I've been dreaming of becoming a vet since I was a kid. But I graduated from another university. But I have my own cat shelter. Mom and I rescue and treat them. I dream of marrying a vet man. ;)

I just want to say that the Veterinary profession is a continual learning process. Veterinary Schools provide you with a basis, but it's not until you actually get into practice/work that you really begin to learn. Yes some veterinary schools may be better equipped or have a deeper/thorough (and more stressful might I add) teaching schedules but it really comes down to how much you put in and where your field of interest is! I'd like to add that these rankings always take into considerations like research and number of scientific articles published etc so just because one may be 'ranked' higher doesn't necessarily mean it reflects the teaching or specific areas that are better when comparing universities ^^ Good Luck

I got into the University of Edinburgh vet school but opted for Glasgow. Both schools are amazing but Glasgow felt more like a community than Edinburgh did. Graduating this year :)

Like other websites, start early and if you are sure on wanting to be a veterinarian in high school work hard in order to take classes like Physic and Calculus. What I don't reccomend is having tunnel vision and focusing on one plan that you get disgruntled and discouraged if it doesn't come through, try again. I'm guilty of this, but I'm getting better and learning to just start here with short term and worry about long term later.

I want say this is tha best professional in world

This makes me want to become a vet :)

Me too! I love watching videos of vets. doing surgeries to help pets! Especially Scott Miller in St Margaret's just outside London. I love watching the Australian vets too! But I have to tell all of you it drives me crazy to see vets doing surgeries without masks!!! You all have people who love you. You only have to get a small infection to become septic! A dear friend of mine died about a month ago when she became septic at the university of Iowa hospitals in iowa city Iowa. A mask not only protects you but all around you!!!

It’s not actually, it depends on the university as to what it is called. In the UK at Bristol and Liverpool universities it is veterinary science

Arthur Independente se um lugar utiliza um termo e outro o outro, o termo designado ao significado do termo a arte da cura e tratamento é apenas um! O termo veterinária vem do latim veterinarius que por sua vez é designado da palavra "vetus" que significa idoso! Que nada mais é que, o termo designado aos equinos que compunham o exército romano aos quais tinham uma certa idade avançada, e recebiam a aposentadoria pelos anos de serviços prestados, vivendo em um lugar para aproveitarem e descansarem recebendo assim todos cuidados médicos veterinários que necessitassem. Então no Brasil ou em qualquer lugar o termo correto para designar a ciência médica veterinária, é medicina veterinária! O termo veterinária nada mais é do que a designação da área atuante e os indivíduos que a compõem. Logo, se eu previno, trato e curo aquele paciente é exercido medicina veterinária, a veterinária nada mais é que: Determinado individuo pertencer a área veterinária! Ou seja, todos os demais! Ok!? Então se atente quanto apenas observar a cultura e empirismo de um determinado lugar quanto a colocação de termos, e entenda o contexto geral e o significado do que ele é! Então não defeque pela boca!

I’m not planning on doing vet school in the us. Taking on 200k in debt so I can finish paying it at 62 is just not worth the debt. I plan on either moving to another province in Canada for English education or just getting one in New Zealand or Australia

TNTWarz I go to RVC, although I’m a nursing student not a Vet Med student. It’s actually a super good university! I think you have to go there to actually experience it but again, it’s not easy to get into at all. I was one of only 50 students to be accepted for last years intake so that’s probably quite a big downfall but also means that you have a good relationship with your lecturers and tutors which really helps with your studies

Ali Joyce I think you’re correct! I will say the vet med students do get treated a lot better than the nurses but even in practice from my experience that seems to be the case anyways 😂 But the lecturers and tutors are all lovely

I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian since I was tiny. Unfortunately I am TERRIBLE at math. I’m not exaggerating. I’m so angry at myself because that’s the only thing stopping me. I’m going to be a vet tech now since that’s the closest I can get at this point 🙁

I believe in you and I think you could still go to veterinary school one day! Math is easy to improve with practice (I'm not gonna lie, it takes a LOT of practice but it's possible). I'm sure you'll be an awesome vet tech too; good luck! :)

I’m terrible at math too but i’m a vet student:) i study at Università di Milano in Italy🇮🇹. So if you want to be a vet keep studying hard and you’ll accomplish your goal

I'm sorry but from what I know the ulg is one of the best ones if not the best one.

Well, it's called Veterinary Medicine!

1:36 is not okay at all it's disgusting and painful. Cutting holes on the sides of cows is called "cannulas,' effectively leaving an open WOUND in a cow's body for LIFE. It's disgusting and they like to do it for "research purposes" when they can do so many other things, also this allows farmers to physically reach inside their stomach to analyze how much they are eating so they can overfeed them again just to cut them open some more and let them die a terrible death. I DO NOT LIKE THAT ONE BIT IMAGINE THIS BEING UR DOG

Nooooooo you forgot UGent Veterinarian Science in Belgium!!! UGent is a lot better than the university in the Netherlands! It’s number 1 ranked in the Shanghai or Korean ranking (I forgot the country, but it’s Asian)

Wow - You won't go to Utrecht because you have to learn Dutch? Have you been to the Netherlands? Perhaps you should check it out. Learning another language is a good thing. The Netherlands is by far one of the most advanced countries and societies in the world, far beyond the United States.
