Some things that come to mind here in florida; *People seem to forget everyday items are the most important, food, water, blankets, pillows, TOWELS, etc. *Water is plentiful here but rarely safe to drink, something like a lifestraw is very appealing. Low weight, low cost, easy to pack. *Flares are a no go here, fire concerns. Smoke on the other hand, legal and very handy. *Radios are handy but if they can't transmit, not so much. Sure you can listen to local broadcasts but most of the time you'd rather be talking to somebody rather than listening. So an extra battery or one of those solar batteries for your cell phone would be a better choice. Also your phone can use an AM/FM radio app and get the same functionality. *If you take medicine on the regular be sure to pack extra. Should go without saying but ALWAYS have your meds handy. Snacks too, gummies last a long time (shelf life of several years easily) and generally are pretty tolerable.

No joke those portable cell charging batteries are a bad idea to me in florida, especially to leave in a bag you may be leaving in your car in Florida. One burned up the interior of my friend’s car this summer when it spontaneously combusted from the heat, and I live a lot further north than Florida.
I love it when veterans and Marines talk, talk, and talk.... Especially, the shaggy dog stories.
Only thing I’d add is a sling if you have a long gun. Nice to have two hands available without setting it on the ground.
Rest assured I am always willing to sit through the long version, and am particularly fond of the yeahbuts and caveats. Thanks Paul and Roy for your valuable wisdom and time.
Lovely long chat with Roy and Paul with a beautiful backdrop. What a great way to end my work day. Have an awesome day everybody!
I inherited an Armalite AR-7 last year and finally took it out to the range a while back. Wretched is a good word for it. It came with a pile of magazines and I gave up before they were all empty. At least it wasn't quite as difficult to clear as the Ruger Mk.1 I also inherited and brought. That genuinely needs three hands.

Paul, I don't know if you're still reading the comments and I know that my voice is one of many that you've likely heard before. I want to say that you're an inspiration to us all and I think it's rare for guntubers to put out such in depth and informative content like you. I don't think I have commented before but when I first purchased a personal hand gun (I was in the military for 6 years and have some experience there) your content was some of the best advice through data and lived experience. I now have an associates degree in firearm technology, do protection work, and am slowly working towards becoming a firearm instructor myself and without a doubt you are someone who is an inspiration to many and especially for me. I feel bad that when I was in the area I missed out on your meet and greets. You are an amazing human and a legend.
