The scenes that made me cry the most were all the times that Makarov sacrificed himself, Aquarius and Lucy's farewell,when they all return to the guild, after 7 years, when Lucy cries for her father, when Natsu leaves with Happy and when he disappears, making Natsu cry. when Erza cries for Jeral, Gajeel and Levy's "farewell", Erza's "death", and her "funeral", among others...

Honestly I was just saying to myself that fairy tail has a lot of moments that made me cry. Makarovs sacrifice, Aquarius's sacrifice, Lucy's return after 7 years to find her father is dead, Future Lucy's death, Ultear's death, Gray/others dying during dragon eclipse ark, Gray meeting and losing his father, Gajeel confessing his love to levy as he's dying, Mavis's Curse kills Makarov's mom and she falls into a depression only to die after starting to love Zeref, Natsu's disappearance despite the book being rewritten, Erza's death after tower of heaven, Lisanna's return, Wendy finding out her original guild wasn't real, and SO many more! I cried a lot watching fairy tail, and these scenes still make me cry despite having seen the show. I LOVE Fairy Tail a lot and it will always be an important anime to me.

Same for me with Lucy reading the letter her father left for her after the time skip, swear to god that absolutely destroyed me.

These are all sad, but the #1 pick is not the saddest moment. 2 and 3 are in perfect spots for sure, but the saddest moment is Lucy destroying Aquarius’ key. The moment never ceases to make me cry. The JP voice actor put on such an incredible performance. You can feel every ounce of pain.

Aquarius is somewhere out there she said that herself, and i believe that Lucy will find it in 100year quest

I know this moment is given to makarov but I honestly can't even imagine how painful it must have been for mavis even though she has almost complete control over her emotions

I know, that is what I feel. I have seen this, and I know Makarov comes back, but I can't help but be empathetic to Mavis. Mavis named Makarov when he was born, and nobody should have to watch a child they named die. Makarov was willing to sacrifice himself for his kiddos, but to Mavis he was one of her kiddos. She was close with his parents, Makarov grew up in her guild, and was named by her.

Fairy Tail has a lot of scenes that made me cry. This anime is one of the best I've seen and I have rewatch this more than once already and still cry and laugh as if I've never watched it before.

Natsu disappearing was hardest one for me because at the time I was caught up with the anime and I remember freaking tf out crying not expecting him to just disappear and had to wait a week to find out what the hell was going on.

The saddest scenes for me was Aquarius key, Second Lucy killed by Rogue, Lissana leaving her Edolas siblings and returning to earthland. Other Fairytail members misses their comrades after being trap in Tenroujima Island.

I cried to like every sad scene, but I almost didn't cry to future Lucy dying to future Rogue. What really got the water works going in that scene was happy with his words, Lucy is Lucy and Lucy is my friend! OMG that made my heart fall out of my chest.

Just want to add the day Wendy realized that all the things around her since she was 5 were not real. That everything was just made for her to have a normal life and be happy. THAT MADE ME CRYYYYY SO MUCH 😭

Three saddest moments in Fairy Tail... now that's a tough one. Apart from those you picked, there's also Future Lucy's death, the breaking of Aquarius' key, Eclair's departure in the first movie, Future Levi's letter, Lucy finally being able to cry after the death of her father, Lucy reading Natsu's letter, Mavis "dying" in Zeref's arms, the Dragon parents disappearing, Cat Shelter disappearing... and way more. Fairy Tail is just too good at pulling at your heartstrings. I wouldn't want to single out just three of them.

Why do I abuse myself watching these over again dangit. Another one that always gets me is when Makarov sees levy after she got attacked. And he storms the dark guild hall and gets his entire magic energy stolen and gets super sick and about to die.

this an impossible changed for anyone with a heart

The last one got me, it hurt seeing natsu seeing him just be there being himself around grey, Lucy and happy talking about the future too and then just disappeared from the world like he never existed before, makarov turning into stone got me crying though because he is like a grandpa to everyone.👆🏻to fairy tail the best and first anime I ever watched

its been over 2 years since ive watched it how is it still this effective on me

Makarov sacrificed himself, that is hurt:( Among all of them, Erza is the one that hurt so much coz she respect Makarov as father. Erza is the older sister to all of the younger generation. Then Gajeel scene gone like that, i can feel the sadness😭😭😭 Then the most fearsome moment that i didn't taught, Natsu vanished like that😭😭😭😭😭 Of coz it hurts soo much😭😭😭😭 Fairytail is the best🎉🎉🎉🎉.

I actually quit/gave up on this manga when the author "killed" Gajeel. No point for me to continue. Then one day my friend told me he "comes back to life", I was so happy and resume reading the manga till the end. Gajeel is my favourite character. I remember being so hate on the author, I even leave a message saying if he must kill someone in FT, then kill Lisanna 🤣🤣🤣

Lucy destroying Aquarius key is definitely up there. although Makarov dying should be number one it was one of the few times I was upset with Fairy Tail as he should have died and stayed dead. I love the character but his death and sacrifice was so meaningful and the way it was done was perfect for passing the torch to Erza to be the new Guild master and the fact that they un did it really annoyed me.

Looks like everyone forgot the moment Natsu saves Erza after the tower of heaven collapses and her imagination of everyone crying in front of her funeral...Personally that is the saddest moment, though that episode is in the first arc of the anime (ep 40) but I always cry whenever watching. #2 is Lucy killed by Rogue and #3 is about the Aquarius key

They've ruined Makarov's sacrifice at the end. I would understand, if he was still useful for the plot,but he wasn't. Same thing with Lisanna. Mishima just does whatever his fans are telling him. But despite that fact,I still love fairy tail. The deep emotional connection this anime creates with other characters is otherworldly and sometimes I felt like I was part of the guild too. The plot and fights could've been better tho. Anyways,waiting for the 100 year quest getting animated,hope it won't disappoint.

The Makarov moments were so fucking trash to me. Like at some point the fake-out deaths with him just got annoying, I watched the final season with a friend and we were so tired of it that when his 456th "death" scene came around we were genuinely hoping and begging that he actually died for the sake of the story.
