  • @legendofJupp
    @legendofJupp2 ай бұрын

    My personal honorable mention: Saracens It is the most forgiving civ. If you mismanage your economy (which happens to me all the time when i am under pressure), you can adjust your ressources through the market with far less waste than other civs. You are floating wood and need an defensive castle even though your forward stone is denied? Just buy it! Their archer rush is also "easy" in the sense that it's the only archer rush that can easily overcome walling due to the building bonus damage AND have an easy transition to castle age by just buying food. Other civs have to do far more difficult decision making when to stop/slow down their archer production, start building farms and transition to castle age At least in castle age, you can do whatever you want, just like Magyars. Just remember that your knights should not survive castle age😅

  • @GrandArchPriestOfTheAlgorithm
    @GrandArchPriestOfTheAlgorithm2 ай бұрын

    I see someone ask about the Mongols: Mongols is a great civ, but they are an attacking civ that demands your ability to raid while also managing your economy. And their best build, 18 pop (8 min blank) has little room for error. Furthermore, the strengths are dependent on your micro abilities. Mangudai is great because they’re easy to micro. Siege Onagers are fantastic when microed. Steppe Lancers are good at raiding, but you want to micro them, so you can pick the fights on the hills (Hill Lancers) or in the bottle necks.

    I disagree. The Viet are SUPER flexible. Thus making them rather difficult...especially for beginners. You have good archers, solid infantry and cav...however all of them are worse that other civs. You wont win by just spamming 1 Unit...like the Franks can do...or the Britons. You have to choose an good compesition against your enemy. And what begginer would know that against the Mayan u want Champions against eagle for example? Or light Cav against Siege? Or when do you want Archers and when Skrims...and when Handguns? And when do you want to include siege? And when do you go knights and when do you go elephants? Dont get me wong the Viet are my 2nd most played Civ, and i love them. But if someone doesn't know what they are doing just yet...i dont think Viet are the way to go.

  • @NowhereMan7

    @NowhereMan7

    2 ай бұрын

    I find noobs in team games are obsessed with relics, as well as trade carts and of course walls. Always making trade carts too early and valuing picking up relics over doing other more important stuff. You know who the noobs are on your team when trade carts start rolling through your base in early castle age. Or a player researches loom at the very start of the game and sends all three villagers and scout off to wall, leaving no working economy. Then the walling villagers have to walk all the way home again to collect food to keep the TC running. All that walk time when if they just waited a bit they could go wall and then place a lumber camp so no long walk home after. But yeah, a very new player is different to a "noob" in a 1200-1600 team game.

Here and there are flaws like having no blast furnance and wtf you got best fire ships when you have no cannon galleon, but besides that all in all I would recommend Byz to every beginner. Pretty much all rounded civ for beginners. And I think Franks need to be a bit nerfed with something some day, bcs sometimes they are unfair (although I always find the way to beat em 11).

  • @ozberkoz

    @ozberkoz

    12 күн бұрын

    A bit of late reply but I love the mesos so I have to write it lol. In my low elo around 1k, I had the most success with the Incas. They have a great dark age and amazing counter units in the rest of the game to deal with what enemy throws at you. I'm more of a defensive player and they fit me well. But funny enough I think the reason why Mesos perform differently in different elo ranges is related to the their inherit fast paced archers to eagles game. In high elo arabia, faster paced civs are always better but in low elo we give so much time to our opponent. And eagles are a bit tricky to play. They are amazing at raiding but countered hard by other gold infantry and knights which requires you to know when to do the switch correctly.

Buildings having more hp helps you to survive, it's just such a nice civ.

    Mastering civilizations with a clear game plan like Franks and Britons should definitely be done first before going for civilizations with broader tech trees like Magyars and Byzantines. It helps circumvent being overwhelmed with choices as you’ll know what to build and how to set up the economy for the composition you choose.

    For the Goths, I'd like to add that the lack of walls forces you to go for the early attacks that are meant to slow down the enemy ( you know, the usual feudal age shenanigans) because just staying in your base and being passive will lead to your defeat otherwise, wich is a nice habit to pick. The main flaw of picking them to learn the game is that you're not going to learn how to use stone walls any time soon...

    Dont fully agree with the list. I would definitely include teutons and vikings and remove goths/Britons. Cheaper farms, tons of free techs and free armor on your units is really nice, basically only countered by archers and archers are quite bad at low level. Free wheel and hand is an insane bonus at a lower level and means you're going to be miles ahead economically. All the other bonuses are passive as well.

