Planar Pitons - These magical pitons appear normal to the naked eye, but when pressed into a solid surface they slide in effortlessly and cause no apparent damage, allowing one to climb incredibly tough or even fragile surfaces. The planar pitons actually pierce into a nearby plane of existence and find anchor there. (Maybe stabbing temporary holes between the planes has consequences, maybe you're continuously stabbing an archfey's summer home? Who knows.)

Oh crap I think I'm going to steal this so I can explain why the cult can restrain an angle it binds him to one spot on the mortal plain and can't plane shift away and they can come across one of the items earlier and if they try to do something similar to creatures it wont do anything if they are from the plane that it is used on. I'm not sure if I should do it for the angle or the avatar of the god the cultists are using to open a portal to summon a demon lord. That will be the end scene of the campaign so that will have a long way to wait.

I really think that’s fucking cool. The idea that at one point, the Archfey sets up a chair outside, sits down, and just waits for whatever keeps chipping holes into the side of his home. One morning, as he is fading in and out of awareness due to day-dreaming, he hears a cracking sound. Looking around, he watches a piece of rock break off the corner of a large stone making up the border for a window. The stone cracks some more. All of the sudden, it basically shatters and falls apart. Silence ensues for about 20 seconds. Then, there’s a terrible noise as a hole appears in his large picture window...cracks spider to the corners, and the entire window shatters into thousands of pieces. Silence ensues for about 20 more seconds. Once again, a piece of rock falls out of a stone and he runs over to it, puts his hand into the hole and finds a miniature portal. He reaches in and grabs the piton (PIE-TAWN) and YANKS it. His hand comes back out...followed by a piton...followed by a rope...and more rope...and more rope...then, a HALFLING? But wait, there’s more rope! He pulls some more. After another 25 feet of rope, he pulls out AN ELF? Exasperated, he sees EVEN MORE ROPE coming out of the hole. So, he pulls and pulls and pulls...the thing seems stuck...he starts pulling really hard, but nothing happens. He calls out, and some satyrs come frolicking out of the forest, and begin to help. And POP, out comes a fat dwarf. And a lot of pieces of his wall. The archfey is PIIIIIISSSSSSED. Session ends there and the players spend a week biting their nails, wondering what on the planes he is going to do to them. That sounds so fun.

I actually got a great book of this stuff TODAY for my birthday called “Arcane Artifacts and Curious Curios” that’s got literally a thousand super quick, simple, magic items for TTRPGs - haven’t read through much of it yet but it looks great. As for your little contest, my players are currently carrying a mirror that doesn’t reflect creatures unless they’re invisible - they’ve figured it’s magical (none of them show up in it) but yet to decipher how! Can’t wait til they spot the imp that’s following been them 😈

I ran an encounter where the party were in a rowboat that was taking damage from arrows, so I allowed them to use their action to bail out 1 gallon of water, while each arrow the boat took added another gallon flooding in per round. The boat became so damaged they couldn't keep up, and were only a few rounds away from sinking (as the boat took on water they also lost 10ft of movement a round at certain points). The paladin took out his dust of dryness and used it to remove all the water from the boat, twice. It was the coolest use of a magic item that has no apparent out of the box use, but only an application in specific situations that I'd ever saw. Glad I subscribed, I'm the guy that compared you to Colville from reddit by the way.

My favorite for a waterskin was having it hold light, letting you hold it slightly open to illuminate locations, fully illuminate a room for a scene, light blast vampires for a single 1d10 attack ranged spell attack, etc. For an empty sack, I loved having a living "alligator purse", which can consume and store objects on its own, and spit out other things too. For magic rope, I loved having one that had a command word to be sturdy and solid, letting it even function as a staff weapon or vaulting pole. For a bell, when it rings, its twin bell also rings from anywhere. Kinda like a long distance alarm or pager.

My first campaign as a player, I was a barbarian from a strange land that was captured while trying to visit this kingdom to warn them of a threat coming their way. I was then conscripted to be the guide for the party of the king's agents to corroborate my story. The king ordered his guards to remove my manacles but refused to give me my weapons and armor. So I kept the manacles. Our first combat, I charged against a bunch of bandits, swinging my manacles and using them as both melee and ranged weapons until I was able to acquire a blade of theirs! For the duration of our game, my Barbarian both carried and used his manacles for all sorts of hijinx. It was my favorite part of the game that was never planned.

