I don't have many high IV shadows. I'll never forgive myself for accidentally purifying my hundo Scizor. I have a 93% Weaville, 87% Shiftry, 84% Magnezone, 82% Larvitar & 80% Ralts. Can't wait to see the PvP shadow video bc those IV spreads I've actually scored on like a Rank 3 UL Mudkip.

I've been waiting for this video. Your content is super useful and practical. It's great that you indicate which Pokemon are better to use for dual PVP/Raid Attackers. I'm always interested in ways to optimize in the game since there are so many ways to unintentionally splurge to no real benefit.

I've been working on powering up my 100% shadow murkrow. I'm so glad that it hasn't been for nothing since it's a great flying type attacker

Better dark type

I really love using shadow Magnezone because of the steel typing, it gives you a lot more survivability than the other electric types and it is a lot more accessible to get the shadow pokemon and the candy.

Glad that you made an update and talked more in depth about shadows in the beginning. Shadow PKMN are extremely expensive and not easily obtained for casual/part time players. For daily active players they're so worth the high amount of stardust that you pay to get them powered up. I hate the wait for a Rocket TM event but whenever that comes around and I remove it these shadow pkmn destroy raid pkmn and gym defenders with very little effort. One example is shadow Machamp at level 40 near perfect IVs or 90%+ IV absolutely destroys gym defenders like Chansey/Blissey, Snorlax, Slaking, etc... Gym defenders get so frustrated when I destroy their gyms they have no choice but to change their pkmn's moves to fairy type (dazzling gleam, etc.) to counter fighting type PKMN. Shadow PKMN are so worth the expensive, high price you have to pay as they make gameplay look like mere child's play. LOL

I don't remember battling the boss after the Troubling Situation quest (I probably did it back in 2016), was that implemented later? I haven't got the Looming in the Shadows quest yet either and I'm lvl 37, how do I get the next activated? Currently stuck on Meltan and Thousand Year.

Was watching your video to get advices for my next shadow power ups, got to the Ho-oh part, where you tlaked about hidden power. Wondered what mine was gonna be, so I hopped in pokemon go and got my TMs on my shadow Ho-oh. After a few, flying hidden power showed up. Was there an update or am I extra lucky ?

Well, so far this year I got a few good Dratinis, Bulbasaurs, Bagons and Larvitars I'm going to power up, but my REAL flex will still be my 96%, 15-15-13 shadow Ho-oh with hidden power flying :D

How do you get these quests though? Looks like you've had to be actively playing as of last year sometime to get these. Someone starting In January/Feb this year will not be able to do this grind.

I haven't gotten any quests for the super rocket radars how do I get those started?

Hi! Thanks so much for your amazing content. One question is how often does the SAME shadow Pokémon rotate? For example currently we have shadow Torchic being active, then after a new Rocket Takeover, the Torchic is gone. How long usually does shadow Torchic come up again?

@@LuckyBunz For sure! It's been one of the biggest questions I asked myself since I started playing again 2 months ago for the first time since 2016. I didn't know all the Cday and Legacy moves and I'm sure I wasted a few good pokemon or Top TMs that way

My best Shadow Salamence is 14, 8, 15 its a non shiny. I also have two shiny shadow Salamence's one has 12, 4, 10 the other has 8, 6, 14 I know that most would say do the one with the higher attack however the one with the 8 attack, has better stats overall as it is a higher percentage since it still maxes out at a slightly higher CP. Which shiny shadow Salamence would you recommend that I power up between those two?

This is amazing (not actually) because before I knew about the benefits of shadow pokemon, I just purified everything, especially for the purifier medal, so I have a purified larvitar and beldum......

