Top 3 reasons most product launches fail

Ойын-сауық

One of the saddest things I deal with as a business coach is hearing from students or clients that launched a product (an online course, membership, group coaching etc) and it failed. Perhaps nobody bought or three people bought or it made only $100. The dream has been dashed because it didn't live up to their expectations. Today, I wanna pull back the curtain on the top three reasons why most product launches fail - so that your next (or first) launch won't!

Thanks Graham! As always timely, relevant, and impactful. Happy to see that after consuming so much of your content I have instinctively built most of this into my upcoming launch. You rock brother, and as always very thankful. God bless.

Graham - great video! And great reminder to not rush to build your course or product but rush to build you audience then survey them to understand what problem to solve or transformations they desire!!!

Great video! Is there times of the year or seasons to avoid a launch or better for a launch? Holidays, summer, beginning of the year, etc?

Question: I ran a spring promotion this year and ran emails for 5 days straight (one a day), then on the last day of the promotion, I sent 4 emails (hey last day, the clock is ticking, ends in an hour, etc.). I had scarcity with the promo ending and I had new videos for other users (I teach narrators how to master they're audiobooks for ACX. Every narrator uses a different DAW, just like in music, so I have 1 new video of "how to use the course" in whatever DAW they're in). I didn't mention "features", just how it can / will work for them. My result during that promo week was about 30 people unsubscribing from my email and only sold 1. From this probably limited info, what is your guess as to what I did wrong?

Before watching the video here's my guess haha -Not researching enough -Wrong positioning -Not launching strategically

After every video from you I am thinking: Good, that i watched uncle Grahams video. Now that saved me a ton of mistakes. Graham can you make a video about coaching, where you focus more on having a lot of people in a coaching session instead of the experience and asking questions. I am thinking about make coaching calls with 100 - 200 people where I only teach and thats it. In Zoom for example. What would your thoughts be about that?

@Graham : perfect video because I launch my course this week! I followed all your tips, mindset, EVERYTHING. I am very excited now. I do have question: in your automatic income academy, you mentioned that the expected revenue is 0.5% email list. I am a little bit down with this fact, I have 290 emails subs now (I started everything in Jan 2024), the total customers in my niche is about max 20k per year, so is there a way to increase conversion rate? Can you make a video about this? I know I can't increase the conversion instantly increase but I want to know at least I am putting effort to the right direction for next 2-3 years. Anyway, I will definitely put a comment here how I did this week for the launch using your techniques!

Definitely. My main course does about 1.6% in my evergreen email funnel, so you can definitely do better than .5%. If you can get people to a webinar you'll likely convert better because of the energy and connection in real time.

Great... thanks for the video.. Re; 1st tip "close the cart." Even if you close the cart, people know that i will run another launch in about a few months... is there any effective urgency messaging for this?

  • @GrahamCochrane

Great question. As long as there is at least a 3 month gap after closing the cart I think it's effective.

hi, I'm about start my first course on Kajabi. I've made a registration page and I'm about to start recording the main structure. I'd like to host a free webinar event on KZread and create an email sequence and sale funnel. Do you have any courses, membership or coaching to help with this process?