Invisible Caltrops A bag of 20 caltrops that as an action, you can spread to cover a square area that is 5 feet on a side. Only the creature that deployed the caltrops can see them when they are strewn on the ground as they are invisible to everyone else. Any effect that sees an invisible creature can see the caltrops, like true sight. They can not be detected by sound as they are not moving and any scent is diffuse, so can not precisely locate the caltrops either. Sweeping an area with something that will move the caltrops will reveal them. Once any creature takes damage from the caltrops, they become visible to anyone. Any creature that enters the area must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, with disadvantage if the caltrops are invisible, or stop moving this turn and take 1 piercing damage. Taking this damage reduces the creature's walking speed by 10 feet until the creature regains at least 1 hit point. A creature moving through the area at half speed doesn't need to make the save, but only if they can see the caltrops. If a creature is moving at half speed or less through caltrops that are invisible, they make a DC 15 Dexterity save or stop moving this turn and take 1 piercing damage. This would be a nice thing for that escaping BBEG to use to avoid dying to the players too early.

A quick idea I had about the grappling hook to make it a little more magical: it could hook onto an object without making a sound, or maybe be able to grab onto any non-smooth surface. If wanting to add a little cantrip magic to it, it could be a guiding grappling hook, and anyone trying to use it will gain a d4 to their skill check.

Your section on tools, gave me this idea. Rod of Masterful Labor (requires attunement) The rod is the same size and shape of a normal tool hammer and weighs 3lb. Once attuned with the Rod of Masterful Labor, a command word will change it into another the tool as described below. The command word is usually the name of the tool desired, but the language used for the command words can vary. The tools function normally, even though the rod is only 3lb. If you have proficiency with club, battleaxe, light hammer, maul, war pick, simple and/or martial weapons, you have proficiency with the Rod of Masterful Labor in all tool modes when used as a weapon. While the rod is magical, it does not confer any magical attack bonus nor is considered a magical weapon for attacks. Hammer is the default state of the rod and it can be used as a normal hammer tool. If the rod in hammer form is used as a weapon, it is a 1d4 bludgeoning weapon with the light property and can be thrown with a normal range of 20ft and a long range of 60ft. The hammer command will change the rod back into it's default hammer state. The sledge command has the rod lengthen and the hammer head grow into a sledge tool. If the rod in sledge form is used as a weapon, it is a 2d6 bludgeoning weapon with the heavy and two-handed properties. The pick command grows the rod length and the hammer head extends into pointed ends transforming the rod into a miner's pick. If the rod in pick form is used as a weapon, it is a 1d8 piercing weapon. The shovel command extends the rod length and the hammer head flattens out into a spade end transforming the rod into a shovel. If the rod in shovel form is used as a weapon, it is a 1d8 slashing weapon with the versatile (1d10) property. The crowbar command has the shaft lengthen and the hammer head melt over the shaft, transforming the rod into a crowbar. If the rod in crowbar form is used as a weapon, it is a 1d4 bludgeoning weapon with the light property.

  • @steveaustin2686

It's actually a shapeshifting tool, but most tools are close enough to work as weapons. A warhammer and a real hammer have different heads, but the heads are roughly the same size. And of course the warhammer has a much longer shaft. So I figured a hammer is a light hammer, crowbar is a club, sledge is a maul, miner's pick is a war pick and shovel is close to a battleaxe. I thought about downgrading the damage, but decided not to. Think of the Rod of Masterful Labor as the Rod of Lordly might for a handyman. If you would like to see farm implements used as weapons, see Madeline the Paladin from Rusty and Company. rustyandco.com/comic/level-1-title/ She first appears in level 2.

I've recently started a campaign I'm trying to keep lower magic than traditional, so when characters do receive a magic item, it's a bigger deal. I like the idea of mundane items with cantrip-level effects. A useful enchantment for a grappling hook would be the ability to easily unhook itself and return to the user.

Suppose you have a magical coil of gold wire that when you wrap it onto your skin becomes a golden tattoo - that could be a cool way to hide some cash on your person, or a magic wood ax that will automatically cut through any single piece of wood (be it tree, log, board, or twig), or a saw that only cuts one kind of material, like stone or water. So many ideas!

