Ruger American Predator in 6.5 CM and a Savage 110 in 7mm-08. Definitely like the 3 lug bolt of the Ruger better than the Savage but the savage is nice too. I like how the bolt stays locked in safe on the savage. Ive had the bolt open on Ruger while slung and and hiking. The ruger also has a threaded barrel for a muzzle brake where the savage does not.

I have 2 ATA Turquas which are being sold by Stevens as the 334. Mine have iron fibre optic sights. I have a 243 and 6.5 Creedmoor. These two rifles shoot .75MOA or better. They are fabulous shooters. If you want a superb budget rifle get one. I have 22" barrels on mine and I think the 20" would be perfect. I'm tellin ya they are by far the best of the lot. 60 degree bolt, 3 lug stainless bolt, beautiful fully adjustable triggers and single slot magazines just like a Tikka. They are butter smooth as well. Just great rifles.. I have rifles 5 times the price that don't shoot like these ones. They also shoot superbly with different brands and grains of bullet. Shocking value.

I’ve owned the Mossberg Patriot, the Weatherby Vanguard, the Ruger gowild, the Savage model 10 and 110, and a Marlin. They where all budget priced rifles. Not one of them comes close to the CVA Cascade in quality and accuracy. The Savage accuracy was pretty damn close, with the Ruger GoWild and Vanguard closely following it. Still, the Cascade is considerably higher quality and has better accuracy than any of them. It’s made in the same factory as Bergara and uses the Bergara B14 barrel and the Bergara action and triggers. At $650, it’s practically a steal. By far and away the best budget rifle on the market.

Yes, the Cascade is a good rifle, but it isn't as inexpensive as the ones on his list. I have some of the ones on his list and more, but not a Cascade. Wanted to buy one once but they did not have the caliber I wanted at the time, so I ended up with something else. They have gone up a bit lately like all things and I think their price hike was a bit more than others because of their popularity. But they are good rifles and most likely better than most of the ones on the list if not better.

The only rifle in this lineup, out-of-the-box extremely accurate and affordable is the Thompsons. I really like the Ruger American the dollar-for-dollar to Thompson's better choice. I shot that Mossberg. It groups like a shotgun. And don't have a clue what they have the 300 Win Mag. That's way too much cartridge for the average Hunter. If you're hunting elk or moose the 300 great, but those shots are generally four to six hundred yards and you're going to want a whole lot better rifle

Are you serious? A re-barrel for a good one costs more than a new cheap rifle. Been there and done that. A cheap barrel is no better than the barrels on cheap rifles. If you have the tools and do the job yourself, you may get by with less money but to do it right you still need go no go gauges and the tools to do the job right. And if you shop around the prices on these cheaper rifles are actually better than you imply. I know that if I shop around, I can buy a new rifle for what most used ones are selling for unless you buy it from a private party that may just be selling a lemon. It is better to sell what you have to buy another rifle than to re-barrel. Example I put a custom Hart barrel on a $330 Walmart special Remington 700. The re-barrel cost me over $500 and this was over 30 years ago and it's much worse now.

But there hard to find. they along with alot of other rifle makers have went with cerakote because of It's superior weatherproofing abilities. Even over stainless. But it can be chipped if hit hard enough. So it's not without its draw backs. You can't go wrong with the vanguard weatherguard bronze. That's the model I buy in diff calibers and it's great. No zipper noise or sticky bolts like w alotvof others. The bolts fall open Solid one piece recievers w intrigul recoil lug. Burnt bronze cerakote. Stiff stocks. I had a hinged floor plate in my Winchester model 70 and I prefer a detachable magazine. Cerakote ‘only’ does not weatherproof the inside of any barrel, but Cerakote put over top of stainless-steel is the very best way to go. I have Cerakote on my pump-action shotgun and it rubs (wears) off on the action parts. ~I have some small ballons called Muzzle Mit that go over the end of a barrel to protect it from water, snow, dirt, sticks, debris, etc. going down into the barrel. A regular small balloon can be used for this same purpose when out hunting.

