SP404 effects are available as VST btw - They are inside of the Roland Zenology effect plugin. When Akai finally update the software to allow vst3, we'll be able to stick the effects on our mpc in the software

this is why roland need to step up their game, no step sequencer and synth options on the sp cant compete...they held back so they can sell those new volca like boxes...

@@thinkognito344 They held back? You must have never used an SP404 before because Roland knocked it out of the park with the updates in the mk2 and these were never meant to compete with MPCs or other samplers. And they just added sequencer in 2.0.

You can set your MPCs knobs to the same fx the SP uses. Especially if you have an X that has even more knobs. Makes me wonder do you even know how to use your MPC or own one? Everyone complains Akai doesn’t have this or that but there’s workarounds and straight up stuff that’s in there that you people dont take the time to learn. I can use vst3 with the Akai software. You just need another program that does it but it can be done.

I got mine today.. I figured out how to assign FX and record patterns and delete patterns and stuff :) This vid show some great workflows for the sampling.. thanks!

This machine is crazy. After yrs of purchasing other producers beats, I'm finally ready to jump back into my own creative box. That MPC One+ / SP404 combo looks to be the way but I could also just grab Logic X and call it a day. I use an MPK 25 as a controller right now (still not making beats as of yet, I just use it to trigger movie samples) but the ABOVE combo seems like it would 'inspire' a more hands on feel. Will debate over the next month but thx for your videos. You definitely show the potential power it could induce. Blessings

The greatest feature in europe in unavailability of mk2 on the market. Next supplies are supposed to arrive around AUGUST 2022. In the meanwhile you can pay around 1100 $ on ebay for one. It is one of the worst rollouts of one of the best tools I was to witness in a decade. Great job roland, we cannot stuff your pockets as long as they are closed. Btw great video as always Malo! Going back to my dungeon to cry over my SP404A

Just Got it yesterday and its going to be a learning adventure going from the SP1200/Mpc2000XL/60 mk1 and 60 mk 2/AsR 10 and even MV8000 which is my favorite to this. Need to know about the factory stuff how to move it on to the sdcard so I can clear to memory

I was waiting for you record the pattern to see if it loops back right. That'd where I'm having the problem with some of these samples, be it drums or a one shot, etc

With newer iPhones that have lighting to usb c you can’t sample straight in to the usb on the 404 instead of having to get a line in adapter no?

I jank my phome from USB C straight into USB C SP404Mk2....Works like a charm....Also with a lightning to USB cable (USB C or adaptor USB A to C)

Bro these are some great effects might be getting sp202 soon I got the One . You should make a video on mixing and mastering with plugins you got on your daw I’ve been trying but I think I need some work .

How do you get skip back on to pad 13? What is your process?

I just got my SP-404MK2 and, it is dope as shit. It's definitely a direct descendant of the MS-1 with all the terminology and, features. My only gripe is that you can't customize midi mapping, no input meter, and can't export stems.

Can I edit and chop let’s say, a piano sample on the fly, while another (drum) loop is playing?

Could you talk us through playing samples chromatically, having the notes and recording a sequence plse @malo. As you know yourc way around the sp 404 maybe you built some tracks around the sequencing function. I unboxed yesterday and im not sure what the sequencing capabilities are - how to navigate them, play through it live

is there any way to have a pattern run at a uneven bpm?? for example 76.8 or 91.3...

What if you don't know the bpm? Can you just set a loop to play over 16,32.. etc steps?

Yes you can with the correct cable

This is how I use Ableton. I don’t even hit record. It records my midi inputs. Wish it did the same with audio

Man, great observation and no I have been having some issues with my 1 DX when I plug in my HDMI cable to the external monitor is something that started happening just recently

are you sampling from your phone into the headphone jack?? is that possible? lol