[Edit: realized too late that this video was made a year ago. Nonetheless, if DM's want to use these in their games, be my guest :) ] "Elemental Mirror": This beautiful glass mirror has ancient elven writing on the rim around the glass. When looking in this mirror, the reflection is more fiery, watery, airy or rocky, depending on the mood. [Either with charges or 1x p/LR]. If you cast a spell (up to a certain level) through this glass mirror, it will have the damage type of the opposite element. So a Fire Bolt will be a Cold Bolt, Lightning/Thunder, Necrotic/Radiant, Poison/Acid, Psychic/Force. Great for getting around resistances/immunities. "Hook of the Iron Chain Master": When thrown at a target, the grappling hooks will transform into iron balls to create a bolas. The wielder makes a ranged attack and when hit, it will restrain the target by wrapping itself around the legs. It takes an Action to perform a Strength check to free oneself. (Or you can do 1d4 bludgeoning damage). "The Critical Crickets' Whistle": A brownish, shiny whistle, said to be used by the harshest art critics of the land, produces cricket sounds. When blown, a single target within 30 ft. will hear nothing but awkward silence and crickets sounds. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw or lose his self-confidence, believing the crickets in his head. For 10 minutes, the target has disadvantage on all Charisma skill checks. Bonus: Stone of Final Rest, a small tombstone with silver scripture on it that can transform into a shovel. If used to dig a grave to bury a person, after 1 hour, the stone is put at the head of the grave where it transforms into a regular sized tombstone. It consecrates that grave and has the effect of Ceremony (Funeral Rites) for 7 days.

Great ideas. I used to give my players in - game rewards. Like buildings, a piece of terrain, or stuff from the trinket list with hidden uses like opening a special chest or something. Usually players want powerfull stuff but they just kill their imagination with that. Not so much heroic. I remember inventing s pair of shackes that had no keyhole. The way to open them was by cutting the air between the shakles with a ghost sword. Cutting the spell and allows the spellcaster to use his/hers powers again. I also remember creating a kind of puzzle quest with a beholder in a hidden basement of an abandoned manor. Great days.

Grappling hook: twice a day, when the command word is spoken, the grappling hook flies in a straight line up to 90 feet in a direction you choose before falling to the ground, stopping early if it impacts against a solid surface. If the hook would strike a creature, that creature must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the object strikes the target and stops moving. When the hook strikes something, both the object struck and the hook take 3d8 bludgeoning damage. The hook has 15 hit points that regenerate each day.

Sigil Ring This ring appears to be normal jewelry or a signet ring. With a mental command a small illusionary sigil can be made to appear just above the ring. If pressed onto a surface as an action, the sigil will last one hour before fading. When the ring is created, the sigil design is set and cannot be changed. This ring is used by secret societies as a passcode and/or a signal left on an object. In some lands, the nobility will use Sigil rings with their signet engraved on it as well as their signet design in the illusionary sigil. Another use of prestidigitation.

Marvelous Messkit Excuse me fine sir, you have the air of an audacious adventurer. Righting wrongs and finding tresure is hard, famishing work. And when it is not your turn to cook, do you really want to taste the slop that you are given at meals? No sir, you have refined tastes, which is why I have just the thing for you. The Marvelous Messkit is just what you desire. Hear me out sir, yes it looks like the same tin box with cup, spoon, and knife that any outfitter will try to foist off to you, but this my fine, noble gentleman is much more than that. When your food and drink is placed in the kit, you can select the desired temperature, taste, and feel of the food to match your wildest dreams. Coming back from guard duty to find cold, greasy, burnt stew waiting for you? Oh no good and fine sir. With this messkit you can make that disgusting stew taste like the finest meal you ever ate. Never have to choke down barely edible food on campaign ever again. So my worthy, brave, noble adventurer, how much is every meal being the best meal of your life worth to you? Another use of the prestidigitation cantrip on a messkit to change the taste and temperature of food placed in it.