Just rewatching your video made check my shadow Ho-oh. Checked his hidden power with an elite tm and it was flying. (I didn’t use the elite just checked it) can’t post the pic here

i have a 9/15/7 shadow ho-oh with hiddenpower flying :) but not enough resources yet... lvl 43 tho , maybe i should prioritise it more?

my shadow ho-oh has flying type hidden power with 13/10/6 ivs, idk if I'll ever use it but its cool knowing that I got "lucky"

Shadows are great if you want to speed up grunt battles aswell, here is my list of shadows with their moveset that you should get at least one of ; Shadow Tyranitar - Bite + Crunch Shadow Tyranitar - Smack Down + Stone Edge & Crunch Shadow Venusaur - Razor Leaf + Frenzy Plant Shadow Feraligatr - Waterfall + Hydro Cannon Shadow Charizard - Fire Spin + Blast Burn // Shadow Typhlosion - Incinerate + Blast burn Shadow Gardevoir - Charm + Dazzling Gleam Shadow Salamence - Dragon Tail + Outrage Shadow Machamp - Counter + Cross Chop/Dyanmic Punch/Close Combat Shadow Metagross - Bullet Punch + Meteor Mash Shadow Mewtwo - Counfusion + Psystrike The key is to get a move that does so much damage like Razor Leaf or Smack Down to farm down the first and second Pokemon before they get to their charge move so you don't have to waste time waiting for their move to be used or even de-buff you (like that annoying Poliwag's Bubble Beam did not make my Frenzy Plant one-hit KO Politoad with a debuff on attack.) And then end the third Pokemon with a move that will most likely one-hit KO. This is the fastest way to get down the grunts. Against leader you should use PuP Lucario with Shadow Ball to bait out shields and have coverage with a move like Shadow Ball to do neutral damage to everything or super effective that PuP can't hit for super effective. Shadow Swampert would be a better choice due to Mud Shot charging up energy faster than Waterfall to get out the shields. One of these Pokemon above, if they got a Mega with a hard hitting fast move like Waterfall, Razor Leaf, Smack Down you can use it to replace the shadow one to use less revies, potions and stand in for a longer time. But you can only have one so make a choice what grunt you want to face. My choice would always be Mega Charizard Y due to it's bigger gap to Shadow compared to the other ones possible. But if you only want to battle for Shadow Larvitar or Shadow Cyndaquill just do Mega Gyarados. If you want to only chase Flying Pokemon for cheap purifies, do Mega Tyranitar (it's not out when writing this)

i got a shadow shiny charizard during the recent team rocket event and i am in love with it, its ivs are 8 4 6 which i think is 40ish percent but i dont care im using the shit outta this guy i love him sm

I am so lost on how to stack super rocket radars i rlly want to in order to obv get multiple shadow legendaries that are meta relevant but i cant seem to get more than one i dont get the system

How is the on the thumbnail a mewtwo with a less then half power up scale but it has 4100 cp isn’t that like the max level?

I have 2 71% shadow Larvitar and thinking of powering one up as a dark type raid attacker. Which stat spread would you pick and why? 13/14/5 or 12/12/8? In general is higher attack or higher defense/HP better for shadows?

Raid attackers always want a high individual attacking value.

I have a 91 shadow mewtwo. I plan on bringing that one up to level 50 and have psystrike and shadow ball

Do these shadow need good ivs or would 0, 0, 0 iv line still be ok?

For shadow Pokemon, I'm assuming for raids you want 15/15/15, but is it most optimal for pvp to have 0/15/15?

Generally speaking, yeah. There are more precise spreads for pvp, but it varies on each individual Pokemon. I would recommend using the GO Stadium website to check for the best IVs

Might be too late to ask, but how did you stack super rocket radar? You cant obtain a new super radar if you don't complete the previous questline which in one point you have to use the old one.

Correct, so you don't complete the quest and hold that radar until the next boss becomes available. Then you use that radar and complete the old quest, unlock the next quest and either choose to hold again or complete and get the same legendary. Their are other radars that have been rewarded through timed research, but those were outliers.

Caught shiny gligar, shiny sneasel (now shiny weavile) and a pretty good iv spread for a shadow snorlax. Also caught a good shadow lugia just because I needed to finish the quest line lol.

if i already evolved my typhosion can I use charged tms during the event to get blast burn?

@@FanCtaco As much as I love Typhlosion, it's not as meta relevant as some of your other options. So I can't recommend giving it an elite charged TM. Once again, my recommendation was to build one for the Ultra League and then get dual functionality as a raid attacker.

Great video! One question: If I have not completed most shadow quests from the past because I was not playing, can I obtain them by finishing my current one? Right now I have the seven colored shadow stuck because I don't want to use a radar on lugia, but if I know I will get another one anyways, I am definetly using it. Thanks in advance!

