    Diplomacy is a tricky beast sometimes, this video covers everything I usually do to secure deals with the AI. Although some look small over a long campaign massively adds up. I truly think diplomacy is such a potent tool to make campaigns successful so wanted to encapsulate some of it in this video! If you'd like a further deep dive into it comment on this thread! Thanks for watching!

    I have to say it: I don't know if you have already find it but you can actually trade minor settlement a infinite time right? And actually if you trade the 2 same again and again and again ect ect you gain (10 I think) friendly relationship for each time.... so when sometimes when you are in the perfect set up (not too hard for most faction) you can gain a infinite bonus with the other faction. It's clearly a big cheese but with this you can most of the time instantly confederate; vassalize; military alliance ect... aversion "-100"? no problem XD

    The biggest diplomacy feature/bug I've noticed that wasn't mentioned in this video is that the "join war against" bypasses alliances. Let's say you're bretonnia and you wan't that sweet empire land, but they're allied with the high elves and the dwarfs, and you don't want additional fronts. Just talk to a goblin tribe or whatever else you can find that's at war with the empire, join their war against the empire and keep your relations with the dwarves and elves as they won't even be called in to fight.

    After seeing it done this well, there’s no going back. Terra Invicta doesn’t have these quality of life, you have to guess and guess with different numbers. There’s no going back, Warhammer 3 has set a new diplomacy standard all its cousin games need to reach from here on out.

    A tiny bit of addendum to all this. Fights against 'Rogue Pirates' (Pirate factions and random sea events) now count as a 1 bonus with I think everybody. I admit its not easy, for some factions impossible, to make much use of this, but with some races you can get +10-20 bonus relations fairly easily doing this with essentially the whole wide world. And you also get some fat loot and temporary faction/army buffs out of the deal, too.

    A small gift is a diffrent ammount depening on how much cash you have, so you can select a deal than make it even with money, than unselect the deal so you can give a gift with less money.

    I think it is actually based on your income not your money. It always is small at the beginning of the campaign due to low income but once you have high income it is high even if your treasury is empty. Good tip you shared.

  • @j.jbinks9669

    @j.jbinks9669

    Actually I believe it's based on the income of the faction you are giving money to. Ever notice that the gifts increase in value every time you offer them, despite your treasury going down and your income staying the same? A poor faction will happily accept a small gift of 800 gold for instance whereas endgame WH2 Malekith would take 10k as a small gift.

    The BIG things you forgot to mention was how campaign difficulty effects diplomacy dramatically. Short version. 1) Ally's lose ALL there cheats as soon as you form any kind of alliance with them, Good if you want to Confed them, Bad in every other scenario. Caveat, legendary lords are less effected. 2) factions that are at war with the player get ENORMOUS bonuses, and those bonuses double if the enemy is under the fog of war. So even if they are so far away they are a non threat, They will get enough buffs to steam role everyone around them and by the time they get to you, Good f*cking luck. these two issues combined make alliances are REALY bad idea, as they pull you into a bunch of wars, while also being a significantly weaker ally for said wars, usually just a gold farm for the Enemy AI.

  • @xvim7106
    @xvim7106 Жыл бұрын

    If you want your military ally to hold their own (instead of being an eventual confederation), it can be useful to not balance a deal. I think it counts the extra as "gifts given" and the AI having extra cash can help them quite a bit in survival and expansion. There are common thoughts that being allied with the player weakens the AI, but it's usually that the player actively drains as much cash as possible from their ally and that stunts their growth. This can be helpful in lowering their Strength Rating if you are trying to confederate them, so it's a conditional point.

  • @CopperIron

    @CopperIron

    It's worth keeping in mind that AI at war with the player get a few buffs; so an allied Orc faction will be naturally weaker than an Orc faction at war with the player, all other elements being equal.

    I know there is a bonus for unrevealed AI, but I wasn't aware of an 'at war' buff. The main point of that mention was that a NAP ally and a defensive or military ally will be equal if you don't drain them.

