Dracula Untold clearly shows the most powerful vampire in cinema history. Vlad The Impaler was just learning how to be a vampire, and look at the devastation he could unleash. That was back in the 1460s against Mehmed II...now imagine how powerful he has become almost 600 years later when he meets Mina in the modern times. This movie deserves a sequel damn it..

Yes it is and Dracula would be able to defeat Selene in Underworld. Sorry, but he has more powers than she does. He could just easily cover the sky with dark storm clouds. In a head to head fight, no weapons of any kind, he would just tear her apart.

The master vampire tells Vlad this in Dracula Untold as well. "You will have dominion over the night and its creatures."
Good list. I'd be tempted to put Dracula from Untold a bit higher over Selene, but Roxburgh's Dracula in Van Helsing was pretty unstoppable so it's hard to argue with that placement. Roxburgh got panned by critics as over the top, but I really liked it, especially the way he could flip from despair to rapture, from apparently being loving to being utterly heartless in the blink of an eye. One of my favourite Dracula scenes ever is Roxburgh's, where Van Helsing shoved a Crucifix between them, and without missing a beat Dracula just grabs it, ignites it, then melts it, all the while screaming with a look of pure agony as molten metal pours over his hand. Then he just drops what's left and calmly starts talking again like it never happened. Suave and terrifying.

@@mahlatsemodiba7585 - Speaking of hate towards a Vampire Movie, I was kind of surprised that there were none of the Cullen family on this list - although it is kind of difficult to pinpoint who is the strongest, since there is so much variety in their powers. My first reflex was Emmett because he literally has the highest physical strength, he is literally a tank, but then like Selene, Edward has superior speed, I also thought about Carlisle but I actually don't even remember his unique abilities, I think I just like him as a strong contender because he is the Sire of the family, but no real data to go on. Then there is the Volturi, they seem to be pretty damn strong all of them, and then with Bellas Shield ability effectively blocking any other Vampires power from harming her also makes her in the running as really strong plus her being a newborn gives her strength that even overpowers Emmett. So yeah it's so difficult to figure out how to separate out all the diverse powers to determine which one of that franchise would be the strongest, but I still think it would come down to a toss up between Emmett and Edward. :)

In my opinion the Master Vampire from Dracula Untold trumps all the other vampires on this list. According to his story in the film, before he was a vampire he summoned a demon from Hell to bestow his powers onto him, so he was turned into the first vampire (albeit being tricked and cursed into never being able to leave his cave unless he turned someone else into a vampire). This means that he is essentially as powerful as a demon. He also tells Vlad that he will receive only a "taste" of his power before turning him, and we all saw how much devastation Vlad caused in the film alone...

I think Akasha, the real Akasha character not the garbage film is the only Vampire who could take Untold. Agreed. Although Lestat always has a place in my heart. And I do think that in the original story, even Laura doesn't know if Carmilla, the lesbian vampire who lusted for her, was very strong or not, but she always lamented that Carmilla had a strange draw and glow in her eyes. A hidden sign of self-assurance or incredible physical power and strength in a tight body, even self-confidence could be seen as a powerful weapon in the 1800s. This, in the modern day, we'd just simply call "Gay Pride", but back then, in the 1800s, they didn't have that saying. However, it could be said that Carmilla survived along with her vampire "mother" and that she managed to make it out and ended up fleeing the country being pursued by hunters. I say this because I recently re-read the story, and it is a great classic even if a bit dry, but Laura said something after her father returned from killing Carmilla, in saying that she didn't fully believe her father due to the fact he didn't seemingly believe it himself. He knew who Carmilla was and who she looked like. He would know if he staked her and cut off her head or not. Maybe it was due to her grief of not trying to stop them from killing her lover. Maybe it was her vampire "Mother" who, Carmilla privately told Laura looked a lit like her, saved her and in turn gave up her own undead life for Carmilla. I could see that also being true. That idea that lingered in Laura's mind, the idea that Carmilla has only gotten stronger and is still, when Laura re-tells the story at an old age (even though 40 is not old now), is still alive and even stronger now. It's obvious even at 'old' age Laura never forgot about Carmilla.

The guy nailed what he was given but Dracula was so poorly written in Van Helsing. Seriously that final fight showed absolutely zero survival instinct and almost no ability to fight. Dude got mauled and everytime he had the upper hand he just wanted to walk up to Van Helsing really slow to have a monologue. Then he'd have to try and fly away within half a second as Van Helsing transformed back into the wolf and tried to kill him.. happened multiple times and I just kept wondering when he was going to learn. Dracula has always had the ability to control the creatures of the night. That is part of the mythos. The issue is that werewolves were extremely difficult to control on their first moon transformation. The second part has to do with a strong willed. The only reason why Vanhelsing and the others were wanting to quickly defeat Dracula was because after midnight of the first transformation, Vanhelsing would be cursed forever as a werewolf. The cure only works before midnight.

