@@v_r_ Unfortunately, their quality plummeted once Prada bought them out, I'm sorry to say. I have a vintage pair which is quite wonderful.

Another gem of a video - tells the facts without wasting time and gives excellent analysis with pictures. Desk is better than couch, but what I miss is seeing more of your sense of humor, which is uniquely well done.

Once again your info/advice is top shelf! Never thought I would pull the trigger on a pair over 1k but, I've finally bought a pair of Edward Green's Black Chelsea Cap-toe.

Being a shoe enthusiast, I watched your shoe videos - thank you, great research, super informative content! Perhaps you could do a video on good, quality shoes for those of us with hard-to-fit feet. Some of us get stuck in the Allen Edmonds box because they make shoes that fit but would love to find other shoemakers that can accommodate a wider variety of widths.

Very good breakdown for consideration of quality choice as well style. I can’t remember exact favorite but at least three I liked and will write down to do more research on their shoes styles. First I’ll have to rewatch the video, but I saved it to rewatch anyway. I watched all 3 shoe vids in price range in the playlist so lots of shoes to research. But my next pair will be in the $300-500 range and I already know my two choices from the video you did in that range. I did appreciate seeing all the shoes too.

Thank you and you’re right about those brands. I considered them but I didn’t want to make the video too long so I ended up cutting them out cause I feel like they cater more to casual wear such as boots and derbies as opposed to Oxfords. But I’m a fan of both brands.

I few thoughts: 1) I am Italian with a menswear background, with your hand-talk and humour I am more concerned that if you go to Italy they well love you so much that they well not let you leave. 2, I have a few Allen Edmonds in my collection but like you I find them a little stodgy. I have both Merman that are available on the Hero-eee last. Love your comments on TLP Majorca and want to try the made to order program. What’s up, George? I have no experience with them and none of the shoe enthusiasts whose words I trust have either. I’ve only ever seen them on KZread, unfortunately. I tend to favor Goodyear welted and hand-welted shoes though.

If you were to redo this list you would have to consider OCT 10, Yearn (now over $500), Ichigo Ichie, Blazong Wonders on this list.

What’s up, Steven? For a wider foot and a higher instep, I’d recommend the R or the Peter 2. I have a high instep myself but regular width, so the F works for me. I hope that helps.

Curious why you rated Joe Works #6 but you really liked the shoes from them you have? I really like their bluchers on the last #6 and thinking about ordering a pair.

Just FYI Alden does have a plain black captoe Model 907 on the Hampton last about 549 dollars. They are a round toe similar to Vass Budhapest. Enjoy your vids Vlad!

What are your thoughts on gravati?

I purchased a pair from Altan Bottier and they were so beautiful I didn't want to wear them. Their price points are kind of all over the place ($4,000- $500) but most of their oxfords are under $700.

Interesting choice, I would rank AM finish (Argentum at least) above both EB and Vass for sure and as good as mainline GG. Though Argentum would be AW, with HW it would go above $1k I suppose

Thanks, bro! Vass sizing is tricky in general but the fact that they use Euro sizes instead of UK like most shoemakers is another issue. I wear a 7 UK (8 US) in all the brands that I buy, so with Vass, I first tried a 41 cause I heard that was the equivalent to 7 UK but it was too big. I then tried 40.5 and it fits much better but the shoes gape at the ankles. They’re the only brand/last that I’ve ever used that does that. I’m sorry for writing a book but I hope that helps. Vass is really one of these brands that I would highly recommend that you try on first if at all possible. If not then just keep in mind that you may have to ship them back at your cost if they don’t fit.

Interesting question, Robert! Berluti undoubtedly makes nice shoes. Whether or not they’re worth it would solely depend on your preference. Personally, I wouldn’t but that’s only because there are so many other brands in that price range that I prefer.

Thank you! Alden is a dope brand. In my opinion, they’re more of a casual shoes/boots brand as opposed to dress shoes which is what the countdown is based upon. I know that they do have a couple dress shoes but nothing that I look at and say I want those. If that makes sense.

Good question, when it comes time for a resole, it’s pretty much the same because 99% of cobblers will just resole it using a Goodyear machine even if the shoes were handwelted. And thanks for your kind words.

