For us older people, Bill Cosby was greatly loved LONG before he was Dr. Huxtable. He broke ground as a black man in a "good guy" role in I Spy, he had numerous comedy specials, Fat Albert, cartoons, The Bill Cosby Show, and etc. His fall left people across generations stunned and sickened, and compounded by the fact that it was a well-known "secret" that nobody did a damn thing about.

Years ago, while 7th Heaven was still on, my aunt found a romance novel written by Stephen Collins at our local library. She checked it out to read out of curiosity, but she soon returned it because of its graphic and disturbing content. I read one or two pages out of curiosity, and I genuinely wish I hadn’t because the part I had the misfortune of reading contained a graphic sexual assault scene. I think of that every time I hear about the scandal because it feels like his perversity was there all along and it simply escaped most people’s attention. The novel in question was billed as “A woman rebuilds her life and finds love after a tragedy, blah blah blah” with no indicator of the graphic content. I wonder how the people who promoted the novel feel now. Edit- I wasn’t trying to say, “Oh, if writers write about certain things, they’re bad people!” I apologize if it came across that way. It’s just that learning about the things he was into made me think back on what he had written, like a “Things that make you go, ‘Hmm…’” moment.

I don’t really see authors books as what they feel, believe, or think is okay in the real world. Except in this case and maybe a hand full of others. A lot of books that have graphic things in them aren’t written by bad people. Sadly those things happen in real life and it makes sense it’s in some books. For the record, I was mentally, verbally, emotionally, and a few times physical abused by a relative when I was younger among other things I don’t want to get into. So I know what it’s like to go through such things. I don’t think all writers are bad people for writing things like that. I know some do.

And, now knowing that since 2yrs into his marriage to his wife Camille he has been harrassing and assaulting women along with paying off a tabloid magazine to cover his daughter's struggles with drugs over his horrendous activities with multiple women in the 80s just makes me not want to watch anything he has done ever again. And in addition to forever tarnishing the legacy of THE COSBY SHOW, Cosby lost at least 40+ honors including 2 in his wife's name as a result of his evil crap. One of those lost honors was his 1999 Kennedy Center Honor. I feel like I can't watch the Cosby Show anymore because of Billy Cosby. I work at my local grocery store and after Bob Saget passed away, we had a magazine cover of him that called him "America's Dad". I didn't know that Cosby had the nickname until much later, and it made me realize that they gave that nickname to Saget probably because of what Cosby did to those poor women.

The irony of these scandals are being called out in an era where so many doing just as many bad things are excused for "living their own truth"! Case in point: Allison Mack should be seen as a cautionary tale of allowing any actor/actress to be in the position of a "self-insert Mary Sue". That in no way diminishes any of these examples, rather points to the fact that all of them are about abuse of power and fame.

Let me just remind you Nickelodeon owned by Paramount try to pay reminder Jennette McCurdy money to keep her mouth shut, imagine that happening to the other actors on Nickelodeon they could not speak about this until after they left Nickelodeon but not only that parents of those famous actors playing roles do not want all these allegations you know find out because they will try to punish their children any other way to make them keep their mouth shut. If you're asking how they cannot take Dan Schneider to court it's due to st(p!d California's law aka the statue of limitation/ oh it's been years ever since so I cannot sue the person or the company or anyone who done anything that was really bad to me to court because it's been years ago. Don't blame me that's what California said as someone who tried to sue my own school for stuff that I went through in middle school I cannot sue them due to oh three words actually the statues of limitations in California but not only in California in ALL 50 states.
