?
