@@ashwushere I can’t speak for the Hebron kid, but for me, having been a now three-time soloist for my band program, when you mess up you don’t have time to feel sorry for yourself during a rep because that only causes more mistakes. That doesn’t come until later when you watch a video of it.

Yeah their state finals runs was kinda sloppy....

Bentonville, AR.... Man, i love the look of that band, and that lovely dark sound. I would have placed them in the high teens. But who am I?? Lol. A treasure trove of gifted programs in this compilation. Thanks for posting!!

I can't recall the last final Hornrank Top 32 that didn't include CTJ AND FloMo in the top 10. Props to all these kids and those not on the list for going out and leaving it all on the field.

The #1 spot is a Texas band, so are 17 other spots within the 32. Meaning a total of 18 out of 32 are Texas bands. Everything is bigger here in Texas, including our bands!

William Mason has the most beautiful uniforms and color scheme I have ever seen and the band is pretty good too.

It was very inspired by Edge of Eternity. Same designers. Same with Brownsburg this year with BA. The aesthetics were uncomfortably similar and I think that ultimately hurt BA overall. Again same designers.

Carmel isn't my personal favorite this year but I applaud them for this thing they have of being so different from everyone else. Everyone else's shows are always so similar with similar elements musically, but Carmel's music is always one of another kind. Broken Arrow is also like that but in a different way. Their shows feel more like movies on a field if that makes sense. Carmel's shows just feel like Carmel and that's something I've always loved about this band.

@@muukas3453 Brownsburg was the other finalist, I can't remember the other bands name though. I just remember in either semis or finals Brownsburg went on right before Carmel & I was like well that's kind of underwhelming cuz it was the same music lol & also remembered another band playing a 3rd rendition of it too

So true about BA. Their productions are more than just marching band.

Alternate title - Best rich high school marching bands. These bands are very good though. I would like to see videos like this for smaller bands.

I would like to be apart of some of the top high school marching bands in the nation but as the program I’m apart of (being Bentonville) continues to grow and my years marching there coming to an end I’m proud to say I’m apart of the Bentonville Pride marching band as I was there for the 2020 season and I’m proud to have been apart of history for our program and I can’t wait to see what the future has in hold for us

Same the band I’m in now doesn’t suck but a lot of the people couldn’t care less and we don’t have the funding other than the school board giving us the rest of the money we need to go to Indianapolis

Yes I loved American fork I am sad they didn’t make it into finals because of a judge that didn’t like them because of politics . I liked them all but I thought American Fork stood out there Music was just really powerful and hard:)

My band is smaller than most of these bands and didn't do that well this year but nonetheless we still went against some of these people and almost made finals with them.

Spoiler Alert...25 of them are probably Texas bands..LOL. Unfortunately the field is so crowed with good bands in Texas that many of them dont get the notoriety because they dont place in the top 5-6 in Texas competitions. Interesting that Hebron won state in Wind ensemble as well recently. Hebron and Vandergrift seems to be the two bands in Texas to beat these days in both marching and symphonic competitions

I mean, James F. Byrnes placing 14th at nationals should at least be an honorable mention but I get it. Too many great TX bands. And since Wando is generally one of the top bands, plus the name and horn rank points…yeah, I get it.

@@notizu6969 I agree 100%. Wando always sounds like a concert band - they are excellent musically. But everyone in those stands not wearing a Wando shirt knew JFB was better visually at the very least. There definitely shouldn’t have been a 2+ point difference.

You should post a similar video giving some love to smaller bands! I like seeing these, but not everyone's from a school like carmel with 8 billion people lol. Awesome content tho!

castle being 30 doesnt feel right… their show was amazing that year

Placements were decided mostly by voting of the staff on hornrank( as evident in 2019 with Ronald Reagan staying on top) with consideration of BOA scores and very little consideration from state and local competitions according to hornrank and its moderators

@@jwilk1281 I was telling the truth, the moderators have said this before. Many moderators do have backgrounds in Texas, but it doesn't make my statement any less true. I just wanted people to know that the rankings weren't based solely on score or placements.

