I'm not very good at drawing but the one thing i noticed since i started is that what makes a lot of great artists work look so good is subtlety. I myself try way too hard to emphasise certain aspects of a drawing and always end up doing too much when really good artists only need a slight line or a slight change of shade to make all the difference. It's hard to notice when you're in the process of drawing and too close to the drawing to see it's effect and much easier to see when it's all finished and you can stand back and notice the important details.

You are the best pencil artist and teacher anyone could find. I was going to watch today and not sketch but I had my sketchbook beside me and when my eye saw your first lines, I had to at least do those. Next thing I knew I had another sketched face. I have quite a collection of them now. Other people I try to learn from have a more juvenile and less realistic approach. I like your art and I know I’m learning from the best. Thank you for your teaching!!

I love your Art. It's incredible. The biggest mistake I made when it came to art was listening to evryon around me. I wish I had ignored everyone, including family, that told me I wasn't good enough or you can't make a living doing this, etc... Watching you, and others, make me want to draw again. You show me that it doesn't matter if I made a living with it, as long as it made me happy. Sincerely, Thank You.

@@silviemahdal3570 yes ma'am it is. When I was a kid growing up, drawing or painting was the escape. It was one of the very few things that I had control over and it had no judgements. Like, for example, if I drew a tree, it's not going to criticize or get upset with me on how I presented it. It made me feel better about it. Or if I had a bad day in school and I drew something but didn't like how it looked, I could go back in to change it's appearance and feel good with how it turned out. So yes creativity is therapy and it's CHEAPER! 🎨🖌️👩‍🎨🖼️

Currently I’m enjoying digital medium (apple ipad pro + apple pencil 2) but all this info still applies as I wish to use the skills later in traditional mediums. I hardly ever use undo but prefer to use the eraser. For me my way feels fun without moving too far away from traditional. 💖 the info about pressure and the stages are so valuable. When I started doing this in my art the difference was amazing. 💖 i learn more from traditional artists than digital ones 💖