The problem with Akasha is that she was defeated so easily by the twins, it was very frustrating to me, but she was defeated and the twins absorbed the core of Amel and thus avoided dying when Akasha died. The elder vampire Kain from Legacy of Kain is perhaps the most powerful vampire in all vampire lore (that I know of anyway), but maybe only if he has his signature weapon with him, the Soul Reaver--the Soul Reaver being a bastard sword with a serpentine blade and a vampire's skull centered in the cross guard. The sword's base form absorbs the blood of enemies and feeds some of it to the wielder, which by itself makes Kain nearly unbeatable. When later events happen, it also tears the very soul out of enemies and consumes them, trapping them within the blade, which means True Death for just about anything, often this occurs in a single blow when an enemy is struck with this version of the Reaver. Even later events give Kain the ability to call on vampiric magic through the Reaver and make enemies temporarily fight each other in a fit of mindless rage, engulf a vast area around him in magical flames, hit multiple enemies through (and instantly warp through) dimensions, channel and control powerful bolts of magical lightning, or just a wide area blast of pure vampiric magical force (usually enough to stun/kill outright even very powerful demonic foes). It even later receives a final enhancement that bestows True Sight on the wielder, and allows the sword to damage an Elder God, feasibly to the point he could kill it, though that hasn't happened in the story so far (he merely defeated the Elder God, but left it alive, but trapped under a collapsed vampire citadel/skyscraper). Even without the Reaver Kain has had access to extremely powerful vampire abilities, including super strength, high resilience, transforming into swarms of bats at will, transforming into a werewolf at will, transforming into a cloud of mist at will (that allows him to walk on water and through bars/gates), teleportation (shown for short distances only so far), heightened senses, telekinesis (powerful enough to toss around multiple foes at once, and wrap enemies in telekinetic shackles for a time, allowing him to attack them freely), super speed, and limited Sanguimancy (blood magic) that allows him to--at a distance--suck the blood out of wounded foes to directly nourish himself. He also has a very keen mind, able to see through many enemy plots and scheme ways to outmaneuver fate itself (which had designs for him to eventually die and let the world fall into permanent ruination), though to be fair he did put several centuries of thought into that particular dilemma. He's also the Scion of Balance, which might grant him more inherent abilities than most other vampires get to enjoy. Vampires sired by him also eventually go through a period of metamorphosis during which they enter a hibernation-like state for a time and then emerge with new physical and/or magical abilities/traits, some of which are passed down to any vampires they sire in some capacity. Kain typically goes through this process first, and then other vampires do so after him (though this point is rendered moot by the end of the series, where he is left as the last known living vampire). He also initially acquired and utilized even more (in some cases) reality breaking vampire magic when he was still a (unreasonably powerful) fledgling vampire. This included being able to at will do such things as flaying distant enemies at, spreading a flesh-eating pestilence that devoured foes in seconds, calling on a magic-repelling shield, call upon a magical illumination (harmless to undead) that affects the entire visible area around him, instantly travel back to his crypt for respite, call upon a spell of enmity similar to that which the Reaver later bestows, stun humans for a long duration allowing him to freely feed upon them, render targets completely immobile for a time (works on inhuman enemies as well), cast a bolt made from his own blood at a foe that would then drain their blood back into him, control the minds of individual humans for as long as he wants and after he returns to his own body they die, a very powerful spell that allowed him to feed on 4 foes at once regardless of whether they were already wounded and any others caught in the area of effect die outright, another powerful vampire spell to tear a creature's soul from their body which instantly kills anything other than powerful demons (which usually die in two hits from this rather than 1), and another spell that is later granted by the Reaver which allows him to call down several bolts of lightning to kill everyone in his vicinity, another mind control spell that works on non-humans as well as humans and also shoves their souls out of their bodies which kills them when he leaves their body...and then he later gains some vampiric abilities from consuming the souls of other powerful vampires, the most notable of which is probably the Immolation spell, which calls down a searing blast of magical fire not unlike those you'd find in a blast furnace, which can burn all but the most powerful creatures to ash in an instant. Hellsing Alucard is pretty powerful, too, but Soul Reaver is kinda OP.

