#1. rule in buying fireworks: Always do your homework and research the product before you buy it. #2. Buy by the case: It's usually cheaper if bought in bulk. #3. Heavier isn't always better. #4. Be wary of special on sale items, that's a good way to move merchandise that doesn't sell well because it under performs.

Sadly, 99% of customers go to a fireworks store having done absolutely no research at all, and 90% enter a fireworks store or go to a stand not even knowing what they want. They just "want some fireworks" and they expect the sales staff to hand-hold them through the entire shopping process. What other type of business do customers go to having no idea what they even want?

Excellent video! I always talk about the math too. 60 grams is the max you can legally fit in a canister. Also, 60 grams will fit into a four inch can, so the 5, 6, and 7 inch stuff doesn't mean much to me. I ALWAYS watch a product video before I buy anything, but it's even better to also find a video of the product shot by random consumers because sometimes the company's official product videos seem to be a little overloaded compared to what they actually sell you.

Bro I’ve never been into fireworks n ended up spending a big amount for my nieces nephews my son. & family who never buy & I’d say one of the biggest mistakes I made was picking boxes like Zeus or Excalibur or artillery shells thinking they were the greatest things ever (they are fun, beautiful, go really high, sound loud) but I personally would choose 200G cakes with a couple of 500G ones next time. Yeah canisters last longer to pop since it’s one by one but cakes are back to back especially quality ones & I feel like back to back fireworks are better than having to load up one ball after another.

Yes I agree, but a mistake is just a learning experience. Stock up the bulk of the shells with dollar shells. A pack or 2 of canisters are an amazing addition however it's too expensive to only launch canisters so the bulk of them should be the dollar shells honestly. One good tip for budget shows, Never underestimate roman candles, a Roman candle rack can bring a budget show to the next level.

imo 200g cakes are the best bang for buck for a cookout or small party. If you hit a store when they are hitting 50% off, emerald city + red white and boom are my two favorite 16 shot cakes and be had for $12 a piece. 50g mortars are the best overall, canisters are amazing... you can light 1-4 at a time, 30 second fuse and 50g is pretty big for non licenses. I paid $150 for a 24 shot 50g canister mortar and all 24 lasted about 5 minutes and gave a good show. I usually use about 5-10 200g cakes for the grand finale.

This is my personal experience with canister shells. 60 grams is the legal limit. So a 60 gram 6" is going to pack the same punch as a 60 gram 4" shell. However, in all of my experiences so far, the 5" is a larger display in the sky than the 4" and the 6" is larger than the 5". Same punch, but it fills up the sky more. However, there are also instances of shells being OL, or over loaded. A prime example of this are the og death shells and the master series. The og death shells had roughly 70-80 grams packed into a 5" shell. Making it one of the hardest hitting shells out there for a time period. That's where doing your research comes in handy. The death shells have been regulated sense then, but if you do your research you may find more that are OL. So when someone brings a 60 gram 4" shell expecting it to be big and loud because it's packed tighter in the shell, you'll be able to show them up by shooting an OL 6" shell packing 80+ grams. Do your research and you'll never be disappointed.

Agree with your points. I'll add that rockets are still fun, but there must be more care in lighting those because you don't want it to tilt. Also agree on doing research. I'll add that when people do research, don't just look at the videos by the brand or store doing it. Because what I found often times is that those videos will have overloaded demos. You'll see a bit of flash in the breaks and everything just looks bigger and brighter. But in reality it doesn't hit like that. Brothers is known for doing this a lot. So look at a variety of videos by real consumers. And I completely agree on the shot count. I don't understand why people want more shot count in a 500g cake. More shot counts = smaller tubes and less powder. If they're going to do that, they might as well buy 200g cakes and fuse them together because the breaks will be the same size and overall cheaper in price. If someone is going to buy a 500g cake, go buy one that has bigger tubes and less shots. That means most likely it will have bigger, louder, and more vibrant breaks. That's also why I recommend against zipper cakes. Zipper cakes can go up to $300 or more. But they're limited to 500g of powder just like any other 500g cake that costs $40. I haven't seen a single consumer zipper that looked good and or was worth it. I see some people recommending to buy by the case. That's true, but ideally I wouldn't recommend that for the average consumer. The average consumer is going to have a limited budget and for them to buy a couple cases with the same exact items, it will mess up their own show. Now if they have others to pitch in with them, then I'm all for it. But for the average consumer who's just buying for himself, I suggest looking for variety and good deals on high quality fireworks. But to reiterate, the most important thing to do is research. A 200g cake may have 250g. A 500g cake may be 300g. Different companies go by different rules. Some companies skip the 350g term. So if their cakes has just a bit over 200g, they may list it as 500g.

The only difference is that retailers can only be open a certain period of time of the year. So if you want to shoot fireworks right now, it’s not illegal. No obviously there’s more technicals because it’s your in city limit then of course you cannot shoot fireworks anytime of the year however, shooting fireworks is not legal in Texas anytime of the year.

@zomboz8812 You can still purchase m-80s, cherry bombs, ash cans and blockbusters, The only problem is I guarantee that you are not going to light a single one of them! Depending on the condition of the box as well as the condition of the salutes prices can vary! I have four boxes of cherry bombs that look like they were just produced yesterday, A unopened case of cherry bombs was discovered a couple of years ago after the owner passed away! I was offered $1200 for 1 boxed cherry bombs! M-80s are much cheaper but these are collectibles not shooters! As for quarter sticks and blockbusters those were never produced by companies they were always produced and sold behind buildings and in dark garages! Fireworks is just like any other hobby once you immerse yourself in that world what you thought was long gone is simply hidden in plain sight! If you are going to search for such products the best piece of advice I can give you is never ask anyone where you can get such items or where you should start looking, You wouldn’t ask a person in the comment section or out in the open where you could purchase an 8ball of coke would you! I have seen Fire crackers sitting on the shelf in a fireworks store that were louder than the quarter sticks in the 80s! Happy hunting

You're only allowed 60g shells max w/o license for bigger, and 60g canister can easily fit in 4 or 5 inch shells LoL. 60g is 60g of powder, 4 inch shell is packed! These are all excellent and true points! Moontravelers and standard 80/16 fire crackers are my favorites, economical fun.

@spoot8835 Wow you must know a lot about fireworks, The only problem is you don’t know what you don’t know! As soon as I read where you said 60g is 60g of powder told me that you should not be giving anyone advice! You do realize that 60g Must be split between the Lift charge and burst charge, Meaning a company can use less for lift and more for burst which means that particular shell would Break a little lower but the burst is going to be much louder and appear larger! There is all types of tricks companies can do to make their product better than others! Usually when people are comparing canister shells red apples name is not usually mentioned! I am not saying that they’re products are bad just that I never hear that their products are the best!

@@NeverEnoughPyro40 my point is 60g is 60g doesn't matter how it's split up there won't be more powder than 60g. If it comes in a 4inch shell it's still 60g max 5 or 6 inch shell it's still 60g max. There's a requirement for how much lift it must have too. Echo in the ear are personally the loudest consumer ones I've heard they're 5in shells, so you might be on to something there a bit.

#1 mistake of being an owner of a fireworks store and having all those artillery shells and I did not see one box of salute shells. That's terrible.

@robw5943 Of course you didn’t see a box of salutes that would be illegal, If you want salutes you would need to go get your license and then you can go purchase salutes!