    What about the Mayans? I know the fact of having no cav can be disturbing but I think it can be a great advantage as well since you do not have to think of getting these upgrades at the blacksmith or building stables. You have cheaper archers and eagles are such a good unit and even though it is a costly combination, especially goldwise, you have your ressources lasting longer. What I think is the easiest with the Mayans is that you always make more or less the same units and the same start: open archers and mix it with eagles in the Castle age. You can even start to mass eagles before castle age unlike knights. It is very straightforward in my opinion.

    Magyar is a off pick imo i say this as someone who just picked the game up like 3+~ weeks ago tho lol. I agree they have access to everything but bc they have 0 eco. but i get that a good scout rush puts you at more of a eco advantage than any bonus aswell. i feel like any civ w a decent eco bonus is "easier". but that advantage relies on a good scout rush, making them harder to play imo. ive been trying to play every civ since, i would say for infantry Sicillian is INSANE if you can pull off the 3-4tc searjent rush, I just had my most dominant victory ever w them. cav/siege Mongols for cav is insane, mangudai mass feels like cheating to me so i dont even play them. 40% faster hunting is just.. wat lol Same w Persians for cav, wood archers is literally the easiest strat in the game, with hussars for 0 gold, so you can have infinite elephants.. i dont play them aswell cuz theyre so cheap. khmer for infinite food is very ez and lots of options. tbh i tried playing a lot of the "classic but good" civs ie slavs and found them WAY more rough than the top tier civs. just my 2 cents. good content keep it rollin'.

    This makes a lot of logical sense, even if you did not mention all the underlying reasons - Huns: it's super easy for inexperienced players to get housed way too often - Magyars: Low ELO games usually tend to last very long, and that's where the Magyars shine, without having big gaps in the tech tree, and having a "trash" unique unit super helpful in those late game treb wars. - Britons: just like above, as low ELO games tend to last long, they have the time to reach their full potential with their super long ranged archers, and the slow careful defensive push very common for beginners. Assaulting is risky and feels scary, so why not whittle down their forces slowly and carefully? - Goths: low ELO games tend to float a lot of resources. Often games are decided by who can replenish the army quicker after a big battle in the center killed off almost every military unit. And if both players have thousands of resources in the bank, guess which civ can rebuild their army the fastest... - Franks: having all bonuses automatic is a huge thing, as low ELO, and even some mid ELO players often completely forget about researching upgrades, especially when the game gets chaotic enough.

    Japanese deserve at least an honourable mention. They're about as versatile as the Byzantines, and their cheap eco buildings make them especially forgiving to play when building an early economy, which is probably the hardest part of the game for inexperienced players.

    Nr1. Franks same reasons as in the video with the castle forward added Nr.2 berbers. Cheap knights go brrr. You can get away with worse eco management and you are basicallly guaranteed to be the agressor Nr3. Hindustanis. Everybody goes knights so i go camels. If they switch to halb i habe three great options. Plus great eco Nr.4 byzantine. Stronger building are great in the beginning and everything seems cheap. Nr.5 incas. Very easy concept to understand

    I strongly disagree with the list except Franks. Easiest civs should have passive advantages and eco bonuses like Franks. The better list should be Franks, Romans, Vikings, Ethiopians, Mongols, Tatars, Celts.

    TLDR: Britons are low win rate, perform especially badly at low to mid ELO levels. Consistently poor performance for months. Mostly been nerfed over DE's lifetime. One trick in nature. Archer micro is not easy. If it was the archer civs in general would perform better than all the cavalry civs that tend to dominate the upper win rates across the board. Got to disagree with Britons pick. They're one of the worst civs in the game currently overall AND one of the worst performing civs at low levels AND one of the worst archer civs. The stats back that up. On paper they're kind of easy to learn and if you do get good with them you could probably climb the ladder. They seem to do best at 1200+ ELO, seems people can actually abuse their castle age power spike of long range archers. They're still a popular civ even with 46%~ win rate across levels of play. At 6th most popular at that. If you get good with them sure you'll have some success abusing the long range but it's not a civ that's going carry you super high ELO. The fact remains a huge chunk of the player base are bad with them and if they were easy to master they'd be similar to Franks an actual easy to play civ, Franks who are consistent at all levels by comparison. Also to note. Civ balance is pretty good overall, there are some one sided match ups yes, but by general win rates they're pretty much the best I've seen them in years of looking at sites that track this kind of stuff. But Britons are kind of languishing in mediocrity at the moment and only really been nerfed over the years, and anti archer options being buffed (e.g. Goths or the Persian Savar). I don't know, the poster boy for archer civs just gets a "meh" out of me. Rather play the others unless I really think the range can be abused somehow in a team game. Stats as of writing this. Win rates for Britons 46.34%
