Bro you play games or are you a fighter pilot... how is that the best advice you have ever received

Lmao I literally had my first two RB matches today and both ended with me going into a spin and crashing. New favourite channel.

I started playing air RB with mostly bombers, those are fun and I want to unlock higher BR bombers to use with my tanks on RB matches, and this is what I learned about bombers so far: 1- Fly at high altitudes, if you fly low you'll be an easy prey for fighters since you won't be able to out run them. 2- Know your payload and specially, learn how much do you need to take certain objectives, for example, I unlocked the DB-3B and with the 1000kg bomb and 2 500kg bombs I can take out 2 enemy bases easily, so I don't have to return to the airfield right away after a succesful bombing. 3- If a fighter chases you, man the turret, you will have a higher chance to hit the enemy plane instead of the gunner bot. 4- And to me, this is the real tricky part, control the speed and altitude after a bombing run to land at the airfield, sometimes I tend to gain way too much speed while descending, or sometimes I'm still at high altitudes when approaching to the airfield since I try to keep my altitude relatively high because of enemy fighters, this depends a lot of each map, some maps have the airfields closer to the front lines, best thing to do in those cases is to go around and land on the other side of the field, since... belly landings can end up in fireballs and return to the hangar... I know I'm new in air RBs, since I tend to play more tanks, but this is what I learned so far about bombers...

@@benpfab17 yea that’s true, but if the whole team actually climbed and didn’t dive for the first attacker they saw, then maybe the game would last longer than 5 minutes and a single person wouldn’t have to face an entire team. Ps. Also not trying to be rude.

Yeah, know the feeling. In serious note tho, it is an team vs team game. You just have to play to our teams collective if you desire to win, how stupid the decisions might be. For example my favourite plane P-47. I would love to fight at 8km or higher, but some matches I just need to engage earlier than that to help the team. Let's hope for air RB EC mode for sometime in the future to "fix" this in some form

I feel your pain. I hate it when I realize I'm the only one that climbed, and I'm alone with 6 enemy fighters. Sometimes you just have to go where the team is.

Tips for wt 1. Climb high and know your planes rate of climb. 2. Check around your plane there can be enemies by you your not aware 3. Teamwork 4. Prioritize enemies low on speed 5. Learn your planes strengths and weaknesses 6. Use everything on your plane to slow down 7. Mid match loadout settlement

Part 3 always fucks me over :P

A key moment in my eternal learning on war thunder, was when i realised that there is a lot of activities at low altitud, attack planes are a lot of fun in rb, the key is in the speed and awerness, try to always seek for enemies you have to read the match, also try to be at your maximum speed always, the p47 is a gem on this playstyle couse its super fast and also his fatass prevent it from climbing really well

I'm a mostly ground player, and I've been trying to get into air. Even when I had something that was considered very good, like the A7M1, I was still struggling a bit. I tried to loosely follow these tips in a game and I managed to get my first RB ace with an early spitfire. Great video, it's very helpful!

It’s been 10 months and I can announce that I now have every plane the the Japanese tech tree, am researching the AJ37 in Sweden, and am still about as good as I was 10 months ago.

Tips: 1) If you enter a climbing fight(horizontal climb after an enemy) and you are low on speed deploy your landing flaps so you last longer in a stall position and can easily get on his six plus you will have and energy advantage. 2) If an enemy is on fire( the fire is powerful and in the middle for fighters and on the engine for the bombers) let them away dont waste your ammo, he`ll die soon. 3) If someone steals your kill ( maybe after the second tip) dont be angry, be happy cuz remember, the only thing he does is kill stealing while you can kill an enemy. 4) Don`t spam with your guns, shoot bursts accurately( if u have a F-82 u can spam cuz fck yeah, 14 guns), u must learn the ammo conservation, especialy in russian planes. Great video!!!