Here's what we found when it comes to cheap rifles: accuracy varies from rifle to rifle. I don't mean manufacturer or models, but individual rifles. You have to test them until you find a good one or if you buy a clunker send it back to the factory to make it more accurate. Some manufacturers will fix them but some will send it back claiming it shoots "within specs" when they tested it. If accuracy still sucks, sell or trade in the rifle. That is just the reality of cheap rifles. We have had good luck with CZ, Tikka, and Howa. They cost more but have better quality control, design, and accuracy. You get what you pay for.

If you reload and are good you can make most any rifle shoot sub-MOA. Fact is factory ammunition is usually crap unless you purchase premium. Accuracy does varie rifle to rifle is true. Two rifles made identical most likely will not shoot the same ammo the same. It's possible but not likely. Even and expensive rifle varies. Fit and finish are the biggest differences in expensive rifles. Sometimes you just pay for the name.

Well if you live in Australia like I do and you own a .30 calibre rifle like I do I wouldn’t recommend buying any rifle that uses large rifle primers because I used to reload my .308 ammunition 3 years ago but since Covid and the Ukraine war started we haven’t been able to buy reloading supplies such as large rifle primers at all. Factory .308 ammunition is $65.00 a box of 20 rounds-who the hell can afford that ? So all I shoot now is .22 LR as it’s cheap and plentiful ammunition, shotgun ammunition is still available at same prices but everything else is ridiculously expensive and reloading is not an option, there’s plenty of brass, gun powder, projectiles but no primers at all. It’s been over 3 years since primers were on the shelves and I’m told another 2 years before they will be back on shelves !

I feel your pain. I bought in bulk and don't shoot much except hunting and developing the loads to hunt with. At the place I purchase my reloading supplies they have not listed large rifle primers since the Covid outbreak. However, they do have a notification list to be notified when something comes in. They take care of the people on that list before it is listed, they have it in stock. If you have a place you purchase your supplies from perhaps, they have a similar list. Just suggesting. Usually on a list like that you are notified once by email and if you're fast enough to reply with an order you get it. If not, you missed. I had a time getting brass for one of my PRC's and some powder as well. But eventually I did get what I needed. I have seen a lot of super bulk buys online but some of them are scams.

It is the most budget friendly of all the rifles for all the features it comes with. And surprising as it may be to you, they do shoot well with the right ammo. I have a 7mm PRC that shoots as well as any. I was a bit skeptical but after seeing good results on other people using them on KZread, I got one to hunt with. I am not a fan of skinny barrels but mine shoots tight groups with the right ammo. I do reload and that helps. Good factory ammo is hard to find and it's way too expensive. Mine did not care for the Hornady ammo but I am loading my own that has shot real well using a load it likes much better. I do believe Hornady has changed the powder in their factory loads because of the cost. Reloader 16 is very expensive and most likely is what they used to get the velocity they have written on the box. It's over $50 a pound while other powders are in the $35-$45-dollar range. Reloader 16 is a high demand powder for high velocity.

People in these comments haven't shot a Tikka or a Bergara. You guys that Load you own, pack hunt and shoot the range know EXACLY what I mean. We don't own a lot of rifles because our buddies let us test their guns out. Also stop hunting with a 6.5 anything if you plan on bagging an animal over 300 yards. Hunting is NOT bench shooting! Grab a .300 in a magnum of some sort. Here is what you hunt with - 300 WSM, Winmag, Weatherby, H&H, Norma etc. Stay away from Ultra type mags (300 RUM, Lapua, 30-378 Weatherby etc.) unless you eat bloodshot! All 30 cal Magnums Shoot 1000 Yards and are capable of taking an animal at any yardage up to that mark. You longtime experienced hunters know what i mean. Some of us live/hunt in the 100 yard areas of the country and some of us live/hunt in the 1000 yard country. Some of us are lucky enough to live in the Northwest and get to hunt Coast Range or go east and Hunt open country. Join a Range Club get to know some folks. Then buy a hunting rifle. Last thing 6.5 guys.... 3 wheelers aren't cool either! They are nostalgic and have a cult like your 6.5. Either get a quad or get a motorcycle. Anything you do with a 6.5 can be better done with a .30 LMFAO!