Since you are on the Seven Colored research, you won't get a new one after, because it was the last official shadow special research. So I would continue to hold onto that radar until the next shadow legendary comes into rotation. The Lugia radar was an exception to the rule, because it was unlocked from the Misunderstood Mischief seasonal research.

I’m a lvl 32 returning player that started late. I feel like there is a backbone and fundamental understanding in Pokemon Go that I do not have. I lose to Team Rocket Grunts and I don’t have enough stardust to power up Pokemon. Also I don’t have many Pokemon that others have, mewtwo regigigas, Entei, all the legendary Pokemon basically.

I have a shadow ho-oh with hidden power flying. Only ho-oh I have with that hidden power I think. Its ivs are 14-15-10

You explained this pretty well, but I just want to make sure that I get this right , I started playing on September and I currently am on the field notes (defeat the team go rocket) and have the black super rocket radar for the first time, I’ve been putting off battling Giovanni to farm grunts faster far more shadow Pokémon from bosses , so can I save this radar for when Mewto comes in a few days ,use the radar for the first time to get shadow mewto (and ) possibly get the radar again in this same season or w/e time frame to get a 2nd shadow Mewto, please and thank you 🙏🏼 for replying

Yes, you pretty much got the idea of it. When Mewtwo becomes available on the 14th, battle Giovanni and complete the Field Notes Special Research. Once that has been completed, the next day you will get access to the new Special Research for Shadow Mewtwo and you can choose to carry that over or complete it right away and get a 2nd Shadow Mewtwo.

Shadow feraligator is actually worth because its the ONLY shadow pokemon that has both fast and charged ice type moves and water so it can be a slightly lower tier behind swampert ANND mamoswine

Yes, they are 100% catch rate. With that being said, if you run out of premier balls, you will have wasted your super rocket radar. So make sure you time your throws correctly.

I had a shadow dratini and it was just shy of 3 stars so I purified it .. didn't know it was so rare 😓 lol

There are other shadow options that will be better, so it won't be horrible if you do. At the same time, there will also be better mega evolutions for dragon typing as well.

dope vid i just realized how good shadow pokemon are now, when they first came out there used to be no point to have them so I would always purify or transfer, and I remember having some good ivs shadow that are now purified or have been transferred. Including shadow legends :(

Yeah, a lot of people still don't realize how good they actually are (and at times, cheaper and more effective)

I got a 13,15,14 shadow Feraligtr, that I caught about 3 months ago, removed frustration and gave am elite charged tm for Hydrocannon not too long after. As far as it's fast move I'm still thinking on giving it water gun, but waterfall is still good as well, as it does more damage than water gun, it just doesn't generate as much energy as water gun, so the pro with water gun is being able to charge up to fire off a Hydrocannon faster. However with shadow Feraligtr getting the buffed attack of being a shadow with having a higher damaging fast move that doesn't nessarily have the best energy gain however with a high damaging fast move with having the 20% buff of being a shadow you will likely be able to farm down/sweep your opponents first mon with just the fast move, and by the time the next mon comes out you will have enough to fire off a Hydrocannon and likely OHKO that mon. Where as if you had a lesser damage fast move with more energy in the same situation, you would already have enough to fire off a Hydrocannon before you even sweep the mon, where as I think it would be more Convenient and efficient to sweep the 1st mon with a strong fast move then one shot the next with the charged move. Alongthou it can be argued that I can charge up energy to fire off 2-3 Hydrocannons but with the debuff on defense shadows get with a lesser damage fast move, it wouldn't be realistic to even try to farm down with just a fast move that doesn't do enough damage to farm down as the opponent mon would sweep you before you could do so. But then again depends on the mon and move and likely with stab Im guess that even water gun on shadow Feraligtr would still do decent damage as well, but I also kinda like having the flexibility to Swicth between Ice Fang and bite, mainly Ice Fang for coverage

Keep it with waterfall because feraligator cab also learn ice beam making it like your second best ice type attacker

also for those that dont know, a lvl 40 shadow is better than a hundo lvl 50 so you're good with a team of shadows no XL needed

For Giovanni, you need a Super Rocket Radar. You can generally get this from the special research quests I mentioned in the video (with some exceptions)

Got the hidden power flying shadow ho-oh :) sad thing is that there's almost no scenarios where it's really useful :(

I just got a 100 IV shadow Venusaur, got rid of confusion and ended up with Vine whip and Sludge bomb, learned a second move and got Petal bliz. it's only got 1010 CP though

Literally same! I had caught a Hundo shadow Charmander back in September, evolved it into a Charizard and gave it an elite tm for blast burn, then 3 weeks later I catch a Hundo shadow Bulbasaur as well and evolved as a Venasaur at that same 1010 CP. Going to give it an elite tm for frenzy plant soon

how to stack 4 SRR? ppl are only telling me how to stack 2... idk how to stack 4 for when mewtwo comes!!!