I agree with the flaps thing. Yesterday I was flying my FW-200 Condor over Stalingrad, playing from the Russian side after dropping my bombs, a B-34 was chasing me down. Needless to say, I ended up being heavily damaged and going down fast, not out of control, but falling fast (given that the minimum fuel load is 3 hours). Fortunately I managed to use the flaps to get my plane to fall slow enough that the match ended before I crashed, thus saving me a repair bill

I've recently started playing in Realistic Ground and Air Battles due to not wanting to grind for a long time in AAB and AGB. My first match today in ARB was in the F4F-3 Wildcat and I got a kill against either a yellow-nose 109 or a regular 4x MG 109 E-3 despite him having the height advantage on me. I was able to turn into him as he pulled out of his dive, which forced him to overshoot me and place me on his tail. Then there was a Ki-something twin-engine Japanese interceptor that tried to do me in a few seconds later. I didn't get to kill him in time, but I damaged him enough to the point where he was forced to nose-dive into the ground at the end of the match. I tend to play bombers more so than fighters, as I feel a little bit safer at 3000 meters. But as soon as I have to RTB for resupply (and maybe repairs), I have to spend an excruciatingly long time just to reach a suitable cruising altitude, which I found at around 1500 to 2000 meters. Fighters are a little more tricky for me, as I am not an avid dogfighter. I do try to use the height advantage as much as possible, and always try to come in from above and behind my enemy for the kill. But more often than not, I end up being blasted by an unseen bogey that I did not see when doing my 360-degree sweep. It is fun though, more so than freaking Ground RB. Good freaking grief.

A good tip for secondary armament and payloads: if you really want/ need to bring bombs or some other armaments, drop them IMMEDIATELY before entering a dogfight. This means you have the chance to bomb something and still be able to have your speed or turning abilities to your full advantage. This is what some combat pilots did during WWII

I tried air RB a few times with tier 3-4 Bf 109s. I’m a beginner and my biggest problem is pilot fainting when I try diving. I do hope it gets better with better crew.

I'm not really good at dogfighting in RB, but I did use my bombers successfully many times, and so the trick I can give is to fly super low. Low enough that you could almost touch the top of the trees. And go in a circular shape towards the bases. Start by going towards the left or right of the map and slowly turn towards your target. You likely won't be spotted. Make sure to have a fuse on your bombs so you don't blow yourself up

Could you make a tutorial video on how to avoid inverting the camera when controlling it manually? I constantly lose dogfights because my camera work sucks and I miss opponents or lose control of my plane for a moment.

Thanks for the tips, the team play is a bit hard since most players don't really play as a team, i think it would be better with a squamate.

yeah i recently switched from arcade to realistic since i made it to tier 4 ussr and figured now's the time but I was very disappointed when I realized its exactly like arcade. All the planes ball up in the middle for the most part and its just a cluster fuck. I genuinely thought it would be more cooperation and going after objectives but it's not. It's arcade with no respawns no reloads no lead and worse performance.

I’m on Xbox, and I would HIGHLY recommend using mouse+keyboard, mostly for planes. Tanks aren’t mouse and keyboard demanding until a little bit into the tech trees, the advanced tanks require more buttons. I’ve been playing for a year or two casually and it’s 10x better on mouse and keyboard. My friend plays on controller and I’m like how bro lol.

A tip for bombers....play with people who actually do their job and keep fighters off your back lol

You have to learn your planes. You learn your planes by flying them, of course. And then you use the tactics that are best for the plane you are flying. Also - what he said - teamwork. Even if you're not in a squad. If you do what you do while taking your teammates into account, that's just automatically better than not. (But there are exceptions - when I see a teammates in trouble, but he got himself into trouble by positioning stupidly at low altitude in enemy territory relatively close to enemy spawn, I'm NOT going to compound his error by following him in and getting killed myself.)

No, I believe he meant you can J out of your plane, to then choose the same plane you got into the match with, but with a different secondary loadout. When you go into an Air RB match you only bring one plane.

Idk bruh whatever I do in RB all that happens is I waste 5 minutes getting to the center of the map just to be shot down in like one minute, then I got back to match making for a while and start it all again, like 10 minutes wasted learning nothing because I get shot down before I can even do anything, I’m going fast and I’m up in altitude, this sucks

I would recommend climbing to around 13K-15K feet, and trying to pick off bombers, and weaker/bulkier fighters (p51, p47, HE-111) IMPORTANT NOTE: do NOT head on p51s and p47s

Ehh, phantoms weren’t made for dogfights, especially since it wasn’t even made with a gun because the us thought missiles would be majorly outclassing guns. Which led to installing gunpods.

