my truck is not as capable as the short wheelbase trucks, but I would pick it again. I have a 97 suburban with a 6 inch RC lift, matched with 33" grabber x3's. Getting the front hidden winch plate and a 12k winch. front brush guard with a light bar and a roof rack with a 44 inch light bar. I can put a full-size blow up mattress in the back and it does very well off-road. Towing capacity is pretty good, towed a 05 cobalt SS through the hilly parts here in mass. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Matter of fact the motor started to STB at 269k so I went and got a crate motor from advance auto for $1400 3 year unlimited mile warranty. I drove it from Arizona back to Massachusetts and I take it through the trails out here after heavy snow fall. The weight of it really helps in the snow. I almost had to pull a jeep wrangler out of the snow out in the fields. Lots of tire spin, while I just kind of tanked past them. My cousin actually just picked up a 04 jeep and we are going to be installing a 4 inch lift and more. That thing with some street tires surprised both of us following me through the deep snow. He got stuck once, but managed to get free. Best part of the WJ is the sunroof, heated leather seats and the fact its still a solid front axle is pretty amazing to me. Also the lifts are pretty cheap and there is a great amount of off-road stuff for them.

Great list. My Cherokee made the list but mine is a 96 and still running strong. I like the info on the 2001 V6 Grand Cherokee that might be my new project vehicle since I am almost finished with my 96. Keep the Vids coming knowledge is key

For the Grand Cherokee I personally think that it should have been the ZJ(1st gen GC) with the 5.2 318 V8 Laredo package and u can usually find them for cheaper the the WJ(2nd gen GC) just a thought.

Yep, they did have some rust issues so you have to be careful...but they have a solid body on frame design with the best engine GM ever designed the Atlas I-6. The I-6 is both a non-interference engine with a timing chain so no worries about engines blowing up. The only think people found odd about the design is the way they had to fit the Atlas in the compartment they had to run the axle through the oilpan or something...it made for a bitch of a repair. But otherwise a solid and overlooked vehicle.

@@benfranklin3638 yeah i live in az so cars dont rust as much. I don't have a single spot of rust on the frame and the I6 as u mentioned is amazing. Very reliable. The front diff going through the oil pan is a bit wierd and ive heard that they break often but ive been very pleased with mine.

Problem with the wrangler yj /tj is finding one that is not rotted. I just junked a built 92yj tub & frame was rotted and motor (4.0) blown. If you do find a yj or tj in good shape it's closer to 10 Gs lol same with the samurai. i built up a 07 jeep KJ... paid 1800.00 (CDN) , put 2500 (Can) into it (tires/lift/brakes etc..) the kj has the strong 8.25 rear axle that i can throw in a rear lunch box locker and go have fun all day. The XJ is bad ass, but i could not find one under 5g that was not rusted and i think they still have the crap Dana 35 rear axle :(

Lol. Yuge rollcage, He removed the back passenger door and the tailgate door thing and replaced them with those cargo net type things Dude slapped on 40 inch mud-type military beadlock tires It looked insane tbh. I actually liked it lol is that bad?

2003 Mitsubishi montero sport has really reliable engine, had the 3.0 V6. With some A/T tires and it quite capable. If you want something that is extremely capable offroad the 91 Montero RS is the best. Has the best gearing ratio in the diff as well as a strong and plentiful 3.5 V6 and else where over seas has diesel options.
