That would be a parental nightmare.

The Exorcist dream sequence scared me, because of the symbolism and the emotion that went through it. She is going down into the subway but not just the subway, she is going “Down”, and that terrified me cos its Damians mother and he can’t do anything about it. Damian just has to watch his mother who he abandoned in the last moments of her life descend into hell, and I think anyone who has an unbeatable relationship with their mother can imagine themselves in that scene, and that can be terrifying in another way that isn’t the typical jumpscare.

@@PrinceAkpan I agree with Josh Mcgrath. The Exorcist has a far deeper horrific, jump scare.. In modern day horrors, I can predict almost every jump scare... For some unsettling reason I still dread the dream sequence, it's so dark, it gets under my skin, making me feel like i am having a waking nightmare.... I'm a hardened, horror and gore fan and I still find myself looking away when the dream scene unfolds.. In my humble opinion of course .

I saw American Werewolf in London when I was little, the dream scenes gave me nightmares for years, especially Davids face on that hospital bed in the forrest... anyone who's seen that movie remembers the scene. Its been nearly 20 years, and I still look away!

Yep, I still can’t watch that scene either... it’s not just the visual, it’s the sounds used as well that give me the creeps.

How is it possible that American Werewolf in London in not on this list!! Dream in a dream was terrifying!!

When I was five years old, I had a hallucination, which was a symptom of a staph infection, that is nightmare fuel for adults. The details are as follows: I woke up early in the morning, but when I pulled my left foot out from under the covers, I was met with the sight of ants crawling all over and burrowing into the bottom of my foot. Eventually, a few layers of skin detached from my foot halfway, revealing even more ants. I shoved my foot back under the covers, closed my eyes, and looked away in fear, and, after a moment or two, I slowly pulled my foot back out to see that there were no ants and no detached skin, as if nothing ever happened

I really liked ur nightmare ......if it is not used in movies before i really wish to see a visual representation of this nightmare on my screen ........ it will also be great if i see it in any latest game bcz every game who looks terrifying has atleast one lvl with insects

Correction: Silent Hill is like something out of Jacobs Ladder, not the other way around. Team silent has openly stated this. Pretty awesome and original stuff in both. Check out Easter eggs in silent hill for Jacobs Ladder, such as the subway station names.

Yall killed this video. No complaints from me. My 2 favs are. 1. Nightmare on elm street. Dream sequence. 2. Trainspotting, that sequence freaked me out when I first saw it.

Never seen #17 but I definitely don't have too much desire too anymore, the acting in those two short scenes was off putting! That's my nightmare! This was a cool list though, Thank you Miss Mojo!

The scene from Aliens is possibly my favorite on the list. You guys should totally make a list of top N.O.E.S. Dream sequences (nightmares) 💜

One scary dream that probably should've been put on that list is the Toaster's nightmare from The Brave Little Toaster. The clown in that dream scared me a lot when I was a little kid.

fantastic pics, and agree with the choises but I think you missed the cartoon movie Watership Down. Dream sequence is horrifiying...trainspotting caused a friend to have a real breakdown.

The dream sequence from "David & Lisa". That scared me SO bad when I was kid I started to stutter.

The only sequences on this list I know best are both the Dumbo and Trainspotting scenes,so I am partially lucky to have not seen the rest.I won't ever do this stuff anyway,so I have nothing to fear..

The Carrie nightmare wrecked me when I was younger. I probably watched when I was about 10 and for like 6 months I was terrified of an arm reaching out from underneath my bed. I would do a running jump onto my bed at night.

@@WatchMojo The older gentleman that’s one of the main stars wakes up and hears noises out in the hall of his apartment nothings there it’s dark and then right behind him he doesn’t turn around or anything but a hand goes up to his mouth and then he wakes up in shock and fear I got to tell you I’ve had dreams like that and they just bother me so much

Now I need a drink after seeing too much terrifying today. 😱

Baby on the ceiling definitely messed me up, I assume it’s intentional but the babies diaper looks full bc it died of neglect, and it’s obviously bloated from the death it’s truly masterful how disturbing it is

I remember that one dream sequence where Winnie the Pooh has a nightmare about Heffalumps and Woozles

I saw Dumbo when I was five I wasn’t even a little bit scared by the Pink Elephants scene

I am rather surprised that the dream ballet from "Oklahoma" isn't here (as the person having it is scared stiff by what it implies)

Okay I'm not gonna lie that dream sequence from The Woman In Black is pretty damn effective. This is the first time that I've ever seen that (didn't even know there was an older version of the film) and that's pretty nightmarish indeed. Something about the way it's shot and the expression on her face with that screeching sound is truly terrifying. Much more scarier than what they did in the 2012 version as well as several other haunted house movies over the last 20 years.

I’m not one who’s easily scared or easily disturbed, but “Dead Ringers” is no doubt the most disturbing movie I’ve ever seen, and I was able to sit through “A Clockwork Orange”...

Whenever I have a nightmare or a scary vision, it would make me feel too scared to go to sleep. It’s like venturing into the dark side of my mind.

I was hoping that Sydney’s dream sequence about her mom from Scream 3 would be here, that part messed me up when I was a kid hahahaha

Jacob’s Ladder is a masterpiece. It is literally the inspiration for Silent Hill.

Jacobs Ladder IS the inspiration for Silent Hill as well as a bunch of other films like Kindergarden Cop

I know its not technically a dream although it's portrayed as one but the scene in the Matrix where Neo gets bigger freaked me out as a kid.

The dream sequences on The Sopranos were more frightening than all of these combined.
