FFX is my favorite game of all time. Yes, great love story. Great story all around.

Brigid Kemmerer is a fave for great Romantasy!

I love the romance in Blade of Secrets and Master of Iron! The main character's social anxiety (which I also struggle with) amps up the tension and sweetness.

Try “Radiance” by Grace Draven. It’s political, character grow and political.

My favorite relationship in a book is the relationship between Iseult and Aeduan in the witchland series by Susan Dennard. It are two very complicated characters that have trouble dealing with emotions, but they form such a strong connecting throughout the series. I also loved the Bridge kingdom, the first two books had the best love story, but the third really was not not my thing. The inadequate heir focused way to much on the smut.

What's this, another aspect where over 20 years later FFX can still be used as an example of one of the most well crafted pieces of art/media/whatever in the genre? Great video, can't wait to dive into some of your recommendations!

Radiance by Grace Draven is my all time favorite romance, but most of her other books are up there as well for me.

I agree! Radiance is for me much better than the Bridge Kingdom. Not enemies to lovers but they genuinly try to make it work and they characters fit to one another. A soulmate trope does not exist but it feels like one. The BK starts so strong that I was thinking wow it is going to be a blast! But chapters 16-24 were draging the story...grand fight and truth in chapter 25, if you want to skip.

I was fortunate enough to get to read an ARC for Encyclopedia of Faeries and I'm so happy to see it getting such good reviews now that it's been released! It was so much fun to read. ❤️

I love the relationship in the War of Lost Hearts series by Carissa Broadbent. Max and Tisaanah are top tier for me.

I’m obsessed with final fantasy. Found it around age 10 I think and have been obsessed for almost 20 years 🖤🖤

Awesome recommendations. I'm going to check them out! My favorite recent read has been Paladin's Strength. It really hits well to see a couple in their late 30s, with their comfortable banter and reliance on each other. It's so healthy and wholesome that I felt confident that they could achieve anything together.

The charmed sphere by Catherine Asaro. Politics, unique magic system and very sweet romance. Catherine Asaro works came out at the same time as Mercedes Lackey. Similar style

Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite games of all time, definitely my favorite characters.

Highly recommend Daughter of No Worlds! The relationship between Max and Tisanaah was amazing and I loved the plot! Such a bingeable book 😊

I am not a romance girly but I really liked Payback's a Witch, I really liked the balance between the fantasy and romance elements and the fall vibes were perfection!

I really love the romantic relationship in Warbreaker. And my all time favorite 'romance' is Daughter of the Forest

Your editions are so pretty! I love all the blue and gold. I read the witches book and enjoyed it. I definitely want to eventually read the rest on this list.

I agree, I really like romance that has more to it then only romance or sex. To me it has to be more to it then only that. I also really like my couples to be equal, not in personality but more there ideals,virtues,strength,etc… I’m pretty picky what I like in romance and it’s kinda hard to find what I like 😅

I have very similar tastes to you on this front, and I definitely recommend you try the Innkeeper series by Ilona Andrews! Excellent mix of plot and world-building with a slow burn love story mixed in. Also lots of political drama. It's so good!

I would recommend the Drowned Empire series, it’s got fantastic characters as the story develops, complex world building and magic and definitely had that political intrigue you want!

i highly highly recommend The Blood Grace Series by Vela Roth... the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing... the romance is angsty and slow burn... the smut is brilliant and i´m only on book two, but it´s the best fantasy romance i read so far...

You sold me on Final Fantasy X being a great love story! Unfortunately I'm not super into video games, is there a novelization or any book with a similar love story? If I ever do play more video games, Final Fantasy X will for sure be on my "to play" list.

Final Fantasy X and X-2 are my fave games of all time.

I just found a series called Elves of Eldarlan - read the series in 2 days... they are sweet, clean Fantasy romances with good plots and a strong writing style - they are not corny love stories with cheesy dialogue, which I really appreciated.

The Mousai trilogy by E. J. Mellow is a favorite fantasy romance that I discovered on my Kindle a while back. I've never heard anyone talk about it, and imo it certainly deserves more attention.

Oh I really loved very secret society of irregular witches. Might I reccommend a Taste of gold and iron, Marvelous light and Restless truth. A strange and stubborn endurance, Malum discordiae, Masters of death and One for your enemy

My favorite cozy romances are Swordheart and Paladins grace by T. Kingfisher, and Radiance by Grace Draven ❤

I think my favorite romance novels are the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger. They're Steampunk paranormal victorian fantasy. The first one is called Soulless and they follow Alexia Tarrabotti, who was born without a soul and can sort of... depower the undead. The worldbuilding's great and there's all sorts of love going on, but it's not too steamy at all.

omg i never thought i'd hear one of my booktubers speak about a final fantasy game LOL i agree completely about tidus/yuna and 'half a soul'. i genuinely think you'd enjoy most of bioware's romances-the mass effect (ME) and dragon age (DA) trilogies are some of the best rpg's to exist. they recently remade ME with updated mechanics and the next dragon age game is supposed to release either this year or next year but i 100% recommend the trilogy even with its janky controls. it's worth it for the storytelling and romances. i'm not gonna tell you what romances i think you'd like because i want you to go in knowing as little as humanly possible LOL i also don't think the newest ME (andromeda) is as bad as people made it sound.

I'm reading Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Fairies right now, and gosh it's hilarious 😂 Wendell 🤣🤣😍😍 my favorite fantasy couple growing up was Rhodry and Jill in the Deverry saga series by Katherine Kerr. Romantic hot impossible romance AND through out their different lives spanning 800 years, I think?. What's more romantic than that? 💖💖

If you love political fantasy, you should read the Glass Alliance Series by Joanna Hathaway. It’s one of my favorite series and political fantasy at its best. I read it after Rosaria Munda who wrote the Aurelian Cycle recommended it. Love the Aurelian Cycle, too!

Best book that balances the political and character side with the romance is Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught. I love the MC and how real and believable her actions are