Tent of Warning This plain two person tent has an Alarm spell embedded into the weave of the canvas. Once the tent is set up, the rite of claiming the 10ft squares around the tent can be completed at any time, to activate the 8 hour Alarm spell. The rite to activate the Alarm spell can only function twice a day for up to a total of 16 hours of coverage. The usual procedure is the perform the rite before sundown and again 8 hours later for full coverage during the night, but it is not required to use this timing. The Alarm spell covers the 10ft squares around the tent as well as above and below the tent. The alarm can be set to both occupents if desired, but both occupants must perform the rite together. The Tent of Warning has the same mental and audible warnings as the Alarm spell. I figure a two person tent is 10ft on a side, so this does mean that the Alarm spell is a 30ft on a side cube when including the tent, but that should not be a bad thing. This would be great for a travelling merchant that uses a two person tent as a small stall for merchandise.

Biforus Lectulo This folding bed is highly prized by travellers. It comes in small, medium, and large creature sizes. While a smaller creature can use a larger Biforus Lectulo, a larger creature can not use a smaller folding bed except as a seat. When a command word is spoken/whispered, the bed will unfold from it's 6 inch by 8 inch by 4 inch thick box to the proper sized feather bed with an included pillow, two sheets, and a blanket. When the second command word is spoken/whispered, the bed will fold up back into the box leaving any excess materials/creatures that were on the bed on the floor by the box. It is highly advised for Biforus Lectulo owners to keep the command words a secret and to only whisper the words when others may hear them. The folding bed weighs 10lb folded and 50lb unfolded. If the box is in a small space when it unfolds, it pushes against any obstacles with a force of a 14 strength. It will unfold as much as it can in an enclosed space, stopping when it can unfold no more. This should fit in a backpage fine and folded weighs the same as a bedroll and blanket.

Bayra Flask A beer made with doughy bread heavy in yeast and flavored with honey, this drink can support the nutritional needs of one medium size creature for a day. Creatures with the brewing proficiency can take 5sp of materials to make a Bayra Flask that will sell for 1gp. It takes 5 weeks to make a Bayra batch, so it is usually made in at least barrel quantities (40 gallons), which is enough for 320 flasks. The materials cost for a barrel of Bayra is 160gp and a barrel of Bayra is sold for 320gp. Cost 1gp/flask Weight 1lb/flask (barrel full of Bayra weighs 400lbs) The episode of "Jaynestown" in the scifi show Firefly is one of our favorites. I had heard of beer than sustained the workers in ancient Egypt and Mudder's Milk in Firefly is more of the same. This cuts the weight of rations in half, but is twice as expensive. Great for those long trips or for stocking up the ship to feed your sailors.

Brindle's Bit and Bridle of Benevolent Excursions Brindle could never remember the roads and trails to take for his travels as a minstrel. Songs he had heard once in passing, he could faithfully play again years later, but directions...alas, he was hopeless. During a particularly powerful storm, he sought shelter at a wizard's tower. The wizard's wife was in failing health and she was not expected to last the night no matter the ministrations of the wizard or the cleric of his faith. Brindle had traveled the roads of her youth and remembered songs that she fondly loved. The wizard was grateful for the joy his wife had on her final night, so two months later a courier delivered the first ever Brindle's Bit and Bridle of Benevolent Excursions to Brindle. Once Brindle found his way to a town, village, castle, city, etc, he never had to worry of finding it again. While in civilized, highly developed lands there are well marked roads providing guidance, travelers in most realms rely on written or memorized directions. With Brindle's Bit and Bridle of Benevolent Excursions, you never need worry if it was left at the stream or right at the fork in the road. Once the bridle is linked to the horse and owner by the horse wearing it for a day as the owner rides for that day, the bit and bridle can guide the horse to any location that the rider has physically traveled to. If the horse is coming from another direction that the rider took to the location, a Wisdom Survival check with advantage is made by the horse and rider when required and the best of the checks is used to navigate to the location. The rider does not have to provide input to the horse for directions and can be asleep or even incapacitated once the command to go to the location is given. If placed on the leading horse/donkey/mule/pony in a draft train, the bridle works similarly to take a vehicle to a location. This is a boon to travelling merchants that can craft in their vehicle while the bit and bridle guides the horses/donkeys/mules/ponies to the next location.

