    The twist in life of Pi was kind of brilliant. He went on a traumatic journey for survival and he copes with it by adding some spectacle to his story. Just because the real story wasn’t as magical as the one he told, doesn’t mean its a bad twist. It makes it more realistic. A sad story sweetened to inspire others.

    It isn't a twist at all, it's a choice. You the viewer (or reader of the book) are supposed to choose which is the better story. The narrator says at the beginning, "I have a story to make you believe in God." The animal story is God The human story is "facts" Neither is right or wrong, you just have to decide which is better It is truly brilliant!

    I agree. And to be honest, I do think that Richard Parker was in fact with him on the boat, just because of his reaction to Richard starting his life over without Pi, not showing him his love for him, not being impacted as deeply as his human friend. Pi was truly shattered by Richard's departure because he fell in love with him, and when fear turns to love it's much harder to say goodbye than it would have been if the love was reciprocated by, say, a romantic interest. Pi's relationship with Richard was more complex than that, it was a learning curve, growing up, opening up, learning to communicate learning to see the soul behind the person/animal that seem so frightening and unaproachable in the beginning. So I choose to believe that Richard was in fact there with him. Just the two of them at sea. And Richard lived on in the jungle but took a piece of Pi's soul with him.

    The twist of the Life of Pi is fantastic, both as in the film as in the book. Using imagination as denial to cope with trauma is something that really happens and gives the story a harrowing reality to it, whilst making it look gorgeous.

    I think you guys kinda missed the mark on Signs. Bo had a tick that made her think her drinking water was always contaminated, resulted in 3/4 filled water glasses all over the house. If those water glasses weren’t there, when Merrill knocked the alien in the house back and the glass spilled, it finally led Graham to see that everything really does happen for a reason. Like his wife passing and her telling him to tell Merrill to “swing away” to Bo with her water issue to Morgan and his asthma (due to his asthma attack in the basement, he couldn’t breathe in the gas the alien let out in the house).

Phoebe’s final comment, “Oh, why can’t you just go back to playing the idiot (blah, blah, blah)...” before moving on to the next movie really rubbed me the wrong way. This list is so far fetched and some of these have great plot twists. -It was explained it Hancock as to why Hancock was "randomly" returning to his estranged wife... -In Now You See Me, Ruffalo's Rhodes character wasn't a bumbling agent. He acted life a baffoon just so the Horsemen would not get caught. -Now You See Me 2 is also a good plot twist, Freeman may be part of The Eye, so why is it hard to believe that this organisation would have different "ranks" and obviously, Freeman had a higher rank than Ruffalo. -The Number 23 has a great plot twist. Who would have thought that Carrey's character was a "rehabilitated" patient that started a new life and his past came rushing back? And well. Carrey gave an epic performance out of character. -Indy 4 had a great twist. Indy has always been associated with mythic tales. So how was it different from Indy finding the Grail and healing his father with it? What else was Indy suppose to do during the 50s, yunno, the era of aliens and area 51? Even in Temple of Doom, Indy "parachuted" with Shortround and the girl in a raft... How was that different from the fridge sequence? People take everything to literal. The movie was not bad as the critics say it was. I am still waiting for Reservoir Dogs The Dark Knight Rises to ne mentioned. Even The Dark Knight should be on this list. -It was also explained in A Good Day to Die Hard that the protectee was a villain, but he was to be used as an informant. The plot twist was that the girl was his daughter and they were working to get back their stash. Pretty good plot twist for an action movie. Nobody saw that coming. Reservoir Dogs reveals "the mole" halfway through the movie, then the movie loses all motives to continue to the ending it had. -"Miranda Tate" was obviously the mind behind the whole operation of the league of shadows. She knew exactly what do to and twisted Bruce to do what she wanted very easily. -Although lacking a lot of character development, TDK's plot twist was that Batman would be blame for the murder of Harvey Dent "just because he's the hero Gotham needs"... Why not just blame it on Joker amd turn the page?