Your type is the type the Pokémon has. The hidden power type will show you a little icon next to the fast move

I don’t power stuff up unless I got resources to get it lvl40 and don’t power up my lvl40’s until having enough resources to get lvl50

If you want to have a fun unique for raids, then yeah! If you are still lacking in other typing areas though, you don't need to power it up right away

Only legendary Pokemon have a 1 in 20 chance of being shiny in raids. You can still do a LOT more than 20 legendary raids and not get a shiny; but the odss in any single raid is 1/20. During community day, Charizard had a 1/25 shiny rate. After CD it went back to around 1/450. Your best bet to get a shiny Charizard is to trade with someone who played on the CD. You don't need to battle Mega Charizard to get a shiny. You only need to battle Mega Charizard to get Mega energy so you can mega evolve a Charizard. Once you have mega evolved a Charizard, you can also earn mega energy by walking with a Charizard as your buddy.

I went super hard during the rocket event grinding for shadow Pokémon and was waiting to TM the ones with best IVs. The only issue was I though the event ended the day after it actually did, so I woke up on "the last day" of the event and tried to charge TM all of my shadow Pokémon only to find event was over. Guess I will have to wait 4 months for the next event to roll around :/

I would not recommend maxing it out at Level 50, as that would require a tremendous amount of stardust. It's much better to utilize that stardust to gradually build a team of 4-6 attackers, starting at Level 30 each. That spread is pretty solid though, definitely a good consideration for an investment.

@@LuckyBunz i see what your saying get an army of lvl 30 strong shadows but eventually over time if they are that good I would make them to lvl 50. The shadow tyranitar that i told you was 11, 11, 15 was about cp 1550, and powered up, to around 3200 something and i already see that it is a beast. Although stardust takes time to earn, it still comes back, id definitely eventually make it a lvl 50 thats if i dont catch another shadow larvitar with better stats. I also have a 13, 13, 15 shadow weavile that im going to work on. I have a non shadow hundo weavile as well so im going to test them both to see the difference

(I purified the one with best IVs :(( but still have others) - For the one shadow Moltres I have, is it better to invest as flying over fire (and spend an elite TM?)? (I already have non-shadows L30 87% flyer with Sky Attack and a 98% with fire moves but still level 25)

Spark + Wild Charge would be the ideal moveset. For the one that you purified, what are the IVs? You might still be able to get some functionality out of it in the Master League Premier Cup for PvP. Tough decision tbh, because we don't have as many legendary bosses that are weak to flying, but it's easily one of the best investments out there when you do need to use it. There are a lot of fire type options available, so if you have extra elite charge TMs, it is probably worth going the sky attack route. If not, I would just hold off for now. You could also give it a double move (sky attack + overheat) and then alternate between fast moves for dual functionality. It's a bit more tedious, but it gives you the best of both worlds.

@@LuckyBunz Purified is currently a 15-15-13 Magneton, haven't evolved it yet; I'll look into use in MLPC. Thank you! I'll consider that double move Moltres and will keep as fire until I decide on elite.

I got a shadow dratini

I know shadows are 20% stronger on the attack side but I thought it was a 17% drop from the defense side, not 20%? Am I wrong? I heard this from Brandon Tan.

It's 20%. Then it can be more due to IVs being lower. 17% does not work, he must have said wrong.

To the best of my knowledge, it's always been 20% (referencing both GO Hub and Silph Road) It could be 17%, I just haven't seen any sources where it shows the breakdown for that. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I had a 3 star shadow tododile and I purified it not knowing the difference between shadows and non shadows. I’m very upset now 😂

Kill me, I had a good IV Shadow Mewtwo, Moltres and Dragonite and I purified them before knowing I shouldnt