  • @Shane2020xxx
    @Shane2020xxx Жыл бұрын

    Observation: I’ve noticed that an emergent effect at the macro diplomacy is that situations tend to settle into a comfortable groove and stay there, especially with alliances. The numbers start reinforcing each other and members just get comfortable with each other being there. I once had Greasus the ogre make peace with me as my most powerful Legendary Lord’s army threatened to smoosh him in Nurgle’s Realm. Instead of just smooshing him outright, on a whim I took the deal. It turned into a non-aggression pact, defensive alliance, and then alliance. And the other members of my Alliance, none of them ogre lovers themselves, just got used them being part of the team. Everyone was getting so many Enemy of my Enemy positive bonuses that they just grudgingly accepted each other for the rest of the game as we all suited our mutual Chaos foes for fun and profit. We even had one pet faction of Lizardmen on the team.

    Careful with 'join war against' as the insane anti-player bias will often lead to some guy across the entire world map marching on you with a full stack or two. Not likely to see it anytime soon but maybe 20 turns later when you least expect it.

    If I remember well, giving a settlement a military building, even the universal 'tier one infantry', MASSIVELY skyrockets its value for diplomacy for some reason. Hence, before trading a settlement, always take one turn to build that to increase your benefits.

    I have found a lot of success with selling shitty settlements which I don't really want. For example, a settlement in a province where all other settlements are controlled by a faction I don't want to fight. I just sell it to them and get a huge amount of money, plus don't have to spend money on upgrading the settlement, plus now they love me. Last campaign I was playing as cult of sigmar and the dwarf faction in the beggining to the east decided to randomly declare war on me, so I just went to their first settlement, captured and looted it, and then sold it to them in exhange for money and peace. Was pretty fun to do.

    It’s worth noting that confederations can become more difficult the more wars you are in. So if you’re planning on confederating just be careful not to overdo the whole “join war against” thing

  • @Mitril47
    @Mitril47 Жыл бұрын

    Another point to make - if you trade settlements for cash or treaties, the AI still sees it as "gifts given" after the trade. Even if you exchange settllements of equal value, that will still provide a "gifts given" diplomacy bonus. Very useful in confederating marienburg early as franz (as per your recent video), when you trade eilhart for an alliance and then trade a mountain fort for eilhart and cash afterwards.

    Don't know if this one did come up: If you go for a confederation and you're both rich and have a strong Military power, go over to the Missions Section and lend one of their Armies. The Biggiest one if you can. This will make the Confederation sooo much easier. I've confederated Gor Rok this way, besauce in my Sotek Campaign he got half of Lustria.

    Sometimes, diplomacy is just plain weird. For example, during my Thorek ironbrow (Dwarf) campaign, i manage to send a Runepriest agent to Grombrindal (far north-west of the map) et encountered Vaika of the Warriors of Chaos, to whom my reliability rating automatically plumeted to exceedingly bad - so bad, i had a positive +15 chance of conducting successful trade agreement with her. Meanwhile, Grombrindal refused confederation... despite having excellent ratings wiht him. Weird shit like that.

    Not sure if its a bug or not, but if you join war on a faction that is in the same moral scale as them you will receive penalties for fighting that faction even though the 2 are at war(As tomb kings I joined lizardmen in a war vs dwarves and my rating with lizardmen started to drop due to the fact that I was in a war with that faction of dwarves, even though the 2 were still at war)

    So I want to have/buy a settlement of Hexoatl. And when I offer to join their war, to get a better valuation. I actually get a lower baseline evaluation compared to just giving them money. Also, there is somehow a limit to how much economic value you can offer. Because the economic evaluation for 200k is the same as 400k. SO yeah, diplomacy still sketchy sometimes

    Something I’ve always wondered is if you give them a Gift, does that actually give that faction that money to spend, or is it purely for diplomacy? In a few campaigns, there have been allies who were losing a war against a stronger enemy. I would give my ally money so that they can raise more troops and hopefully prolong their lifespan before they lose the war and then that enemy is on my doorstep. Just wondering if all of that money I give them is going to good use, or if I’ve just been throwing my money away. I only do this when I’m not earning enough income to raise a new army of my own

    I'd assume it does. Balancing deals and taking money from your allies actively takes funds from them. Not asking for money when you have leftover positive diplomacy points from a deal can help you build stronger allies!
