    Superb # 5, you could not have stated it any better, art is a fingerprint and each finds his path to that fingerprint.

    When I saw title of video, I was thinking about The Tisch. My favourite workhorse! Also, Ivory brushes are amazing. Perfect fit between Hog and Sable. I also use cheap Georgian and Graduate brushes from Daler Rowney and they're doing the job!

    Love your channel. I'm new to oil painting and you have so many great tips that have helped more than others. I struggle to know what kind of brush and size to do tiny details such as around eyes and lips. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    My preference lately is the michael klien round brushes from rosemary and Co. Get a variety of sizes: small to mid-size for the subtle plane changes in the eyes and mouth.

    @@tannersteedart Thanks for the advice. Through your link I ordered the brushes you recommended in the video. Looking forward to getting my first RM&Co order. The customer service is great and fast as you know already. On another note I'm hoping you might do a glazing video, unless I haven't found it yet. Thanks again.

    They make great brushes, but I have also had luck with so many random brushes from the local art store. I do not believe that any particular brand is better than the other. It is up to an artist to develop the technique to make the brush do what the artist wants it to do! :)

    I prefer very soft round brushes for glazing. Rosemary and co have an evergreen series that I love for this purpose.

    Which oil paint brushes that bristol don't come off the brushes handle.?

  • @tannersteedart

    @tannersteedart

    2 жыл бұрын

    Rafael and rosemary and Co have excellent hog hair/ bristol brushes. But no matter the brand, if you are aggressively painting with the same brush painting after painting you will find that they naturally degrade no matter the brand. You can always try to reattach the bristles and the handle back on using superglue. Just FYI I have had to do this on multiple brushes due to heavy use. Let me know if that answers your question.

    @@tannersteedart I shop at Michael's art store craft and blick art store in Pasadena California.? Bristles on the brush it breaks apart on the canvas.? Sorry if not explaining this right.

    @@Thekappa oh so you're saying the bristles fall off onto the canvas while you paint? I have heard people having luck by superglueing the base of the hairs so they all attach to one another more securely. I've had this problem too, but eventually the brush stops shedding.

    I tend to use several different types of brush based on what im doing lol but i have to admit i do love filberts have various sizes and can be very versatile brush. Flats are good very good control. Rounds i dont use as much unless doing very fine details then use a very fine round brush. My god your crap brush is similar to mine hahaha. I have to say ive used cheap brushes and have found i still use some of them and they end up suprising me - note not all were good many were just plain crap 😂.

    @@tannersteedart well i'm encouraged to check out that other artist you mentioned more fully as his work is amazing "with junk brushes' but watercolorists do need quality brushes to spring back up so at times it's crucial like with DETAILS and that one hair is going sideways and affecting your detail. (I'm trying to learn to loosen up in my oils ).

    Lol! Brushes are just a tool to move paint from the palette to the canvas, but of course rosemary and co provide some very delicate and unique ways to apply a brush stroke. The point is, you don't need the most expensive gear to create an excellent painting!
