    Hey man, thanks - I appreciate it, this region of Italy is insane, I can't wait to go back. As far as the refugios and Hutte's go, this is a pretty vibrant region year round as winter sports are big here, I'd be surprised if they shut down entirely. I think early october you'd be fine in many of the areas.

    Thanks for the kind comment and a great question. You have to register and take a short class for the rules in Europe and in Italy. The European rules are just a Little more strict about when and where you can fly, but by following the rules, everyone is happier!

    Hi Jenny! it really was crazy, there were a few spots especially St. Magdalena, that in real life looks like it is animated, or like CGI - it just doesn't really look like a real place, it looks so perfect it looks fake... it's insane. And yeah, great questions - so we have loved Italy so far in our travels, and so this was our third trip as a couple and the last few times we have explored other areas of Northern Italy, but this has been on the list... also we knew that we needed to get to Chamonix, France about 8 days after we arrived for Megan to do a big hike (Mont Blanc) so we felt it would be best to stick around Northern Italy, and it was a perfect fit. We did about a week in Italy (together) and a week in France (separated)

    Hi Swathy, thankyou for the question! I believe there still may be some snow on the ground in May, but people will still be hiking. You can look up live cams to see the snow situation. I don't know about the Hutte's you can look into that, but I bet they will still be operational. Have so much fun, I think the shoulder season (May/October) are great times to visit!

I cannot wait to go back, so we had a pretty full 6 full days in the area and were able to do all of these, but we stayed in ortesei for 3 days and then cortina d'ampezzo for 3 days and you would want to split up your time. I definitely would stay at family run hotels, NOT airbnb's, you get a more authentic experience. There are refugios everywhere, but I didn't stay in them so I cant speak to that. Have fun!

    Just booked a trip to here for late int he summer/fall! Sweet video! Quick question for you, I saw a lot of great drone footage in the video, I'm considering bringing a drone also. Were the drone laws there pretty easy to navigate? Any tips on figuring out where you can and can't get drone footage? Thanks!

  • @JacksonMeyer

    @JacksonMeyer

    29 күн бұрын

    You will not regret it, this region is my favorite in Italy. 🇮🇹 Yes, so you need to go to the easa website and register and get brushed up on Italian and European laws. It’s essentially just a bit more strict. When we went to pragser wildsee it was clear no drones were allowed so I used footage from a friend, I really try to abide my the law. Definitely brush up as much as you can, but because of how wild it was, it really seemed like most places were open.

    hey thanks for the video and tips! We are planning our trip in a couple of weeks to the Dolomites, I think we might also follow this trend of going to Cortina and then Ortisei, did you had problems moving around in the areas you visited with these Limted Traffic Zones, I mean with a car? I know for Alpe di Susi there is one for sure, but don't know about the other locations? Also for your visit to Alpe di Susi, did you take the cable car also from Ortisei? Thanks!

    Hey! Thanks for watching and the great question, yeah so a car is definitely recommended for sure, but that is mostly to get to the trailhead, lots of hiking here.
