that title image makes be a bit angry because using THICK domino lines in: . . . . turns , detailed fields and questionable projects is good but you DON'T need to make the straight lines that thick . . . that's a bit of an overkill . . . and call the thick line the wright option is a bit insulting come on hevesh5 that is far from the best option

3 is the most frequent one for me lol. Also some mistakes that I do are putting a domino line waaaaaay to close to a big wall

Oh
Other common mistakes: Forgetting to fill in a safety gap making a tall structure fall first which crashes the other parts building "back to front" when a small part fails but you get so angry you decide to just knock the rest over when you accidentally knock a part down while building, but then in an attempt to save it you dive into the rest of the dominoes letting your cat in playing soccer/catch in the house while forgetting you have a setup playing with nerf guns stomping

so many relatable moments 💀 glad we can share in this together lol
The 5th one is so relatable, and me being a builder with majority wooden dominoes, it’s pretty difficult to avoid having uneven Type Walls or even Shorter than usual walls for that matter. One Mistake that I keep doing in never try out risky things in a setup just because I have an inner fear that it would fail. I am a Builder who builds maybe twice or thrice a week, and get to make one Setup a Day, so I always fear that the Setup might fail, and end up with a day with no setup. It’s a thing that I am trying to change, but it comes up with the consequence that I don’t get to upload as often as usual, which I find is better than making my domino setups too similar to my old ones. This is a great video you made Lily, would help the beginners a lot.

yeah unfortunately I think the uneven wall problem is unavoidable with wooden dominoes :/ I began with wooden dominoes so I fully understand what you mean. It's doable, but definitely more difficult to set up. In terms of the fear of failing thing, just know that it's the failures that will actually make you become a better builder in the end! without failure, there is little innovation. you'll get there though. slowly but surely try to embrace the idea of failure because it's subtly a blessing in disguise :)
This is such a great helpful video! I definitely make some of these mistakes. My sister (who’s not a domino builder)said “you should make it kinda bad and sketchy so it falls easier” and my response was “no penny that’s not what Hevesh does” we look up to you ❤️

The last mistake is my most common one. My walls, and other structures, are really uneven.
Also, want to give you that you are the best domino artist ever and giving us tutorials how to build stuff and showing us you knocking down!
I see too sharp curves and other spacing problems often with new builders! Those improvements are major!
I know I’ve said this before but thank you for these videos they are so helpful
This video is useful to me. I often had done some mistakes while building dominoes. Forgetting to fill in safety gaps is the biggest mistake that I had ever done. I had this mistake in my final setup at Domino Rally 5 video. Anyway, this video will be useful to me. Thanks Lily for showing some ways to solve the mistakes! Keep on building! Lily! Side note: The Number 3 mistake, it also had another way to avoid them. If you want to do a really compact setup, Instead of putting 2 dominoes of space. You can also do the barriers by taping sideways dominoes on the floor.
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, the classic "forgot to fill in the safety gap" error xD Great tip to tape down sideways dominoes as barriers - I do that all the time!
honestly i like large spacing. i can feel the "domino effect" more clearly
One of my biggest problems is trying to knock down a structure that’s too tall with a small to large set. A field starter is a chain of 90 degree turns with one domino each, so it’s doable if you’re careful. But even then sometimes lines don’t fall, so using more dominoes is definitely recommended.
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
Yup that's another common one! Fieldstarters usually work if built correctly. I frequently see new try to make a normal turn rather than a fieldstarter though (which is offset halfway between the last straight domino)
This is very helpful 👍
Great tips! :)
I really like your domino creator autographs boards! Great idea!🤗

I would add: connection lines in a large setup that are timed too shortly, so that the next part will start before the previous one has finished toppling. It makes it chaotic to watch (sometimes that can be the desired effect, of course). For some reason it took me really long to learn that one.
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's another good one!! This took me a while to learn as well. You don't really notice it until after you finish the project and watch it back, but having more backup lines than you think is necessary can help.
I my domino contest which u have held I forgotten to fill many of the safety gaps and hence the domino art was a fail, however this video will be very useful for the beginners and for domino artists Thank you
I don’t have any mistakes I do but when everything is perfect in my building structure, I check everything and when it is ready to get knocked down, some parts don,t even knock even though the path is actually connected.
Please can you show the video of the building of the H5 Intro

truth
On #2 it is not usually considered a mistake if you build this on a carpet. The friction is so high it reduces the chances of fails. This is important when making certain tricks that require carpets!
My domino's biggest mistake is that sometimes I forget dominos between the setup.
I had often spaced dominoes too far. Fortunately, they always fell down
I've actually finds video on this before But they are more complicated than these Like q and a scams or dumb comments, or something like that But these are definitely more helpful Nice sweater
Neat video. The thing that I tend to mess up on the most is testing piano lines... without thinking about the fact that if you knock down a piano technique from the middle, it falls both directions.
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
ooh yeah that trick can be a bit precarious
We solved a turning problem by using a leaning turn. One of our big mistakes is using a leaning turn, but not protecting the line from the domino that gets kicked out 6 to 8 inches. Another big problem my daughter and I have is putting sonimod domiones too close together. They really need to be on the edge. Hey community, where can I purchase the small to large sets to knock down bigger structures? Is there a template/pattern to build the sets from wood? Is there also a wooden spinner pattern online?
I got my attention from you❤
Definitely(if no one has mentioned this) is sometimes we forget to fill in the safety gaps XD this is really a common mistake
I use 5 angled dominoes when I curve the line im making
Sonimod line is too thick is also quite common.
I can relate 2, 3, and 5 1 is too stupid to be make lol
I think a big reason why new domino creators tend to space dominoes too far apart or make too sharp of a curve stems from not having many dominoes to start with but wanting to make longer tricks. By the time they amass a collection of dominoes that actually makes it possible to make longer, more intricate tricks these bad habits have become an ingrained. It then becomes something to have to unlearn.
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
Interesting theory, I can see that.
I only have. Few dominoes but if I go close I will only get a line that’s short so I space them two or two and a half dominoes and it’s still reliable
I saw you in Mark robers video
3:04 R.I.P Red domino😭😭
I like to reconnect cutt offs so once it failed because of a less curve
I haven’t made any of these mistakes because I’ve never used dominos before
Went I do screenlink, I topple the structure, the domino hit the barrier and barrier hit the out line and the out line stop and the whole scene is stop, and I have to change my camera angel to get the scene work
5:30 I was wondering how even after my structure toppled, it still remain standing I even a video about
Don't put any dominoes too close to the outside of turns. On the inside, nothing will probably happen.

Amazing information 👍🏻👍🏻 I do the structure one mistake.. I know it will fail but I have to take risk because of shortage of dominoes.. Also it depends on the type of domino.. For eg : for plastic dominoes you are recommending to have a domino wall atleast 13 layers high but in case of wooden dominoes it should be atleast 15 - 17 layers high as wooden domjnoes have irregular surfaces and they fail.. But you can take risk if you want.. Btw big fan.. Love from India.. And keep on building.. And I have a ques hevesh, are you preparing any special video for the Domino day?? It's on 17th November??
@H5dominocommunity
2 жыл бұрын
That's true - depending on the type of dominoes, the recommended layer height for a structure may vary because some are more slippery or grippy than others. Hm I actually didn't know that Domino Day was on Nov 17th! Is this a thing that the community celebrates now?
