Capo reportedly did sales of $70 million last year so James obviously knows his business and the fact that he had his company appraised by experts is also in his favour. He did everything right, The Sharks were just too high on themselves and did like that they had someone in the Tank not intimidated by them and would not allow himself to devalue his company for their investment and endorsement. Well done James. He will probably end up more wealthy than any of them.

I agree with the wine guy. They discounted the value of his company way too low. It was an insult. If they think they they could make "hundreds of millions" from the IP and the patents, then they should be happy with his offer. The reason they were so disappointed and upset is because THEY lost so much by him walking away. And if they were SO disappointed, then it means that they were way too greedy in their offer. Maybe this guy doesn't know how to negotiate and bring them closer to his offer, but he sure know when to say no.

I disagree. I'm glad his wine company is doing well, and it's very likely due to his patent IP. But I still think the sharks are correct. I think they would have made a *LOT* more licensing that patent to other companies across different sectors. THAT would have revolutionized the wine industry, and brought in _significantly_ more money. If his wine was good enough to stand on it's own, it would continue to grow. If it's just a generic wine in a convenient packaging, people are buying the packaging. If people are buying the packaging, the packaging is where the money is at.

Something unsurprising to see happen when you consider he runs a winery and that this seems more of a passion project over a true profit focus. He just doesn’t grasp that the desires of both sides were polar opposites

They haven't been fair with the vine guy, he had something unique and all they wanted was to sell it cheap. In my country, the Gillette brand is synonymous with a razor. This man literally has a company that can become synonymous with a wine packaged in a glass. And only then he can lincense his patent.

100% agree. That dude was right. He had a monopolized product. Selling licensing rights to the packaging would have gotten him pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile they are saying they can turn it into 10X the return yet arguing the valuation is too low.

the Copa de vino deals was literally a dream come true,, that 51% for 600k deal was crazy good and he got it TWICE. so many times the sharks offer a deal I'd JUMP on and that one was one I didn't think ANYONE would hesitate to take. hey.. maybe I'm not knowledgable enough 🤷🏻‍♂️ but nothing TWICE?? c'moooon

If you really think about it, his brand works because of the patent. I don't think his brand would have had that increase in sales if the conveniency of it was available elsewhere. So by selling the patent, he would be dealing a considerable blow to Copa de Vino. So I can see where he came from. But refusing a deal with 3 sharks in partnership? That was wild.