  • @morgantaylor84

    @morgantaylor84

    Жыл бұрын

    Because Joker was in custody at that point in the story. Also they're not wrongfully blaming him for the murder. They're chasing him because he did murder Harvey, justified or not and whether he'd actually be convicted or not, he still murdered him. It's not a twist, it's a sequel bait ending so it doesn't belong on this list but instead on a different one.

    The ending of the movie "Remember Me" is an excellent example of the literary term "deus ex machina" whereby the resolution of the movie comes out of nowhere at the end of the movie with no foreshadowing. Another great example is the ending to "The Wizard of Oz". You have to use coincidences to start a book or movie. Using a coincidence to resolve the plot is called cheating.

  • @alejandrosalas9866

    @alejandrosalas9866

    Not really. "Deus ex machina" refers to a highly unlikely event resolving an overcomplicated conflict. All conflicts had been resolved at that point, it was leading to a happy ending, then it happens. As for the foreshadowing part, there are hints about the time the story develops and it is clear that his father's offices are at the WTC. I'd add that it represents how unexpected the actual attack was.

    Top 10 Power Rangers Beast Morphers Characters 10: Blaze (The original Red Beast Morphers Power Ranger, Blaze is cocky, arrogant, and isn't above using the rules to his advantage, especially if it means throwing an intruder into a cell even if they have an important message, putting rivals in a bad position to retaliate. He originally had contempt for Devon Daniels, but respected him in the end, showing he truly is good at heart. Following his awakening, he has become a nicer person, and has since become a reliable ally. ) 9: Roxy (The original Yellow Beast Morphers Power Ranger, unlike Blaze, Roxy is kinder and more caring, lacking her would-be-teammate's arrogance. While upset about breaking up with Ravi, she does understand his preference to protocol but she is shown sad about Ravi's choice. Upon her reawakening, Roxy is happy to see Ravi again and helps the team rescue Devon. ) 8: Ben and Betty Burke (Probably the clumsiest workers at Grid Battleforce, Ben and Betty could possibly be related to equally clumsy fools, like Bulk and Skull. However unlike Bulk and Skull, Ben and Betty are nicer and try to help the Rangers in anyway they can. While Ben is humble and nice, Betty is more impulsive and outgoing, often dragging her brother into situations he'd rather avoid. Either way, these two are as funny as they come.) 7: Commander Shaw (Ravi's mother and the commander of Grid Battleforce, Commander Shaw is arguably one of the best Ranger mentors of all Ranger history. All though some people call her a little harsh because of her hatred of art and the idea of Ravi doing anything that doesn't involve work, Commander Shaw makes the wise decision to appoint Devon Daniels as the new Commander of Grid Battleforce and she learn to have a little fun in her life. Despite all of this, Commander Shaw doesn't always have the right answers.) 6: Mayor Adam Daniels (As the Mayor, Adam seems to be a fairly responsible and strict father to Devon, but he truly cares for his son and wants him to be prepared for the professional world. Despite thinking that Devon is so irresponsible, we were all wishing for the moment when Mayor Daniels finally found out his son is the Red Ranger. Sadly for Mayor Daniels, when he tried to save Devon from the Cyber Dimension, he ended up being possessed by the wicked Evox, leaving Devon heartbroken. However, after he's free from Evox's body, Mayor Adam Daniels still remains a good and loyal human being.) 5: Steel (Created by Nate, Steel was originally suppose to become the robot body for the evil and destructive Evox. However, when Nate morphed into the Gold Ranger, Steel morphed into the Silver Ranger. And one more surprise, it turns out that Steel is technically human. While morphing into the Silver Ranger, some of the scarab beetle DNA mixed in with Hate's DNA, making Nate and Steel brothers. Despite being self-absorbed, active, self-obsessed, and very confident, Steel is the first Power Ranger to scarab beetle themed, making Steel an all around amazing Ranger.) 4: Nate Silva (Nate is a prodigy who joined Grid Battleforce at the age of six. When he was 10, he discovered a way to harness the Morphin Grid, allowing him to refine it into a substance called Morph X. Although being a little nerdy and most people thinking he can't take care of himself, Nate was able to become the Gold Ranger and he was smart enough to create a Silver Ranger. Nate is a quick thinker in situations that require it. Being a single child, Nate always wanted an elder brother and considers Steel as a brother-figure. Nate also has feelings for Zoey, sending her Valentine's flowers secretly. Despite loving all living creatures, he suffers from arachnophobia, a fear of spiders. He has a liking for science fiction and doesn't know how to play most sports.) 3: Ravi Shaw (Ravi is the team's Blue Ranger and the muscles of the group, having Gorilla strength in his DNA. Ravi values the rules at Grid Battleforce and doesn't like the ideas of breaking any laws or the idea of disappointing his mother. Sadly for Ravi, he was forced to break up with his girlfriend Roxy because the Grid Battleforce rules state that Rangers can't date Rangers. However, since Roxy was knocked into a coma and turned into an evil Avatar, she never became a Ranger and Ravi and Roxy were able to be together.) 2: Zoey Reeves (Originally a laundry girl at Grid Battleforce, Zoey trained to become a Battleforce cadet, but got cut for unknown reasons. However, claiming that she's not afraid of big problems, but she solves big problems, boosts her confidence to become the Yellow Beast Morphers Power Ranger. She developed a crush on Nate Silva when she first met the smart little scientist, Zoey and Nate were able to change the rules of Grid Battleforce and the two were able to have a relationship together. With the ability to jump really high due to being linked with Jackrabbit DNA and being the only female Ranger on the team, Zoey has become a favorite amongst fans and a close second to our number one pick. ) Honorable Mentions: Evox, Blaze and Roxy Avatars, Scrozzle, Beast Bots, General Burke, Muriel Reeves 1: Devon Daniels (The son of Mayor Adam Daniels, Devon is a brown belt in karate, loves to play video games, and not much into serious work, but he really wants to make his father proud. Having superhuman speed because he is linked with cheetah DNA, Devon is the fastest amongst his fellow Rangers. Just wanting to see the battle simulator in Grid Battleforce, Devon technically becomes the Red Ranger on accident. However, before becoming Ranger, Devon is shown to be brave and strong, helping to fight against the Blaze and Roxy Avatar without even being a Ranger. Even if his memory is erased or if he has been taken over by a fury cell, Devon will fight against his fellow Rangers to the very end. Devon is arguably one of the best Red Rangers of all time. )

