And this is also one thing that the movies with Tony Jaa from Thailand (Ong Bak) and actors from Indonesia such as Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim and Yayan Ruhian (from Raid, Raid 2 and The Night Comes for Us) have surpassed to a great degree, the camerawork enhances the action (instead of hiding it) and all the actors are experienced martial artists, they know what they're doing and so does the director.

What makes the John Wick franchise stand out, in terms of how the actors are trained both with firearms & in hand-to-hand combat and how the action is shot/edited/choreographed, is the fact that the 2 guys behind these movies, C.Stahelski/ D.Leitch, are former stunt coordinators/martial artists. They know how a fight scene or shootout should look on screen, so that's exciting for the viewers. Most movie directors are clueless about these things.

  • @helifanodobezanozi7689

To be fair to the hand to hand fights in the Bourne series, the issue with the fights (shakey cam) was more of an issue with the director not knowing how to block and shoot a fight scene. The fight choreographer on Bourne, Jeff Imada, was not only a film industry mentor to Chad (John Wick's director) but they both also trained under the same primary martial arts instructor, Dan Inosanto, with Jeff being the more senior student. The techniques in the two series are all drawn from the same source, Inosanto's broad curriculum, with Bourne favoring more Filipino Martial Arts (Kali) and John Wick being more geared towards grappling (Judo, BJJ, Shoot Wrestling.)

@@SolidMikeP - Check your ammo. I have 4 and none have jammed except with some steel case ammo my dad had bought to break in his Kimber. (it hated it too.) But anything I've loaded gets eaten by my my USPs without fail. They are a great overall pistol and my USPC 45 is more accurate than the Kimber Custom II 1911 that I have.

Really great video! The reason I became interested in firearms was because of Harrys Model 29.Great to see it as Tarans favourite. He has a great taste in films. Im a big fan of Michael Manns films and Thief is a masterpiece ,that Hoag 45 longslide Gold Cup was a beauty!

You can't convince me that Taran wasn't trolling in this interview. "Hey Taran, top 5 movie guns, what are they?" "Well James you asked for 5, but really there's only 2. Magnum Chambered revolver or 1911" Love that man
