I had the same problem with my 2012 Accord. Had a leak somewhere and it was dripping down. Causing the alternator to fail. What I do now is Keep a close eye on any leaks When I get the oil changed. I've also replaced all the wheel bearings on my car. It now has 250,000 miles. As the temperature rises, You may want to think about having your engine steam cleaned so you can better identify any current leaks. I used to live in a very Cold climate similar to Canada here in the States. My cars would always have leaking seals more often than if you're in a warmer part of the US.

Got the 2,2 turbo diesel. Regular oil changes a must. Rear calipers seize up. Exhaust manifolds crack, this was a silent recall fault so if not serviced by main dealers might not be picked up on, but the main dealers might service your car and turn a blind eye hoping to run out the warranty time. Airbag factory recall, this is a free replacement passenger airbag. Not particularly fast, economical or cheap to run. But a nice comfy cruiser @80 mph 44mpg 0-60 around 9secs and around 130 bhp if I recall. I found the heater controls a bit to discrete and awkward also.

@@jupiterbullish2520 Yep. Any accord 08-12 with the 4 cylinder will have this issue if the phaser hasn't been replaced already. It's not hard to repair, if you have done a valve adjustment on this engine you are capable of replacing the phaser. My advice is to have a very well calibrated torque wrench for the cam journal caps and to clearly mark the timing chain with a paint marker. The camshaft has a keyway so you can only install the phaser one way

Have a 2010 2.4l with 230k miles and never had any of these problems. No mention of the excessive oil consumption caused by a faulty piston ring design? Honda did have a TSB and an extended warranty to repair this with redesigned parts but since it wasn't a "recall" they told no one unless you happened to bring your car to Honda for this issue and only agreed to fix the most egregious cases leaving many of these cars floating around suffering from this issue. The only problem the car has had which I consider to be unusual was the starter died at 70k miles. Replaced with a new part from Honda and has been good ever since. Interestingly, the original starter was tagged made in USA the replacement was tagged made in Japan. That and annoyingly the damn hood strut holder! I've had to replace that like 3 times already. Not only is it an annoying thing to have break, when it does break I have to find a means to secure the hood strut in place so it's not just flopping around. This is especially irritating due to the oil consumption issue which means every 1k miles (about 3 or 4 weeks) I have to pop the hood to top the engine off with oil. Also did I mention how bad oil consumption is for the incredibly expensive catalytic converter?

We bought a 2010 Honda Accord V6 with low mileage and after driving roughly 3000 miles found out the number 3 cylinder was letting oil onto the spark plug which fouled it and we got flashing engine light. This was a problem with the V6 and they told us we missed the recall.Today I’m still driving it and I change that plug around 5000 miles.

You should look into disabling the vcm system which allows the engine to go into eco mode, disabling 3 cylinders during certain driving conditions to save fuel. It is this system which allows oil into the number 3 cylinder, fouling the spark plug and causing the engine misfire. There was a recall on this but it only paid to get the problem diagnosed and the spark plug replaced. The ultimate solution is to disable the vcm. There are many ways to do this, I did it with the vcm muzzler. I too have a 2010 Accord with the V6.

You mentioned the coil and misfire problems. You could have discussed what causes this in the 6 cylinder engine which is the variable cylinder management (VCM). Check for cracks in the big intake hose from the air filter to the throttle. Then check for holes in the exhaust before the rear muffler. Then replace the O2 sensors. Start with the one near the main CAT first. New CAT should be your last resort. If you do replace the CAT you should replace the O2 sensors with it. So if you end up having to do that then why not start with the sensors to see if that solves the issue for less money. CATs can take some serious abuse for a long time before they die.

I’ve read the comments , the seating and interior aged quite well, it’s an EX-L with all the options besides the manual and sunroof as well as the heated mirror option. Anyway...the only issues that occurred to me where my spark plugs 🔌 , Oil pan ( from the car bottoming out ) and my inner break calipers locking up at certain times while driving certain speeds..weird I know. As following , the only bolt ons I have currently are a K&N cold air intake , and NGK Performance spark plugs. And it makes a HUGE difference in power , as well as the V-tech kicking in @ high speeds w the help of a cold air intake , it’s so stupidly fast I’m almost scared haha. I agree with the other guy. Just because I swapped out like 5 abs sensors on my front passenger side when I replaced my wheel bearing that was toast. I only went through 4 (advanced auto) after purchasing the sensor for 20 bucks more at my local dealership.

I bought my 2009 Accord new, other than break pads no repair work. Only 58k miles, at this rate I may become last person in CA still driving a gas car. They'll have to pry my Honda from my cold dead hands 😁

I’m surprised so many people have had issues. I keep up with everything, very minimal maintenance and have clocked 296k on the car. 355k total. Just normal maintenance

We have a 2012 accord 4 cylinder. Ac doesn’t work. New compressor and expansion valve. New relay and pressure switch. Clutch won’t engage. Jumper it to recharge. System capacity is 14-15 ounces. I got 12 oz in it. Still won’t engage and high side is up over 400 with fans off. 300 with fans on. Ambient temp of 95°. Only thing left to change is condenser and drier. Both are on the way from 1aauto. After that I’m at a loss. That was with pulling vacuum to 29 for an hour.

the battery recharging problem with my accord was not the alternator but the amount of multimedia installed in the car somehow. It was discharging 100% if I didn't use the car for 4~6 days. After I disabled the reverse camera it never happened it again.

Have a 2008 with same engine as in video and it leaks at the base of t eng oil dipstick. It drips right on top of alternator n continues to ac compressor. After a while it'll burn both. Have not figure out how to stop that leak. Any help is much appreciated.

I have a 2008 accord. I just dropped it off to change my whole engine. Get yours to a good mechanic for a proper diagnosis.
