I have a 2014. Was on the fence to go newer but your right! I don’t want to shell out 20G and they are tanks. I remember being at an off road park and everyone was looking at mine. They said, “don’t ever get rid of this”. I think I’m gonna hang on to it a little longer. Thanks for the encouragement

Believe me I'm tempted from time to time because I am a power junkie and the 800 isn't exactly that but it's paid for and does amazing on the trails I ride.

I have a 2012 800 and it’s a beast. A lot of people say that they got the newer ones for power but I’ve gotten mine up to 65 on the road before. I love it.

The newer ones have more pop but my 800 goes plenty fast!

I love my 2013 RZR 800s. I bought mine from a dealer with 60 miles on it 3 years ago, paid 8k. It came with a custom welded roll bar, aircraft aluminum top with rubber insulation, PRP doors, harnesses, light bar, winch.. etc. I love it. Perfect for me. Very dependable and with all the accessories. I live in an area where there are tons of custom shops so it was built well. More than enough. Easy to maintain.

I absolutely love mine. I've had it for about a year so far. Most of the time I'm rock crawling so I rarely go over 15 mph. The torque in low is very nice. I take mine to Windrock Park. Most people at that park have $20k or $30k rigs and up. I'm in my 800 doing pretty much everything they are. I may upgrade some day for the heck of it but I'm in no hurry.

I see the same things here too. I spend most of my time under 30mph too so there's no hurry to upgrade for now.

Just got a 2013 Polaris RZR® 4 800 EPS Blue Fire / Orange LE in very great shape !

Good video, 6,700 miles on our 2 seat 800S in about 2.5 years. Very dependable and no big issues. Make sure you join the "tight nut club" and change those springs!

I need to dig into the rear diff for sure. I looked at springs but mine do fine for now. Before I drop almost a grand on springs alone I'd have to consider a newer, more powerful machine.

Know anywhere to get the tools? Been searching for the tools, but may need to make them. Just picked up a 14 800 s at an auction. Really want to get that repair done.

I'll vouch for the reliability of the 800, mine has been through more than most should and it's honestly gotten better with time. No performance mods just sort of regular maintenance and these things will never do ya wrong.

About the only thing I hear about is the pinion nut problem and that's it!

I have a 2010 rzr 800 4 seater bobby Gordon. Absolutely love it. My husband has a 2021 rzr turbo s. I lead the way thru trails in Colorado! Taylor park area. Never stalled or high centered!!

Hey there great video and reasons to keep or buy an older rzr! I’ve been looking at a few now. The new prices are 18k+ 🇨🇦 and that’s for lower model trail type 50/60 wides. And no doors or nothing. I’ve been checking out a few 2013 rzr 800s

Yes, price!! I am looking for one of these now. Considering what these go for new, this video is very correct. Quite a few of these out there, 2 seaters with a lot of accessories already installed for 1/3 the cost of new and most of them have low miles. One other bonus is that there are so many parts and accessories available too. Hard to go wrong if you don't need the best of the best.

I just did bought a 2010 Rzr 800 s ranger 3200 miles and you got a nice rzr!!

I have a 2010 rzr 800 currently going through to fix all the small before they come big . Pretty cool bike tho

I bought a 2011 800s two seater in 2016 in the fairly rare tan version with the 'army' star on the hood. I paid high $5k for it. It had hard doors, and that Polaris double deck rack on the rear, with a Polaris hardtop and a windshield. I replaced the windshield with a two-piece opening kind, added a winch on the already installed aftermarket bumper (brand unknown). I added breakaway side mirrors and a rearview mirror (which turns out to be worthless because of the dust that gathers on the rear dust catcher at the seat backs). But, not long after I bought it, the engine blew (broke a rod plus a few other motor parts!), probably due to lack of maintenance by the previous owner(s). I'm the third owner. So, the options were having the broken engine parts replaced, OR, buying a new engine from Polaris. I opted for the new engine (because it was almost the same as parts replacement), so now I have a 2011 800s with a new 2018 engine. I don't beat this thing at all, speedwise, but it displays its goat-like climbing abilities here in mountainous northern Nevada. I went back to stock sized tires from the slightly oversized ones that came with it when I bought it. It goes anywhere! ANYWHERE! My wife and I use it for Geocaching, metal detecting, and just plain exploring our mountains and deserts. We take it on a lot of off-road poker runs where we see others with their seemingly million-dollar rigs. I like to look at them, but I wouldn't want to own one. Before we bought this one we looked at brandy new ones and would have had to buy a 400 to spend what we eventually spent on our 2011 800. Even with the new engine, I feel like we're still money ahead. Oh, and I'm 76 and wifey is 70. Never let age keep you down. I also have leukemia (in remission) and had a stem cell transplant a year and a half ago. "Age" is a state of mind - keep your mind YOUNG at all costs - ha. Thanks for your great video. You make total sense. Good points that confirm that we did the right thing in not buying new.. Added a bit later: I read about the "Tight Nut Club" and had the gentleman in Winnemucca, NV get me into that club. Glad I found out about that!

