The guy who had the car app that can control everything was ahead of his times. To be honest, all the range rovers in London, getting nicked and something like this would fix it, I know ghost is good, but I kind of like this better.

Bloody face Jones pulls at 1:17 right after the guy obvious had a strong problem with nerves for a tiny space of time and so regained his composure. What a prat Peter is at times. It was obvious and it is also very common to continue using the last few words of a sentence prior to that happening.

Yes, agree with you and the guy is asking for 2.5 million pounds. Peter's arrogance is part of his success in business, certainly Protective and an automatic way Peter's Personality expresses itself. So prat yes ok, agree and business acumen, cynical and arrogant works for Peter in business

he has to consider that this person asking for 2.5 million is going to be the face of the company. there's nothing against people who are bad at speaking, but the CEO has to be or how will they secure deals, funding etc.

7:26 - This was filmed between 2008 and 2011 and clearly these are not 'gizmos'. THEY DIDNT EXIST AT THE TIME! Steven's pitch was good and his car was CLEARLY ahead of the times and would have had MANY MORE features added by the time the final product entered the market. I dont understand why the Dragons were so harsh when this man was smart and it's an invention. They were looking for a fight.

Exactly! I still don't think he would've made it - it's just so much more capital intentive. However some of the ideas would be great even today. Exchangable battery packs for example.

Because it’s a bloke trying to take a car to market for 10m quid, and all he’s got is the power source. Everything he listed is already in existing cars at the time of the pitch. There is nothing unique about what he’s got. He hasn’t even invented anything, the power source is already in cars that are being sold in 2006/07 when this aired. If his idea was really that good then some of his “expert team from McLaren, BMW & Lamborghini”, would have taken him in front of one of their ceos & pitched to them directly and sold the idea to one of those car companies. Don’t you think the likes of BMW or McLaren would have bought his concept from him had it been good enough? The only thing he got right was the market. He knew that there was huge market potential for a good electric car; basically had the foresight like Elon Musk did with Tesla; the difference being that Tesla cost 7.5m in funding to launch and over 100m personal investment from Elon’s sales of PayPal stock. His idea isn’t bad. But his rounds of funding are wayyyyyy off the mark. If they invested 2.5m that day for 30% that’d mean that he expects to take it to market for about 8.3m, Theo nailed it when he said that car companies probably spend more than that per month on innovation.

First guy is all over the place, talking about SEVERAL multi million, and multi-billion industries, but he's going to do them all at the same time? Whaa? I'm sure Vauxhall or Ford don't MAKE batteries, they just buy 'em, like a million batteries at a time.

Yea, you're correct. All car batteries are made up of hundreds of small "batteries" cells (think like an AA battery), and the car companies buy those and connect them together then put them in a housing. No car manufacturer CREATES the actual cells. To harvest lithium and make batteries is an insane feat that would bankrupt any car company. There are only a few people that ACTUALLY make batteries, and it will always be like that. They have put their leashes on all lithium mines.

How was a great pitch? He literally stopped in the middle of it with an awkward silence. Do you know what a great pitch actually is? How is that a great idea? He literally thought he could have a piece of market share of EV with the sole total investment of 10,5mil pounds. That is not a great idea, it's a speedrun to lose money. How were his good responses? When Theo asked for USP he couldn't say any. Literally all of the things he said he would use a differentiators were already out there while they were speaking, imagine how common those would be in another 2 years time when his car would actually be able to go on market. That was a trash pitch, with a trash idea and trash responses. Nobody was out simply cause the money asked were too much, in fact they said it's quite the opposite, it's literally not enough money. Nobody was out cause of the bad valuation of the business, nobody complained or even mentioned that. They were out cause it's clearly not a business proposition. That guy lost his half mil pounds and will never see it back.

Well they're not wrong that it costs a lot of money to develop a car. Considering how much money Elon Musk had to raise for and put into Tesla that was on the brink of bankruptcy. If it was Elon Musk pitching Tesla on Dragons Den yeah theyd be kicking themselves but Bee Automotive has been dissolved since 2011.

In 2009 (when this was aired)Tesla introduced the Model-S, but before that they had gained a lot of expertience and R'n'D with the Roadster. I REALLY don't think he was CLOSE to have the resources needed to pull this off.

Literally none of these where worthwhile investments. 10 million for that Bee car? Do you know what it costs to get a car crash tested and certified? The Peel P50 was niche at best. The app thing, 100% wouldn't stop a car theft. If they really want your car, they'd simply rip out the device and have the car stolen still.