I've been trying to get into air RB after getting top tier tanks on some nations, but its so fucking frustrating as it feels like they always crit my wing/rudders after trying to head on me, and i try to not head on, and I'm left limp in the sky contemplating alt+f4. Even when someone tries to fight me dog/energyfight they crit my plane with something that feels like pebbles hitting me and again im doomed. I dont understand how people play this shit or how the fucking hit me so well every time. I've tried both 4.3 premium i got with a 70% coupon and just low tier 2.3-3.3 planes...

Air Realistic Battles, it's a game mode in WT. There's also Air Arcade and Air Simulator Battles, as well as Ground AB, RB and SB and a few other modes for naval battles, helicopters and such. Differences between AB and RB are mostly in the "forgiveness" of the physics models, as well as some assists, while SB is a different beast altogether.

A pro tip that nobody accually knows hug the ground in a fw190 and try find a spitfire and use your turn speed to your advantage but be carefully as the spitfires superior firepower will wipe you out in a head on just a tip

If your controls are on mouse aim you should be good and to buy planes you need to go into the tech tree when you have researched a plane which you do from playing the game. You should start playing arcade then move on to realistic when you are comfortable in arcade but thats up to you.

Tip #1: buy a 109...

What the hell nothing works I just can’t sem to get better I don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😭what du I hav to do. Everyone seems to be better then me I’ve plays fore 5 years and I still get bet 😡😭

PRO TIPS on how to play Air RB: *DON'T* Why? 1- You climb, if you dive on someone below you, an enemy at your altitude will come down and clap you. 2- If you stay at altitude, a friendly/ friendlies will most likely clap said enemy/ enemies and when you look down you realize the entire enemy team is back in their hangar and you haven't got a single kill. 3- There's one enemy left and it's a lvl 100 noob who's come down to your Br, and doesn't care how much of your team's time he wastes so he just flies around his base AA and claps anyone on your team stupid enough to try and engage him. 4- And this happens all the time, you climb, and 80% of your team doesn't. The result? Before you even reach the combat zone your team is already in the next match. And you're faced with a mob of red. 5- You know the game mode is bad when there is a 5 minute Alt + Tab where you're not actually playing the game, between entering the match and actually shooting stuff. But Robin, what should I do if I want to play planes? I hear you ask. Ground RB, if you want to play fighters, you can protect your team from CAS planes that already realised that Ground RB was a better way to grind CAS planes than Air RB. If you want to play CAS planes? Plenty of targets that give you more RP and SL than Air Rb ai ground units plus if a fighter engages you, you have a chance at actually living to rearm at an airfield, rather than your hangar screen, you could get saved by a friendly fighter or fly over a friendly SPAA, better odds of survival than AIr RB. And there isn't a 5 minute Alt + Tab between entering the battle and the action. And lastly if you want to grind Strategic Bombers, or unlock more planes in the tech tree, play Air Sim Battles as a Strategic Bomber. But make sure to climb around in a spiral over your base AA when you spawn, that way the 2 AI fighters + AA can protect you as you climb. Get to around 10000 feet, then head out to whatever target you please, still climbing. This way you're above every enemy plane. Works 90% of the time. And you can go the whole match without dying. Huge SL and RP gains. Also if you do get engaged by fighters your defensive guns actually serve a purpose, because the enemy's plane is hard to aim, your bomber takes more punishment than in Air RB and you get a 3rd person view for your gunners. An added benefit to this gamemode is you can have KZread playing in picture-in-picture mode in one corner, or just listen to a podcast or music while you grind. Still better than the average Air RB match as a heavy bomber. So there you go, my tips and tricks on how to actually enjoy playing planes in this game. Trust me, unless you're one of these natural born aces that frag your entire team in a PO-2, or an ahole in a Japanese Ki-43 or Zero, you're not going to have a good time in Air RB, either by your teams incompetence or the enemies overwhelming prowess.

Another thing about playing planes in Ground RB is a lot more skill is involved, since there aren't giant nametags over you, or your enemies heads. So you have to keep your head on a swivel and actually search for enemy planes. This means even if your plane is inferior to an enemies on paper, you can still get the drop on him and get the frag, instead of him immediately seeing where you are, who you are, your IP address, how far away you are, and what type of plane you are, so he can exploit your plane's weaknesses. Heck you can frag a A6M zero, in the bus that is the P47, because he wasn't looking at you. Whereas if you where in Air Rb, the Zero can immediately see you, recognize you turn like a fat rhinoceros, check your name and see if you're an experienced player or not, and get on your six, because he turns like a beyblade. And you can't do anything about it.
