What would you suggest for trigger thumbs? It’s been frustrating to splint (because of the limited choices) and the steroid injections offered moderate and very temporary relief. Getting a referral for a hand surgeon from rheumatologist.

I am an older gentleman soon to turn 83, whose trigger middle finger of the left hand started suddenly, with no apparent cause, 2 weeks ago. This morning I saw a hand specialist who recommended minimally invasive surgery (ultrasound-guided trigger finger release). I have great confidence in my doc, and I am willing to undergo surgery if absolutely necessary, but whatever the ailment (and I've had many over the decades) I always try to see if there are non-surgical alternatives to try before getting cut. Browsing the internet I ran across a few of Michelle's exercises, tried them out, and plan to try them for a few weeks before deciding whether or not to have surgery. Thank you so much, Michelle; keep up your excellent work and presentations. Note: I am a psychologist, not an M.D., so I recommend that readers of my comments consult their doctor or health care provider to identify their particular medical issues and appropriate treatment(s).
So positive to feel that there's something I can do while I wait, inevitably, for a hand specialist appointment.
Thank you so much. The exercise tips 3-5 were extremely helpful for my trigger thumb. I had elbow replacement in January 2021 and for maintenance went to a chiropractor in my new location for scar tissue reduction treatment after moving out of state. Sadly in the process the chiropractor activated thumb irritation causing my thumb to trigger. I had left the state and suffering for 3 months as I was unable to follow up with the chiropractor or my original hand care providers. I did manage a break when I was able to return to my original occupational therapist during a quick visit back to my original location where I had the surgery. (Sadly I had moved out of state and was unable to follow up on the problem with my original physician and therapist who are awesome hand specialists). Your exercise tips 3-5 relieved the pain immediately. I am so very thankful to you for providing these exercises online. Thank you again for your very clear and professional presentation on these exercise tips.
Thank you! I had a trigger thumb on my left hand that would trigger daily and a trigger middle finger on my right hand that would trigger only occasionally. Your videos helped me cure my trigger thumb completely and now I’ll follow your instructions for treating my finger. Your information given in videos has been so helpful.

This was a great video! Thankyou. I’ve developed a nasty trigger finger issue with the middle finger of my left hand, just like you show taped up in your video. It’s darn painful, so I really appreciate your instruction.
I am so happy that you did this vid. It's healing the pain of my trigger finger. Bless you
Terrific video! You are an excellent presenter. I’m a retired hand therapist with trigger finger. I stumbled over your video and decided to watch, wondering if there was anything new in the world of TF treatment. I have now added the web space massage and the isometric exercise to my treatment routine. I can already tell a difference. Old dogs can learn new tricks!

hey any update, i just recently got trigger finger on my pinky on my right hand, starting exercises with it now.
So glad you posted on KZread. I’ve had 2 cortisone shots in my right ring finger. The pain and trigger are coming back. I also notice that it’s a bit painful on the palm side under the finger. I’m going to try your exercises. I’ll also look for a hand surgeon in my HMO. However, I want to avoid surgery if at all possible.

I'm glad I found your videos. I just confirmed that what I have been experiencing is TF on the middle finger. My friend had a thumb TF and I remembered so started researching. She had surgery. I do not want to have surgery.
I'm excited to try these exercises. I've had trigger finger for about a year now. So far, no pain but don't want it to get to that point. Will definitely let you know which of the exercises worked best for me. Thank you so much!
Very Useful tips. Thank you Dear
Thank you for this video! I got trigger finger recently this week, I think because of my work, but I have been looking for things to help. My first thought was a splint, so I am glad I'm on a good track.

Thank you so much for this video. It really helps me a lot . Right now im doing the #5 exercise. God bless
I found the 3rd exercise with the towel is the most effective exercise, Thank you so much it is so effective.
Good morning, thank you very much for this demonstration, am having this problem and was awaken by the pain then decided to search and find some solutions, then I made a click and go through with you and I liked the demo
Very helpful, thanks. My trigger is my thumb at the 2 joints . I adjusted your exercises to fit it
Thank you!
I just happened to find this video today. My ring finger is my trigger finger. I found your information to be very helpful, as I followed the exercises that were shown. I really like exercise that uses the ball inside the hand, as well as the pencil between the fingers. I have an appointment with a hand surgeon in a month, but for the moment, these exercises are helpful.
Interlacing web spaces and squeezing hands tight helped the pain go away in my middle finger ! Not trying to make a fist now… will wait some time and do suggested exercises for my trigger finger. Thank you!!!!!
Extremely happy with this helpfull video.. ur too good 👍
You are a God send!

Thank you for useful video , treatment no# 5 is good for me 👍
All of them are helpful
I foolwrd your taping video first and now this one. I can feel relief already. I was told I have trigger finger and Dupytren's contracture on the same finger. I think I have somewhat of a mild case but still a bit painful especially after gripping the steering wheel or my landscape tools. Just the taping alone comforted my hand without locking my finger. Thecsurgeon had given me the figure 8 splint which is such a simple, ingenious design however it locks my finger up in a straight position. A relaxed position as been more beneficial. I'm looking forward to seeing how the excercises help. Thank you for all your information and for explaing everything so well. You are helping so many people.
Thank you so much. In the absence of a brace your video gave me the idea to cut the fingers out of an old glove and place a ball in my palm to prevent me from making a fist and triggering my ring finger. I have a 3 month old Golden Retriever puppy and teaching him to walk has become a triggering nightmare! This way I can firmly hold the leash without triggering my fingers.
Thank you.
When I worked part time in the packing dept of a warehouse while in college I developed trigger finger. What worked for me was immobilizing my fingers at the knuckle after I got home from work and while I slept. It took a while but I eventually got to the point where my finger wouldn't catch. The other thing that helped a lot was simply keep my joints warm. Either resting my hands in warm water or, when I was at work, running warm water them in the sink.
