Space Engineers 2 definitely needs native tools for gears and chains. Pre-made blocks and tools for deploying them.

Or some type of rail/track, which would be useful for both elevators and trams.

Why SE 2 and not 1?

@@SirKolass The game engine SE1 runs on is almost at it's limits. It's an old game engine. SE2 gives Keen a chance to start fresh with a new much more capable game engine.

@@killman369547 I don't think that would put a strain on the engine, it's nothing complex really, the game already has pistons and stuff moving blocks, it would work in a similar way.
2 - The CLANGANATOR! On a more related note, I honestly think the first and foremost reason why we don't see more intricate engineering designs like these on a large scale, is the moment you start adding any amount of subgrids to your ships - especially if those ships are larger in size - you get massive performace hits to gameplay. Same for lights and any moving parts really. They look cool as a standalone concept, and you can potentially squeeze one elevator and a couple of custom turrets or whatnot on a ship, but the moment you start engineering any amount of custom moving parts (landing gears, elevators, cranes, custom turrets, angled screens, cosmetic subgrids etc) it tanks your framerate into unplayable territory. Looks awesome and immersive AF, but outside being eye-candy, nobody wants to fly around at 15-20 fps.

I can't exceed 24 fps with the toaster who is my pc so I think my graphics card will fry if I try that (I lost my sound card with the nuclear weapon mod)
The black armor piston and rotor elevator could be adapted to move sideways as well
I'm a little miffed that the counterweight elevator I made a while back during mad arron 3 didn't get put into this, but I guess these ones are a bit more unique and complex though. Some really cool builds to be sure.

Whats the name of it on the steam workshop? Sounds like a interesting elevator.

@@StarWarsExpert_ it's not on the workshop, but it got featured during one of the server tours for one of the mad arron iterations.
There are simply too many good, fun and interesting ideas to explore. I'm dying to implement some of this elevators systems in my ship and base. Thank you for the video
My halo 2 brain firing seeing that diagonal elevator
Clang approves this video. 👍⚙💥
Hey, that piston and rotor elevator is quite similar to some electromagnetically locked omnidireccional elevator designs. It could be upgraded with some work to have a second axis parallel to the wall, and you could even add a third axis by adding a moving bridge perpendicular to the wall under the elevator cabin, similar to a CNC system. Or mount the two axis to the ceiling and hang it like an overhead crane. It could make a great people mover for a big hangar, to move and work around lots of ships. Just add proximity sensors to avoid crashing yourself into the ships.
Im guessing with the introduction of Event blocks, the scriptless version of the black armor piston elevator could be improved
The last one reminds me of the sloped elevators at Junon in FF7
я помню очень давно делал космический лифт. кабина поднималась на орбиту на реактивной тяге. а спускалась просто падая в низ. и внизу тормозя. тут механика интересная в ролике
do you have the workshop link to the mech used on the chain elevator? really cool vid btw
Slopped was my favorate i gotta build one those into my bace
Nice video but I was hoping for a drone driven turbolift myself.
Need to make more rovers for LSG. The Landrover is another of mine you are using
Hello there =) , great video Can you investigate on the elevator that didnt work please? im very interested into that kind of issue. Ty and have fun ^^
Cool builds but I made a space elevator that goes over 100 m/s with boosters and I use suspension wheels but been looking for something decently fast that doesnt need boosters to go up
Neat
Imagine having a elevator on a space station and an explosive knocks the thing into space and your inside it it would suck

I would count myself lucky for being in an airtight box with a chance of being rescued.
How do you get the chain modules in place without Clang unleashing its wrath?

Make an offering. I used to connect chains like this in space with ships land landing gears.
There should be a vanilla elevator block/blocks in this game. Building an elevator should not be as much work as it is in this game.
Pandemic Playground channel was doing experiments with cogs and chains and elevators in the last 2 years.
The cheapest & simplest elevator is the one to be
"Straight out of Ha... Anime. and MGS"
A slanted elevator is a fernicular railway.
So cool but impossible to use it on server :(
Can only imagine what the chain one might do to a server hahahaha

@@LastStandGamers better you than me, if I was running a server and someone started trying to build a klang-chain to space I think I’d be putting a stop to it haha
Fun fact : The sliding elevator from Half-Life is actually from the manga Akira
