I have been building airplane models for many years and the best, beyond compare, is Airfix 1/24 typhoon. Incredible kit!! Nothing compares!!

Great and I just wonder how that Apache wil come out. I have it, the mold is awesome, but the decals are useless from what I´ve seen.

Kudos for mentionning the HB TBF, which really is the best in the scale. The only thing AM did better are the tailplane hinges, but you can transplant those parts. The HB is much more accurate in the TBF cowl shape (and even more so in prop hub and prop blade shape!), but is especially better in the canopy top width cross section: Having measured the real thing, it is a huge difference.

I'm just returning after a multi-year hiatus and I happen to have an Eduard Spit 9 in the stash. Perfect ! Maybe first I'll put the landing lights on a Raiden I left unfinished 5 years ago...... seriously that was all that was left to do.

Hi Bobby, great reviews and agree re the Spitfire, lovely kit. I loved the Avenger and can I please ask if the figures came with the kit, as they looked very good. Thank Jase

It is undoubtedly an error... The Merlin P-51 has that seam, not the Spit... He is right that it is a sublime kit. The reason for the seam is to replicate an undercut above the Spit IX exhausts. This kit is 10 years old, but is really a revolution in quality for 1/48: It is still state of the art 10 years later. It is much more accurate in the cowling shapes than the big step behind the spinner that the Tamiya 1:32 Spit IX has... In fact, I consider the Eduard 1/48 Mk IX the most significant jump in WWII aircraft kits in all 1/48 scale, just on the basis of the quality jump combined with the scheme versatility. Zvezda's Me-109F came close 2 years earlier, but is not quite as good. Even Eduard have only matched it with other Spit Marks, but not new types, although their Wildcat is apparently great.