The Backfire KZread channel absolutely despises the Mossberg rifle. He got to review and it shot like crap. It wasn't even close to MOA, so he sent it back to Mossberg, and they agreed. They said it wasn't in spec, and they sent either a repaired one or a new one. It also shot like crap. He later got another Mossberg rifle in a different caliber, and it too shot like crap, and now I get the impression he's done with Mossberg rifles. I trust the guy, so I'll pass as well. However, I do like their pump action shotguns. They're great.

The savage stevens 334 - a friend of mine has one and swears by it. The Ruger American- all RA rifles are not created equal. I’ve seen some that shot amazing and some that didn’t. Savage has improved over the last few years. Still- the stock is terrible! They are inherently accurate though. TC Venture 1st generation, are one of the Best Buy’s I’ve ever made in a bolt action rifle. Great stock, decent trigger, smooth action. Very Accurate! At a Great price! Consistent 3/8” 100 yard groups with .308 hand loads. 1/2” groups with the 7mm-08. Avoid the TC Compass! Or The TC Venture II !!! Terrible- downgrade. Browning x-bolt or original A-bolt (not the ab 2 or ab3) Just Say No to Mossberg ATR or Patriot. No. No.. my fav though is Tikka. They are not really a budget rifle- sadly.

Weatherby, Ruger, and Savage would be the better bet. Don't waste your money on the Browning or Cva. Those guns are unreliable and not worth the money. Now I don't know about Thompson rifle, so I can't say if they're good or junk. As for the Mossberg, I've owned 2 of their shotguns, and they've been awesome. However, I've heard mix reviews on their rifles , so it's up to the purchaser on whether to buy one or forget it. I know my friend bought one in 308, and he seems to like it. Now, the Browning AB3, I say, avoid those guns that are overpriced for what you pay. With the Ruger and Mossberg and the Savage you get a metal trigger. However, with Browning, you get a plastic trigger also you pay more for a Browning than you do with the other brands. I bought a Browning AB3 2 years ago, took it out to the range, and it didn't even make through a box of ammo before it broke, so I sent it back. It took almost half a year to get it back, and that was considered fast for them. So if I wanted to go deer hunting with that rifle, good luck that wasn't happening. So, for me, I'd avoid a cheap browning rifle. Go with an X bolt. Instead, it's more expensive but better quality.

The ruger precision is a lot more money but its not more accurate than my Ruger American 6.5 Creedmoor in fact my ruger American shot at a 100 yard target a one hole 3 shot group from a bench rest using bags at a range in Memphis Tennessee all the 3 shots in the exact same hole and not a ragged hole and exactly 1/2 inch right of the target bullseye my son could not believe it even though he was standing beside me. My son Jason bought the Ruger precision model in 6.5 Creedmoor he is a Doctor so he has the money advantage of getting whatever rifle he wants. It's not as accurate as my American model. Now i am not saying that ever Ruger American can do that. Winchester back in the day when testing there rifles from a production run of hundreds made, one would be so much more accurate than all the rest they called it a 1 of 1000 maybe mine is like that i don't know but what I do know in my 75 years of on this planet I have never had a rifle close to it. I have been reloading over 50 years and hunting small and large game target shooting 22's to 30.06's and have never seen or had a rifle that could do that. My 1973 Ruger ln 270 had at that time I bought it came with a Douglas barrel Ruger did not produce there barrels until later. It will consistently shoot under 1 inch 5 shot group at a 100 yard target from the bench. the second most accurate rifle i have ever shot owned!! Just my 2 bits worth on the subject.