I saw Carmela show yesterday at state and I love their guards costumes!! I was getting state milk and I couldn’t hear Avon’s show when they were performing but I could hear Carmel and I could feel the timpani!Avon won all though I personally loved Carmel’s show! Also Castel got a three point penalty at semi-state and they went from 5th to 11th they were only a few tenths of a point off and due to that they couldn’t got to nationals :(

I live 30 minutes away from Carmel, HS. I want to transfer to there, but I don't. My marching band is the Anderson Marching Highlanders, and we are one of the most unique, and rare for high school marching band in the country, and we have unique cool traditions that you never see ever. The pride of being apart of history, and being a marching highlander is amazing, but being in Carmel where you have a huge marching band also sounds super cool.

Imagine if UIL Texas ever allowed an “audition only” competitive marching band for Lewisville ISD, Leander ISD and NEISD💥 ! The talent and staff in these concentrated areas would be unfair to ALL BOA competing programs and anything marching in the United States. I can’t even Phantom ,….. ❤ Indiana Homers please free to ignore this post. 👀

I agree

No doubt that these are all simply outstanding bands. That said, a lot of excellent groups follow a SEC/Big 10 model or a military style. These are not lesser bands because they choose a different style. For instance, Oak Mountain HS in Alabama is not a group most of these bands would want to follow on a concert stage, but does a much more SEC model marching program.

Do the top 10 bands from Michigan for 2021 2022 and 2023

I wish marching band could be more about musicality, sound quality, and good fundamental musicianship, and not about props, costumes, narration, amplification, sets/stages, etc etc etc etc...

I have a question and i know this is an old video but where are the Alter Marching Knights? weren't they like the Grand National Class A Champions in 2022?

So many commenters including myself don’t agree totally with this lineup but let’s remember this list is only a subjective Hornrank list. Just breathe. 😀 Many of these programs are only on this because most of the hornrank voters are old MFA (ISSMA and BOA) homers and so these programs are probably the top 32 Visual and designed consensus for 2022! BOA adjudicates heavy on designer and visual. Music innovation, music valve demand and execution often not rewarded. Compare Hebron’s music book vs Carmels in-terms on brass valve demand and execution. Carmel kills it because Gaines(visual designer) is da man! My Top 32 would look much different with Indiana bands ranked lower and anything not Indiana much higher.

I performed with moe and gene Johnson and we placed 15th at grand nats☹️☹️😢

The Marcus one stings a bit but our show did not perform well so fair enough.

In the spirit of this obvious Troll thread let’s hypothetically send Gaines to Lewisville ISD (Hebron, Flower Mound and Marcus). Carmel becomes irrelevant very quickly. BTW I’d like to see Carmel attempt the music books that Hebron has fielded these last few years. 😂. That brass would be tripped up at the first high brass feature with double and triple tonging!

i understand carmel has had some amazing decades, and yes they are without question a top five band in america and one of my personal favorites but texas is just too freaking good to say they are worse than carmel

Texas Elites don’t get a chance to go head to head against Carmel yearly. It’s just too long of a driver for Texas. Plus UIL State makes it difficult to visit LOS on a consistent basis. TBH Nats has never truly been a National championship and San Antonio SR has been far more deeper in field depth(except for maybe 2019 Nats) Should we have had every Texas band, + BA and Tarpon competed against Carmel year to year things would certainly change in terms of Eagles that actually stay in Indiana. Carmel does have an amazing story but they stopped being a Top 5 pick since the 2010’s I usually place them in the 6-10 range. Top 3 in 2018 possibly but only because Gaines is a visual genius!

That blue springs show was atrocious

The hornrank is more of a DCI ranking than a marching band ranking. They’re more concerned with the brass winds. In a true marching band ranking Carmel would be #1. Our local band(not Carmel or Indy band) would be higher than 31 since it scored top 10 in BOA prelims and 12th in BOA finals. AND should Tarpon Springs be included? They refuse to call themselves a marching band. They’re an “outdoor performing arts band”.

Not impressed with any of them.
