Top 3 Benefits and Uses Of Coconut Oil - Dr. Berg

There are three main benefits of coconut oil which are powerful for your health.
In this video, I explain the three main benefits of coconut oil for your health. I know some people are a little nervous about consuming it, based on false information. By the way, it’s not bad for your heart, nor is it a poison.
It’s been used for hundreds of years by many cultures without problems. In fact, there are some cultures whose diet is 60 percent coconut-based, which is quite healthy. (Side note: coconut oil will boost HDL, the so-called good cholesterol.)
The coconut is the largest seed on earth. It takes 3 years to break down the soil it's in, so that it can grow. The three significant benefits of coconut oil are:
● Supports your brain.
A significant amount of coconut oil is what’s called MCT, or medium-chain triglycerides. This is a type of fat that turns into ketones. Your brain cells love ketones. They protect the nerves and brain cells against stress. They’ve been shown to boost cognitive function, and help people with dementia as well as Alzheimer’s.
● It’s antibacterial and antimicrobial.
Its 3 main fatty acids are caprylic, capril, and lauric, and they’re responsible for these properties, along with being antifungal, anti-candida, anti-yeast, and antiviral. Monolaurin, the precursor to lauric acid, has the capacity to dismantle the fatty layer around certain viruses. So it’s beneficial for your immune system.
● Provides you more energy, because MCT oil doesn’t require digestive enzymes.
It gets absorbed directly into your body. You get fatty acids and ketones for fuel, which are much more efficient than glucose. You’ll get more of what’s called ATP, the body’s energy than you do from carbs.
You can tell how powerful these three main benefits of coconut oil are for your health.

I am insulin resistant and I weighed over 600 lbs. over a month ago. While looking for a diet that insulin resistant people can do to gain my health back I found the keto diet and my brother directed me here to this channel. I've been on the keto diet for 6 weeks now and I have lost over 100 lbs. I don't crave foods high in carbs and I intermittent fast daily with no problems. I wish I had better information when I was a child and I would have had a better life but I will carry on now and try to salvage what's left of it.

Oh my... first of all, congratulations. I think you have defeated the worst & toughest enemy. It's not the weight but your mind & perception. I am glad that you are receptive and listened to your brother. In many cases, the advices from the closed family members are not effective. People rather listen to strangers and some fall to ill advices & bad information. What you have achieved so far is outstanding (lost over 100 lbs.). It is very encouraging and you should be very proud of yourself. Please continue spreading your story to the other and show them you are a living proof of a healthy lifestyle (diet). I wish you the best luck!

Hi Dr. Berg. Thank you so much for doing another video on the amazing coconut oil. I heard Dr. Bruce Fife say that coconut oil lowers your blood sugars when you consume it after a meal and that it can even lower the glycemic index of anything you eat by simply adding coconut oil to it. Is this true? Does this also mean that coconut oil can fix insulin resistance and increase your insulin sensitivity? I also read somewhere that coconut oil does not spike your insulin. Could you confirm all this? Thank you very much! Greetings from the Netherlands.

What is the difference between using MCT oil, or just consuming cold pressed, organic coconut oil?? I usually use coconut oil in my coffee, and sometimes mix it with almond butter.

Dr. Berg, Thank you for your videos! You have helped me lose over 70 lbs. I just had blood work done (re-rated my life insurance and saved $20/mo.) It came back with high bilirubin, this looks related to the liver. Do you think I have something to worry about or is this a situation that is normal in ketosis? Thanks again!

Those who call coconut oil a poison are either ignorants or foolish to the core. In southern part of India, majority of people and especially the people in the state of Kerala, use coconut oil to prepare their food and use it on their skin and skull to massage their hair. And these people are one of the most intelligent race on this planet. There is 100% literacy rate in Kerala. People are beautiful, educated and very intelligent. They use coconut 🌴 🥥 fruit and its oil in abundance. It is a very healthy oil, both for body and brains 🧠.

Coconut oil is awesome but it seems to be breaking me out which isn't particularly hard to do. Being comedogenic, it can block pores pretty thoroughly for some but I didn't know this may be an issue when ingested as well.

I shouldn’t think so.. but directly on skin is a no no for me, as I have fairly oily skin.. I’ve used it to do the cleansing method, with castor oil.. it really clears the skin but then I also worrry I’ve I’m clogging the skin.. so I stopped .. it really did cleanse deeply.. I could be wrong if it’s removed carefully

Has anyone compared EVCO and MCT? Was your energy level and concentration the same? Which one suppressed your appetite better? For me EVCO did a much better job in all these areas and it doesn't take much for me at least, about 1/4 tsp now (to start with use less than that) is all I need once in the morning. It's perfect in my coffee (with a splash of grass-fed heavy cream or organic coconut milk, no sweetner) for nice clean energy that lasts all day. It was a terrific help when I was going to X-ray school. AND it does not interfere with my sleep whereas drinking coffee in the late afternoon could keep me up.

Dr. Berg what about MCT oil vs Coconut oil? I read this article that suggest the marketing of MCT oil is hype and Coconut oil is not only cheaper but better for you then the highly marketed MCT oil. Thanks !

I know that virgin is best, but I wasn't paying enough attention when I bought my most recent coconut oil. It is still organic but it is not virgin. Instead it is expeller pressed. Is this still beneficial? I didn't notice until I got two large jars.

Dr Berg I have a question. Eating coconut whole, oil not extracted, does one get exact same benefits? I ask this because of the thin line between eating whole fruits versus juicing those very same fruits.

Hi Dr, so I've started intermittent fasting, and things are going great, but I would like to start taking moringa powder....now I've recently found out that moringa contains antinutrients which block the effectiveness of absorption of other nutrients in the gut. So it might be better taking it in the morning so i don't diminish the effectiveness of my other supplements that i take later in the day, right? I also know that boiling reduces the effectiveness of antinutrients, so having it in a cup of tea in the morning should be fine i think, BUT WILL IT THROW ME OUT OF KETOSIS?? Thank you....looking forward to your response! 😊