After hearing your explanations I agree with this list. Awesome video! You should consider making another one on video game vampires.
I am leaning towards Vlad being the number 2, and that is only because of Dracula's Indicability. It seems he is able to overcome a lot of his weaknesses (like the sun). Vlad was basically immune to fire as he too walked out of a burning building and healed instantly, could move stupid fast when he wasn't fully developed, can easily make as many vampires as he wanted etc. I'd probally put Saline as 4. he seems slightly better then blade in ablity.
Akasha is faster than you think. In the books she takes Lestat literally halfway around the world in a matter of minutes. This feat alone puts her anywhere from 13,000 mph(if it took her a full 60 minutes) to 390,000 mph(if it only took 2 minutes). Either way, far faster than 60 mph.

She could actually teleport. Lestat narrates mentally in the books over it. He's wildly fast himself, and describes how he knows she's not just moving faster, she's literally teleporting. Also, they're running around with the equivalent of Celerity 9 (from the TTRPG by White Wolf).

You know, I was ready to fight you on Van Helsing's Dracula being the strongest, but damn you made really good points that I had forgotten about! I am thrilled to see both Dracula Untold and Van Helsing on this list, because they are some of my favorite vampire movies and I feel as if everyone always shits on them. I also appreciate your kudos to Queen of the Damned and how perfect Akasha was. Aaliyah really did embody a vampire so beautifully. This was a really fun video with some of my favorite movie vampires of all time! Would love to see a tv show vampire ranking!
Just a footnote here and spoiler warning for the books! Akasha's ability to burn the vampires was not pyrokinesis. It was inherently tied to her ability to manipulate the Vampires, a skill she taught to Lestat later as she kept increasing him via multiple blood bonding sessions to her. It wouldn't have worked on humans not that a human stands a chance against even an everynight Anne Rice Vampire. It has been quite a few years so if anyone read it more recently and I mixed something up let me know. :)

@@Graypaws That's not what she was doing when she started roasting the vamps at the bar. It comes with age or as a result of being empowered by the blood of a powerful elder. When they direct their power at the blood of a vampire, the blood ignites and thus, the vampire goes up in flames. Just when I thought you would not include my favorite vampire you placed him at the very top. NOICE 👌🏻
The clothing has always been my main gripe with movie vampires. Like Akasha. She was so old that she became as white and as hard as marble. This is how she was mistaken for a statue. But, her clothes wouldn't turn to marble. She would look like a statue wearing normal clothes and jewelry. Same goes for vampires who get burned or stabbed or otherwise wounded. Their clothes would be destroyed no matter how strong their healing abilities are. A vampire that walks through fire would emerge naked.
In my opinion, I think Vlad (Dracucla Untold) is placed a bit too low. I would place him above both Selene amd Akasha. But, only for a less broad reason: The truly vast potential that he, as the first official vampire (the 'master vampire' is more like a demon), had going forward. It REALLY sucks that the sequels weren't made so that we could see just how strong he could have gotten. He was THE Vlad the Impaler, after all. Literally another version of Dracula from Van Helsing. He and Clark Kent in Man of Steel are similar: both being tossed into the fray so suddenly and having to learn how to effectively use a particular set of abilities/powers. We just won't ever get to see Vlad's true potential.

"he always found a way to win. He beat Deacon Frost who had super speed and strength" -- Script and plot armor doesn't count. Blade can be beheaded fairly easily. Frost as La Magra could have used super speed or telekinisis in that fight in K.O. Blade in a blink of an eye. Selene took the spine of a Lycan out. By script he would kill them all, he killed a "god", but I see that he wouldn't be able to keep up if not for the protagonist script factor. What he faces is not due to his skills and features, it's because he is Blade and we are watching him because we want to see him quick vampire ass. Blade's enemies rarely tries to shot him when appropriate, even when they capture him. He wears body armor, it's more human than her. She take bullets in the face, flips a van with a light push, it's impaled. Blade is written to be able to go to all this dangerous situations but still get out fairly intact because "he is still alive", but Selene is a undead ragdoll. With superhuman speed. The skills and features of them for who they are puts him fairly under her in my view. He doesn't win because he has ways of doing it, but because the script gives him the edge. I haven't watched Queen of the Damned lately, but I remember they nerfed Akasha. They may have hinted at some of her power, but didn't really depict it like the books. She has the strength, speed, senses, and durability of some weaker versions of Superman, plus telepathy and telekinesis. In the books, her pyrokinesis is not limited to her general vicinity; she immolated ancient, powerful vampires on the other side of the Earth. She's more or less immune to sunlight and fire, and good luck finding a weapon strong enough to decapitate her. Tearing out her heart is probably the only way to kill her.