Meccariello #1 for me Bemer #2 Ik these arent as highly regarded, but Carlos Santos patina work is underrated AF.

I am interested in trying out a couple of these, i.e. Enzo Bonafe and Gaziano and Girling. But, since there are no stores stateside, how did you go about figuring out your sizing?

99% of my shoes have been purchased without trying them on although I knew my Carmina size, so I went off of that when I started buying shoes. Luckily I know my take the same size in all my shoes. I would first recommend that you have a good understanding of your feet as far as the instep and arch and go from there.

Can you comment on Bally shoes from Italy and Bruno Magli.

Do you know about saint crispins? What are you thoughts on those?

What’s up, Felipe? The shoe in the thumbnail is a punched cap toe from Enzo Bonafè on their 804 last. That pic is 4 years-old, so I’m not sure if any store is selling that particular model but you can always order it custom.

I'm headed to Budapest next year for my 25th wedding anniversary. My goal is to order a pair of Vass (probably museum calf on the F last), have them shipped here, and wear them back to the place from which they originated. I'll of course be wearing them on our anniversary diner cruise on the Danube.

Hey Dave, first and foremost Congrats to you and yours on your upcoming 25th anniversary. That’s a huge number, especially in this day and age. Second, that’s great and you can’t go wrong with the F last. I want to take a trip to Budapest myself. Not only have I heard that it’s a beautiful city, but also because I want to get fitted in person and make some adjustments as the F last (my favorite) is sadly not a great fit for my feet. Do you know what style and what shade of Museum Calf you’re leaning towards yet?

Hey Patrick, the fabric is a Navy sharkskin from Filarte. The code is TRA019. It’s a nice Blue, they call it Navy but I’d say it’s slightly lighter than a true Navy. I hope that helps.

The quality for that particular fabric from Filarte is decent but I’m sure that you can find better quality Sharkskin depending on your budget. I’ve had that one made a few years ago and it’s an entry level fabric.

Cheaney's are REALLY nice and are under $500.

Carmina is my favorite. I have cognac/chestnut wingtips (my favorites) black captoe oxfords forest last, captoe oxford burgundy rain last. So suttle but men who dress everyday always stop me to comment on them.

When will you do a 1000+ video? That I would want to see, out of my budget right now, but it would be cool to dream.

I think they’re just high fashion brands and you’re just paying for the name. I always go to artisans that specialize in a certain field as opposed to one who does everything.

CNES are making great shoes for under 300 euros. Probably the best price to quality ration on the market right now. I wouldn t be shocked if they retailed for 500+

What’s up, bro? My suits are mostly from Spier & Mackay, I have a 20% off code in the description. My ties are from a few different makers, mainly EG Cappelli and Shibumi. But the tie in this particular video is from Berg & Berg.

This is generally my price range for shoes. Occasionally I will go over the 1000 mark but not as regular thing.

why not carmina ? Plus there are good retailers with cordovan such as alden, allen edmonds

Vladimir Riché not really. I got MTOs for 850USD and all are cordovan. They are amazing makers even if I compare C&J, GG for the leather and craftmanship.

My brother, you don’t think I know that there’s some Carmina shoes that cost that much? The fact that I’m stating is Carmina starts at $475, you can’t argue with that fact.

Expand it to 10. Carmina should be here. SF tramezza line is also very good value at less than $1k.

Hey good video man, I like your style. But in my opinion, if you haven’t owned and worn a shoe from a brand, it does not belong on any of your personal “best of” list. I’ve purchased shoes based on online photos and based on lists of features, only to be sorely disappointed once I had the shoes in hand (and/or on foot).

I hear you, man but I’ve never based my list just off what I see online. I either own them, recommended them to my clients and they’re happy with them or I’ve heard positive things from people that I trust with more knowledge than me. I think it’s asinine that I had to have worn a shoe to have an opinion on it. Hope that helps.

Who has the best Leather quality amongst all of the shoes brands?

That’s tough to say. A lot of them source their leathers from the same tanneries but it all boils down on how picky each shoe brand is and how much of the leather they actually use. Edward Green is a brand that’s known for having top quality leather for example.

I know what you mean. What you do is, just copy and paste the price into Google and replace the comma with a period. So 491.80€ is about $535.