2010 "S" model with 5k miles, just experienced the pinion nut deal. Luckily I didn't explode my case. 400.00 fix! Paid 5k about 4 yrs ago. Turbo bany! King shocks and every aftermarket goodies I could think of.

I've got a 2012 800 setting in the garage. 4600 miles and still going strong. We ride it all the time and plow snow with it. 👍👍

a few months back i bought a 2012 rzr 800.its bone stock with no upgrades sadly..im considering a winch and brush guard to start,it was kinda an impulse buy and i had some buyers remorse...until i found some short trails in my immediate area i could ride to..no trailer or hitch for my vehicle,i cant wait to venture further to some actual atv/utv trails..also i need to connect with other riders in my area as of now im riding solo..i paid $6,500

A winch is a must for soloing and a new skid plate is also recommended. Check your ride height as the stock springs sag over time. I did a video on that here>>>> kzread.info/dash/bejne/YqKl1alpZM6xh6g.html It's free to adjust!

Rebuilt a 2011 800s and have been enjoying it for a year now. Although not fast, they're very reliable as long as you take care of a couple small issues.

After how many miles did you rebuilt the engine? 2 pistons and 2 rods? The cilynders were fine?

I have a 2012 rzr 4 800 my self. It has always been loud, but I have recently started hearing chatter in the engine. Like a lifter sticking. I have not taken it apart yet. Can you possibly send me a link of what you purchased to rebuild ? Did yours make the same ticking sound?

I gave 5k for my 12’ 800s LE and all it needs is some TLC. I refuse to give more for one than my car cost. 25k? I’ve seen Talon and X3’s in the 35-45k range No thanks

I just bought a 2014 800 4. It fits well in my toy hauler. No power either. I am having a clutch kit and Dyno Jet V Commander installed. Do not know if buying an after market exhaust will make a difference too but for now I am just adding those 2 items. I will post my results in a couple of weeks.

Sounds great! I have read a lot of forums and what not and they have said that bolt ons don't add noticeable power but please post up your experience here. The clutch kit will do wonders! It's way off from the factory.

I bought a 2012 rzr 800efi 50" trail recently. While I had not seen this video first I agree they are a massive value right now. Dealership sold it to me for less than I could find one anywhere else. Fyi the music in your audio is too loud. IMHO. Did you get an aftermarket intake to solve for the dust?

This one was pretty early in my channel and I've toned the music down a lot! I just run an oem filter in the stock intake.

i can get a 2010 polaris rzr 800 for 4500. worth it? it runs good

My 800 was great since buying new in 2013, but just experienced the rear diff pinion nut failure. Almost $2k to replace it and the trans coupler. Wish I had known about that issue before it blew out my diff.

loved my 2012 800 4 Robby Gordon Edition until it caught on fire over the weekend. a simple tilt on its side and it caught on fire and burnt to the ground. it had been put on its side a couple times with no problem just put it back on its wheels and kept riding, dont know what happened this time :(

Just bought a 2012 rzr 4 blue robby gordon edition. Love it!! Watch out for bad motor mounts or trans to engine mount bolts.. Theyll ruin your day.. Anyways What size are those tires you are running?