Love this one, a really cool video! If you ever do the series edition, my top two would be Drakula from Castelvania and Alucard from hellsing anime (the Og one). Those two have some of the best magic type skillsets and I honestly can't say who is stronger. They are the vampire "mages" done right, both brutal and scary, both containing centuries of knowledge and practice! They are basically the same person from two really different perspectives. The first one can summon the army of hell, travel instantly and can become clouds to scare the shit out of people of Wallachia whilst the second one... well... the less said the better. That would honestly make for a good video or two!
I thought this video was really well done and the choices seemed very well thought out. The one vampire I would suggest is perhaps a contender for the list and perhaps the number one slot os La Magra. He is shown to have no traditional weaknesses like your number one choice and in fact can completely reattach his body in seconds. If it wasn’t for EDTA I think he would have achieved his goal. He is of course also shown to be incredibly fast. I would say his speed is on par with Selene.

The strange thing about Buffy was that her powers seemed to vary. It seemed, the stronger the enemy, the stronger she became. Sometimes she struggled with one enemy, and then later on she struggled the same amount against someone much stronger. It also seemed that her strength weren't that big if she were not fighting. Maybe it had something to do with adrenaline? I can not remember her ever showing any unusual strength in her day to day life. I seem to vaguely remember it once was stated that a fledgling vampire had the strength of 3 men. And that an average Master vampire had the strength of 3 fledglings. So when fighting she obviously were very strong. Fighting up to five or six fledglings at the same time on occasion. And about that top 5. Poor Spike would fall outside that list. No matter how much he claimed to be a badass, he was weak compared to The Master, Dracula, Kakistos, Lothos and Angel. He may have thought he could overpower Angel, but nothing would be further from the truth. Angel never went beast mode whenever the two of them fought. He felt too guilty for being his grandsire. And that one time he wouldn't back down and we saw a portion of his strength, Spike was helpless.

What a sad life.
1.Drake (Blade3) 2.Dracula (Van Helsing) 3.Frost bloodgod(blade1) 4.Nomak(blade2) 5.Marcus(underworld)
This is a great list. I really thought that Akasha would have number 1 but I see your point. Also have you thought of doing a video on Dracula (2013) staring Jonathan Rhys Meyers? It was only 1 season but I think it worked fit your wheelhouse. Happy New Year. 🖖
Van Helsing was one of my fave growing up and I would love to see a background history of Gabriel Van Helsing 😩🙏
List was perfect 👍
Another excellent list. I keep scrolling through my mental list of vampires, and so far I don't have any others to add to it. There is definitely a difference between my favorites and the strongest - Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman, Count Dracula with Louis Jordan, Dracula with Frank Langella - Oldman would come close but in my recollection he would be it.
I was a little skeptical from the start but your explanations and descriptions of the vampires was spot on. This was done really and makes a lot sense.

He made some mistakes.
Selene wasn't as strong as Marcus until she drank from the father of Marcus. He was stronger until then.

Selene wasn’t stronger then him after drinking, she just became strong enough to fight him. Selene is just a better fighter as Marcus wasn’t allowed on the battlefield.

@@bloodoftheunicorns2621 I agree as that is pretty much what I said. I wasn’t trying to make the case that she was stronger than Marcus.

All of the Underworld vampires seemed relatively weak to me, as they generally seemed to require tech to beat the lycans who sort of ripped through them (train scene in 1st movie) - their main advantage seemed to be immortality - the hybrids however....

You got good taste I love that movie.
I would love to see you dive into the world of Vampire Hunter D.
It would be cool for you to do a video on the werewolves in teen wolf (Also congrats on 70k)
Akasha can actually teleport. She is also not a 'pyro' she has so called "Blood Magic" and as she is the 'source' she has the power to compel the blood to burn, only works on vamps as shown in the film. She also identified the smell of a vampire she met for only a few minutes, over a century before, in a crowded club, and Lestat had not been there for days after saving Jessie.

Yes, Akasha in the book was, by far, the most powerful vampire ever written in the genre. She could kill them anywhere on Earth, because she could enter their minds anywhere on the planet. In fact, for millennia, Akasha and her husband traveled the world through astral means and watched and learned what was happening. Almost nothing could even harm her. Bullets bounced off, and even if they could cause a scratch, it would instantly heal. The only vampires she could not insta-kill were the ones she let drink from her, or the few that were alive from her time over 6 millennia ago. So Lestat was impervious, along with the twins and a few others. She was so strong she even killed her own husband when she fell in love with Lestat. All typical weaknesses for vampires meant nothing to them, and for those who drank from her, including herself, they only got a sun tan when exposed to sunlight. Akasha should be first on the list if those issues were considered. But, given that he was limiting it to the movie version, I think he nailed it.
