I've watched a few of his videos and I'm starting to think Shane has bad taste in movies. I don't mean his eye for detail. He's obviously very good at that. But his taste in what a good movie is, is suspect.
Disney's new remastering team is absolutely terrible. They love adding DNR to every movie shot on film and it makes the viewing experience awful.
Terminator 2 is easily the worst 4K of all time, I only got it cause it was like $7
C'mon man. Lord of the Rings looks so much better on 4k.
Shocked to see District 9 make the list. I consider that to be a reference quality disc. To each his own I suppose.
The list is useful but no way the video needed to be 26 minutes. So....much .....padding.
Phantom Menace is actually the only prequel that is actually shot on film. It's just DNR'd to hell!
Speaking of beloved franchises, the Jurassic Park trilogy does not look as good as it should on 4K Bluray
I was bamboozled by all the youtube reviews saying LOTR 4K was amazing. I turned it on and was like…. What the hell is this crap?? DNR disaster.
District 9 is an excellent 4K disc. Given the style of the film and the 2K DI, I was surprised by how incredible it looked.
I disagree with District 9 being bad, I loved it on 4K and I loved the film even after multiple watches. Still got my fingers crossed for the sequel at some point!
I prefer my LotR 4k blurrays over the extended editions blurray because the colour palette is much better and the green tint is finally gone (it was extremely noticeable in the fellowship of the ring). The Dolby Atmos sound is also an improvement. I agree they could have done a better job but it is still better than the normal blurray especially on a big screen.
You guys must be smoking with District 9 being on this list. It's an easily 4/5 disc.
District 9 is one of the best 4k transfers I have seen.......
It's a shame how lazy the big franchise movies are with their 4k releases.
LOTR is interesting because it does have the “shitty smoothing” but i did appreciate the touch ups, tint change etc.
4k77-83 are better than the official 4k blu-ray which is crazy! The fan restoration from theatrical prints.
I interviewed Nicholas Meyer and he talked about the way ST2 was shot. All the scenes with the Enterprise crew was shot with soft focus to smooth the skin textures to make the aging crew members look younger.
I disagreed with District 9 and Harry Potter Collections.