    You could have included "The Tourist" with Johnny Depp (which I ironically watched yesterday). The twist where the RANDOMLY-PICKED guy ends up being the mysterious Alexander is cool. However, what if Jolie's character had picked ANOTHER random guy? Plus, his main goal was to hide. Instead, he risks his life and almost gets killed many times and for what? Just to test his woman's love? A sizable hole, if you ask me.

    Life of Pi was actually a very good ending. And it shouldn't even be called a twist. It actually leaves you with the question, 'which would you prefer'. It does a very good job about illustration the phycological turn of survival and how we cope with the aftermath. It is actually very well done and just because you are left with questions about the story does not take away from that. So to even put it on this list as a 'worst movie plot' is disgraceful.

    People that get upset about the plot twist of Signs never heard the original War of the Worlds (a radio broadcast from way back yonder that had nearly the entire USA shook). There was nothing humanity could do, until our own germs and atmosphere killed them for us. For anime viewers, it's what the Chimera Ant Arc was based on in Hunter X Hunter. No one could kill Meruem, yet he died from simply being poisoned by something that humans were immune to.

    High Tension was fantastic! I showed that movie to everyone I know. And watching it with the directors commentary it explains the "twist". Originally the film started like it did with the girl talking to herself in the cell, "I won't let anyone come between us anymore". Then the cop said, "ok I'm listening." The movie plays out like it did except for the gas station tape. At the end of the movie the cop was going to say. "That's what you think happened? Can you explain this"? And showed her the tape.
