    The 2020 Bridgestone BX/S balls are amazing. You mentioned the distance, but the green side spin, control, and feel is second to none. I’d use them if I knew my swing was in good shape that day. If not, I’m all for Srixon Z Stars, especially since you can grab them for $25 a dozen when a rep stops by the course.

    Based on the video I ordered some Snell golf balls. I am usually the shortest hitter but I do hit the Fairway and I noticed today when I played I was keeping up with the other golfers in my group. I did not have any issues with dispersion and off the putter the ball felt great. Thanks for the video. It should be noted I am a 14 handicap.

    First of all Steve , really great channel , I do love that everything you do , you apply to creating more distance - let’s face it, we all want a bit of that 😄. Your instruction makes total sense. It is always interesting that to achieve a certain result , we usually need to do the opposite - to create more lag , you need to feel that you release the lag as quickly as you can . I really appreciate how you seem to answer most questions. You are doing a great job , Thank you . I am interested if you have tried the Honma Twg1 (x) . I use this or the Bridgestone bx s . I am a 6 handicap with a swing speed around 110 mph - but going on a winter quest in massively increasing this. Any reports on the Honma? I love it , but want to fit the correct the correct ball with the correct speed. I will definitely try the Snell mtb x ( you suggest this one and not the black ) Thank you

Great product!!! Based on affordability and budget, Snell is the go to!!! In regards to the 'X' models, I understand that they are firmer, but not to my liking personally. Right now I’m gaming the ZStar XV, and I like it pretty well. Seem to hit it far, fairly straight and I’m holding greens. My swing speed is good, around 103-107 with the Driver, but not tour fast. Not sure which I like best, the Titliest is good but not really any better than the Srixon or Bridgestone so it just seems over priced. I’m thinking of trying the Snell MTB-X next.

If you are having a bad golf day and don't want to lose expensive golf balls, for a super bargain, really good ball, try the Top Flite Hammer Control. Usually two 15 packs for $25.99 or so. Hi Steve, I never considered the difference in distance in golf balls. I have been using Slazenger Raw Distance golf balls for years now. I like the way they come off the club. Lately, my friend that works at the golf course has been giving me Slazenger golf balls, different ones. Apparently, these are balls found and reused on the range there at the course. What I have been struggling with is lack of distance and inconsistent distance. I attributed it to conditions and maybe my swing. I am a good golfer and this has affected my scoring quite a bit. I'll try your suggestion and get some Bridgestone BX or the Snell MTB-X. Thx

    I play primarily with Srixon Z-star balls. I find the performance to be very similar to the Pro V1. I've heard that the Z-star XV is similar to the Pro V1x, but I haven't played either of those balls so I cannot attest to that. The Srixon Z-star also comes in at a significantly lower price ($8-10 cheaper per dozen compared to the PV1/V1x). Dick's/Golf Galaxy sometimes have them on sale, buy 2 get one free, so 3 dozen for $80, which is a great deal if you can catch it.

    I have been using Srixon Z Series Xv from 2019. They are higher compression than all but the Snell and are, therefore, long. Hitting one less club into the green can make up for slightly more dispersion. A shorter club has less dispersion which may compensate. I don' think the current XVs are as high compression as the 2019s. I may try the Bridgestone or Snell when I run out of these. I don't tend to lose many balls so it will take a while.

You can probably tailor a ball more to your game, but only if you MUST break par and price is no option. (Edit: if price is NO CONCERN... To be clear: it's a ball for the sneaky scratch scorer who just likes to show up and kick butt performing controlled shot-making.) :)

Back in the sixties there would always be a bowl full on the counter in the pro shops. I was told they were essentially 80 compression Titleists. One thing that gets overlooked is how the balls perform on the greens, which arguably has the biggest impact on your score. I've been experimenting with the major brands over the last few months and have found that the balls with the deepest dimples roll much better (further). The Snell MTB-X rolls the best closely followed by Taylormade TP5x and Titleist Pro-V1x. The Callaway Chrome Soft X TT, which has shallower dimples, rolls far shorter than the above by a fair margin. And the Bridgestone Tour BX, which has the shallowest dimples, rolls the least well out of this lot. Could this be due to how the shallower dimples react more with the grass on the greens and creates more friction? My course has slightly grainy zoysia greens BTW. As far as game ball goes, I love the value of the Snell MTB-X, but it's just too inconsistent from shot to shot and from ball to ball. My money is on the Pro-V1x for all round performance, consistency and the way it rolls true on the greens.

    I checked out the top rated ball out on the golf course playing three balls against each other over 9 holes. Not clinical and not scientific, agreed. As a relatively slower swing speed player, 85mph LE 90 mph, I did find the top rated ball longer than its highly rated competitors but by 5-7 yards at about 220 yards distance. I liked the lower flight. In the right conditions I would get more roll as the descent angle was flatter. The ball feels like it has a high energy core that my swing could only partially utilise. The ball feels good and putts nicely. The cover looked to be durable after 9 holes. At 300 plus yards this ball must be a rocket.:>}

    I have been using, and singing the praises of, the Snell MTB-X golf ball since it was introduced. I also like the Snell MTB Black (latest version) A LOT! I think that the MTB Black holds its line better in the wind and in general off the tee. The MTB Black is also a relatively high-spin ball into the green off of wedges and short irons, but just not quite up there with the MTB-X, if you have sufficient clubhead speed and the proper technique to spin the ball. One other thing about the MTB Black is that it has a slightly lower compression than the MTB-X, so it is better for golfers who prefer a somewhat softer feel (but not too soft, because it is far from a low-compression “marshmallow” of a golf ball).

    I think one key factor that wasn’t considered, or maybe it was and you didn’t touch on it, is durability. I too love Snell, but I think without question Titleist wins in durability. Most high handicaps will make the claim - “well durability doesn’t matter to me because I lose them too quickly.” And I get it, but those golfers are also the ones hitting the cart path and out of the rocks/sticks the most. So durability (how easily the cover scuffs), becomes a huge factor due to its impact on the flight of the ball. Most amateurs continue to play the ball after it scuffs, so having a ball that doesn’t scuff easily is often overlooked.

    As it turns out, a firmer golf ball is hot at all speeds, as any speed is able to properly compress the ball enough. However, at lower speed, many softer balls won't fall behind much at all. If you like softer feel and more spin, the ProV1 is just fine. At 85 mph, it appears they are within a yard or two of each other.

    @@johnparker8588 I completely understand! They are the best in consistency until proven otherwise.

    They both tested pretty poorly. The grey is especially bad.

    They may not have the distance but around the green and putting they are very responsive

    Actually, unless the golf course is using distance reduced balls, the new/newish range balls go every bit as far as the balls I buy brand new (pro v 1, Srixon Zstar tour, etc.). And I have noticed that the longer you keep golf balls the shorter they go -- fresh new balls seem to go significantly further. (I keep balls for over a year -- I'm going to stop doing that. I buy from the guys from Titleist, Callaway, Srixon, whoever it is that shows up at the range promoting their products at a discount.)

    I have played a lot of different balls over the past 45 years, most of them no longer available. The current ball I have the most luck with is the Slazenger V100 Distance. They are getting harder and harder to find, but I have always had a slow swing speed, and it has gotten slower now that I am past 60, and these balls just seem to give me the best overall result between decent distance and decent feel. They are certainly budget balls, but I really do not think I am good enough that it matters a great deal. And I have just been ordering them online since I can't find them retail, as long as I order two boxes, the balls come in at less than a buck fifty each.
