For many people myself included the visual appeal of a modular system is what gets them hooked. I started to DIY a modular system because I knew I would spend so much money and probably get bored with it very quickly. But with the diy designing your own modules is part of the fun. Though I will say it is very time consumming

Batumi is super awesome especially with the Poti expander a game changer. But it is not new in 2021. It came out few years before that.

How are you going from the Xkey into the Deckard's? Via a MIDI->CV box and if so, which one?

Thanks for stopping by! I've got the MIDI 1U (intellijel) hooked up into my Ableton PC (off camera because I track my KZread audio to my mac during filming) The XKey is MIDIed to the Ableton PC using the MIDI 1U. The MIDI 1U can send Gate/Octave signal to Deckard's voice. This setup isn't optimized for performance, but for filming! :). I would make slight adjustments and make it more standalone if this was an actual performance! :) Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

Regarding warm synth voices: have you played with the Knobula from Poly Cinematic yet ?

The thing that keeps me away from the STMIX is having the jacks next to the knobs. Isn't it hard to manipulate when fully patched?

Yeah… same with some of the mosaic 1U’s I have to end up turning it upside down. I recognize that at some point I need to invest in a larger “performance” mixers, especially with mutes and sends which is critical. But since I’m just experimenting and sound designing, my workflow doesn’t require critical access to volume. But yeah good point for sure. I think if performance is the focus ST maybe too tight. But for me, I get by and still feel like good value and space

So you recommend getting all of these or if you get deckards voice would you still need batumi quad lfo?

Well, deckards voice doesn’t have much in the way of modulation so yes the LFO would be useful. I mean the quad LFO is useful in pretty much any setup. But then again, the Deckards is such a great sounding mono voice that it can stand on its own no problem. It’s just up to you what you want to do. :)
