Well the hallway scene was like an horror moment to see and show how powerful he is while the i am your father just an statement and vader is more aggressive than talking and before the prequels existed we didn't knew why the fuck he said it

@@zachlaliberte2396 Back then you didn’t need so much VFX to make Vader frightening. He literally destroyed Luke effortlessly, and killed Obi Wan in the previous movie. He was already a big threat. All the hallway scene did was giving Vader a new cool scene in which he is badass and frightening with modern technologies, during a sequence that is completely useless for the movie itself. I mean you can cut it, it won’t change anything to the plot. The « I am you father » goes beyond a simple statement. It is the final reveal of the movie, as « why Vader spent so much ressources on finding Luke specifically ». There is a character arc going on for Vader here. It is a climactic plot twist, which ends up with Luke choosing almost certain death rather than joining Vader. And by doing this, Luke won this battle. It was an emotional war going on during the whole movie. You think Vader gets the edge when throwing the line, because he literally shatters Luke’s world and believes about good and evil, about the Jedi and the empire. He has no choice but to join his newly found father, or die. And right here, Luke wins by rejecting Vader. Luke broke Vader here. Vader is alone, during ANH and the beginning of ESB, you see him as this menacing, haunting figure, without any emotion. And right after this scene, when the Falcon escapes with Luke, instead of chocking admiral Piet for his failure, Vader does not do or say anything. Staring at the darkness. He lost everything he was fighting for. He is alone. Here we see Vader becoming a man, beyond the terrifying machine. The « I am your father » scene is not just a vague and cryptic statement, it is the pivotal point of two character arcs for the two main figures of the trilogy. The son choosing good over evil at all cost, despite all of his believes being destroyed, and the father, finally revealing his true self : a lonely and broken man behind the mask

@@zachlaliberte2396 Bruh at the time Episode 4 came out we never saw Obi Wan, are you dumb ? In ANH, before any other SW content was released, Obi Wan was the Ultimate incarnation of good, of the light Side, leading Luke in his heroic quest. And Vader killed him, establishing him as a threat

The scene behind that, is the newest interaction Vader has with obi wan: “I’m not your failure, Obi Wan. You didn’t kill… anakin Skywalker… I did.” … that… that scene carries everything that anakin is and has become. With a double edged meaning and a masterpiece directed scene. It ties Vader and his history together to who he has become.