Yeah. Motor mounts got bad enough that the the motor and trans started to vibrate apart and broke one of the studs off underneath. Never really noticed anything different until I smoked a belt and couldn't get the new one aligned within the clutches. I have read that its a common issue/flaw with the way they mounted up the 800's

bought a 2013 rzr800s - blue fire le little over a yr ago - just replaced clutch with dura clutch- has the 29.5 outlaw2 tires but omg rides rough. Scared to go fast- 35 mph and feels squirley- perhaps the tires.

Maybe they need to be balanced? Also check your wheel bearings for slop. How is the power with those tires?

Do you have a rear sway bar? Some people take then out. If you take it out it wont ride good at fast speeds.

Check for dust in the intake and smoke from the exhaust. An aftermarket air filter is not a good thing. The pinion nut can come loose in the rear diff and blow it up but that seems to be hit or miss on who it happens to. Overall they are great machines. Hey i gotta 2014 model basically the exact same but im looking for those doors and on mine the oil is leaving but its not smoking or anything and its getting into the airbox, i dont know why its getting into the air box and ive called several mechanics and they dont know. Have you ever had that problem ease reply

Those doors are a popular question. They are pro armor but were on there already when I bought it used. Love them. As far as you oil question it might be crankcase pressure or something. Try RZRforums.net or RZR Nation Facebook group. Lots of very knowledgeable people there.

the leak is coming from your pto shaft seal. I had mine changed over to warranty killer performance crank seal update. it moves the seal retainer to the outside of the motor so it can be replaced from the outside of the motor and not having to pull the motor to replace it.

Oil is caused by blow by. Compression/pressure getting through piston rings into the crankcase and vented out through the pcv system. Its normal unless your draining like half a cup or so after every ride or something. Then top end is done.

I have a rzr ranger 2012 800

Was on a budget. Bought a 2013 on January, 15, 2021. Drove it less than a mile. Pinion nut backed off. Busted the rear diff case. I realize that the seller was not aware of the problem. But you need to share about this problem and the 1200.00 cost to replace the differential. That is part cost only

I love my 2012 800 Robby edition. It is tougher than most of the new ones out there. I don’t care if it isn’t fancy, all i care about is it bringing me home and giving me one hell of a time

They do seem to break a lot less than most of the new ones. I'm very pleased with mine!

great video indeed. I felt the same way- didn't want to pay 20 grand for a toy and flat out wasn't. Yes, things needed to be done as wheel bearings ,ball joints but learned how to do! I look at it as paid for. omg- clutch had a stuck 2 way or 1 way bearing-whichever it had with the rapid release secondary- hard shift and grind and sporadic clutch engagement, squealing-esp in high. Now with duraclutch- can't even feel in clunk in gear!

I like to pay for my toys in cash and I really don't have room to stretch the legs of a 1000 or turbo. I also don't use it as much as others so it suits me well. The duraclutch looks pretty sharp!

What's your thoughts on the new RZR XP?

@Rugged Adventures I've always heard bad things about Polaris for reliability, but it seems like a lot of people here are vouching for the 800. I'm more of a Can Am guy, but as far as I'm aware there's nothing as cheap as the RZR 800

It just takes patience. I picked up a ‘13 with a title in good shape. Even got an entire outlaw lift kit and 33” gladiators thrown in for free. Only 6500. Watch marketplace and be ready to pull from the hip really fast!

Try adjusting the compression settings but it may be that they are bad. Your springs may not have enough preload either.

The only problem with the 800 is the ground clearance. All the newer machines have BIGGER tires causing bigger and deeper ruts

Rugged Adventures I have an 800 with a two inch lift and two inch wheel spacers and I'm currently looking to put bigger tires on it. My head hurts from reading what tires will fit and what won't. Also thinking of getting the same size tire all the way around. 28x10x 14. I'm worried 29s won't fit.

Unfortunately I don't know much about the 50s. Seems like I've seen 29s on 50s but I'm not sure what models or even if the trail 900s and 1000s are much different than the 800s.

Not the 900s and 1000s. Those have nearly identical double A arm suspensions like the 800s. The newer XPs and Turbo S models have trailing arms.

Reliable? My dick hole I’ve replaced 2 top ends 4 throttle cables my wheel hub literally just snapped from the force of turning and that’s just a few things. I still have my a becasue I dont want a payment
