do you consider ping being a factor or hitting or missing at all? Because I don't. But some of the high elo players I coach yell at me, when I tell them even with 100 ping you still miss because you made a mistake in your thought process.

@@ProxorGaming no ping doesn't matter. ping is what causes the hitbox issues in game. the one getting hit has the movement on his screen but didn't get to the other side might feel like they actually dodged it.

one more advance tip from high elo: Players in general (even in master+) have patterns. If you hit a skill-shot and the player in lane dodges to a certain angle, chances are they might dodge into that angle again. If you throw out a shot and begin to read their movements - you might realize maybe they more 60% to the left / 40% to the right ~ you can then aim your skill accordingly. Reading pattern movements is one of the best ways. It works in high elo, and I've noticed It can work wonders in low-elo. Its kind of hard to do though so might require practice.

"Look how my mouse is LITERALLY right on top of him" as mouse hovers a few steps in front of him, leading the shot -.-

Sadly so many people don't do this. Just watch some high profile streamers like Tyler1 playing Karthus and you see he constantly leads Qs and misses almost all of them. If he just put his cursor on the enemy he'd likely land at least 3 times as many.

Tip 6: Use terrain to your advantage! In the nautilus clip for example he could have thrown out the hook later when Ori stands in front of the wall. Thus he will hook her or towards the terrain behind her, still closing the distance!

Tip 7: recognize how much pressure the enemy is currently in. If the enemy is currently subject to intense pressure, even from non-skillshots, they most likely won't have enough attention to put on dodging. If the enemy is inside a Veigar or Camille cage, or being chased by even a 0 cc champion, their juke ability will automatically be impaired. People, even pros, have limited attention span.

great guide, already doing all theses tips, and maybe you could add a last point : land your skill when opponent land a spell (except for syndra, the champion stop to cast a spell) so i just walk and land my spell when ennemi casts his spell. Bonus for amumu players : it's double benefit if you do that against a cc spell, cause your q will hit and you will be cc while dashing on him

Let me just point this out since I think skillcapped team did not see it. @1:48, the chances of syndra missing zed is very low because if you see, the CS is going to die. Zed is focused on getting CS. This is a trick where you trade whenever your opponent goes for CS thus getting the hit rate of your skill higher.

Use the reverse logic. Pretend you are the other player, what are they going to do? What can you do so that doesn’t work? Or at least be ready for it?

I find it difficult to hit zed q every time so that fifth tip is very usefull to me

never say never. anything that has cast time or travel time will need a lead. just as first person shooters. i would like more examples from pro gamers so the results are not bias or skewed towards one technique over others. cause im pretty sure ive seen in tournaments pro players miss what would appear to be a easy hit or walk into something.

Pro Players are just humans as well and even they will sometimes miss easy Skill shots. But you also have to consider that they are playing against other pro players who are much better at dodging skill shots than your average player

"Focus on the feet." Urgot: Which feet?

"Let the enemy juke themselves out" - is that supposed to be an advanced tip? Maybe it is for midlane, but it's pretty standard when ganking with a skill-shot jungler like Amumu or Lee Sin. I suspect most gold+ jungle mains already know about this one. One you missed that I often use when playing support is "time your skill shot for when a blocking minion dies." It's amazing how many Morgana or Blitz Qs you can land because the enemy took false comfort from the protection of a dying minion. Another is to always try to land a slow before the main skill shot. For example Nami should hit an E-auto before bubble, or Elise should hit her W or a red-buff auto before throwing her cocoon.

You forgot to add tip to use choke points. For example when enemy is standing near a side of his tower there's not much space left for him to juke. If you angle your champion well and throw a skillshot, it's almost impossible for enemy to juke it. Another tip you should mention is to throw a skillshot in such a way that it would hit enemy whether he moved based on your prediction or if he was standing still, that's what I call a sweet spot. Only a huge movement speed boost or failing to predict his movement would make enemy dodge in this case.

Ziggs might be an extreme case here, that hitbox is actually really small and has a travel time. Usually, what I do instead is look for when they're near minions when I want to throw my Q. People really only learn how to dodge Ziggs Q's when I start missing them.

Ziggs was who I was thinking of for all of this. I learned to aim for the feet at a certain range (uncomfortably close) for hits without minions. I think it's far too forgiving of a skill shot to dodge due to the size that Riot doesn't want to revert from many seasons ago.

I like the aim at the feet thing, gonna try that.. OTP urgot ;)

One tip that wasn't mentioned is using the natural terrain to make it so they either can't dodge or have to dodge in one direction. A perfect example is that space between a tower and the wall. If they are headed into that channel wait to toss your skillshot while they are trapped and can't juke side to side. Same goes for any champ that puts themselves against a wall. Through your skillshot on the opposite so so they are stuck between the skillshot and the wall having no room to dodge.

2:25 The q would have appeared there regardless; I think that the cursor should be behind the opponent when trying to hit a linear skillshot as this reduces mouse slipping errors. 2:51 use comma and period to navigate.

How to improve your skillshot mechanics: practice and play games that requires predicting targets and dodging at least 15 min before queuing for a match, in that way you will improve your reflex and muscle memory in some micro-mechanics aspect

@2:37 Xerath's Q: The main reason why it missed is not because of the mouse but rather Xerath did not queue Q skill immediately. There's 0.5 seconds or so of slow if you hit Xerath's W. What should happen is if you anticipate that your W is going to hit, you should immediately queue your Q. If you replay, the main reason why Xerath's Q missed is not the mouse but rather Xerath walked befere queuing his skill thus increasing delay in addition to animation delay.

Should I use quick cast or quick cast with indicator? And should I use "Cast the pressed spell upon pressing another spell" option? Does it make procasts faster? Does it have input delay?

Sounds about right.

Also, most players below master ALWAYS dodge the same way, in the same direction. Use your first 2 or 3 lane skillshots to see which way they dodge, then just anticipate with a lot of ease where they will run and where to put your skillshots so that your ennemies run into it

One more tip I like to give newer players with skill shots with travel time is to not go for max range skill shots. Max range should really only be for when you're out of vision as your opponent likely won't have time to react and probably moving in a straight line.

That's not a great tip. If you play nidalee and you never go for max range skillshots you will lose on a lot of damage.

Also something that wasn’t pointed out but I think will help a lot of people is when going for point nr 5 (opposite side skillshots), try to force them against terrain and the last step or two before your throw the skillshot, move towards the terrain as if you’re going to line up parallel to it. It makes it impossible to juke the skillshots unless you’re trying to hit like a lillia with fully stacked passive

I don't disagree that they hit 5 times more skillshots, but I this that the statistics is skewed by the fact that challenger player abuse the pressure of the potential to throw said skillshots, and therefore throw less. They only throw them when it is basically guaranteed while lower elo players often use them off cooldown

So I'm special after all, I troll to Doge the skillshot and it work exactly the same as he explained but a little bit different. But I don't play rank much

Well, for the 3rd tip, the above view is not an actual thing, league of legends is a 2D game with 3D graphics, and the champions hitboxes are 2D circles on 2D backgrounds. If you aim at the head and still land the skillshot, that wouldnt be possible from an above perspective, since the skillshot would go a little behind the target.

6th tip is to make use of walls by aiming skillshots parallel to the walls using range indicator

Even if it's on top of them. If they are already moving away it will miss every time. In the clips that hit they are moving toward the skill shot so they will hit. Lag and where they are going will cause it to miss. If it alway hits people would never try to predict them. With your Q they are trying to dodge it. They are baiting you.

This guide is good for low ping ppl not for ppl playing in high ping

Tip number 5 does not work in low elo. They don't have the reflexes to realize what is going on. This works in gold + but anything below that they won't see you coming for at least 3 seconds. So just throw the skill shot at them as if they are moving in a straight line

If you're playing against A. Sol where should you aim???

Or just fire the skillshot to where it will get the edge of the hitbox, so if they attempt to juke the other way they will most likely still be hit

It's quickcast with the range indicator so they aren't having to click, but abilities cast when they let go of the key for it. It's useful since it lets you know exactly what your range is and where your mouse is.