Scroll Cases of Sending A matched set of jeweled bone scroll cases that are magically linked. Anywhere on the same plane, the writing on a sheet of vellum or paper (both sides) inserted in one case will appear on the blank vellum or paper in the other scroll case in one round. Writing on vellum can transfer to paper and the reverse. If there is not enough blank paper or vellum in the other scroll case, randomly determine what sheets are sent if multiple sheets are inserted at the same time. If new paper or vellum is added to the other scroll case, then any untransfered sheets of writing will be sent if they are still in the scroll case. Either scroll case can send to the other and maps/drawings on one sheet are transferred as well. Magical writing, like a spell scroll or a sheet with a magical spell cast on it, can not be sent between spell cases. Pages of a spell book will not transer between cases. Pages with invisible writing will not transfer the invisible writing, but any normal writing will be sent. For pages with Illusionary Script, the decoy message is sent, but not the original hidden text. If a page with Illusionary Script is left in the scroll case until the spell duration ends, then the original hidden text will be written to a new blank sheet in the other scroll case. Each scroll case can hold a maximum of 10 sheets of paper or 5 sheets of vellum or some combination of both. Great for the person that hired the players to send messages to them. Or for far flung locations to stay in touch. Or for a merchant to copy a receipt/contract for the customer. Definitely don't want to send spells or double scrolls this way.

I played a character in a one-shot who was built entirely around using mundane items. He was a human variant dex-based fighter with the tavern brawler feat, and he didn't carry any weapons. But he did have a really fancy hat. We ended up defeating Krampus (this was a Christmas campaign) by luring him in to a house that we had Kevin-McAllistered. Alright, on to my list of minor magic items! Knightly Shovel - This shovel can be used as a martial weapon that deals 1d6+1 magical piercing/slashing/bludgeoning damage (your choice, depending how you strike). You can also place both feet on the top of the spade and use this weapon to bounce on the ground, 10' in to the air. While bouncing, you can direct your bounce in any direction at a speed of 20' per round, and can attempt to land on top of a creature (DC12 DEX), dealing 1d8+1 piercing damage. Coin Purse of Holding - This item looks like a regular coin purse, and weight .1 lb. Any coins place in the purse are held in a pocket dimension, similar to a Bag of Holding, but this purse will also convert money in to the largest denominations. (10 copper coins will be transmuted in to one silver, 10 silver coins in to one gold, etc.) The purse can hold the equivalent of 1000 gold. When you reach inside, you can pull out money in any denomination desired. The purse will not accept any items besides precious metal that has been minted in to coins. (This one is a great way to handwave the process of making change, the weight of gold, and all that other boring stuff. Pretty common magic item, but I limit them one per PC. After the 1000g, I'll make them explain how they transport wealth.) Blink Ball Bearings (BBB's) - This sack of 100 ball bearings appears to be normal, aside from a simple magical sigil on the bag that faintly glows. If all 100 BBB's are outside of the bag, a command word can be spoken, and all the BBB's that are within one mile of the bag are magically teleported inside of the bag. If used as ammunition for a sling or similar weapon, the BBB's do NOT count as magical damage. Crow Crow Bar - This appears and functions like any regular crowbar normally. This item has two charges, and regains 1d4-2 at the start of each day. If all charges are expended, there is a 5% chance that the crowbar will break. When a command word is spoken, the crowbar sprouts wings, and can be ordered to fly to a location (speed 60') and pry two objects apart by making a strength check against the objects with a strength of 20. The crowbar can not attack on its own, and will return to the user immediately after completing its task. It can be given multiple tasks within the 5 minutes.

Exemplum Crystal / Orb / Rod / Staff / Wand This arcane focus item has a secondary property of copying non-magical writing and then later reproducing the writing on a blank book or scroll. When a command word is spoke and the arcane focus is waved over one or more pages and/or scrolls all non-magical writing will be copied into the focus. It can store up to 500 pages/scrolls safely. Spellbooks and scrolls can not be copied, but magical writings like glyphs, symbols, etc will copy the designs, but not the magical energies to make the glyphs, symbols, etc work when copied. If Illusionary Text is copied, only the decoy text will be copied as the hidden text will not be seen unless a magic like true sight is used by the holder of the Exemplum focus. You can transfer the copied writing once by placing blank books and/or scrolls down, speaking the command word, and waving the arcane focus over the blank books/scrolls to write the copied pages. Writing the pages from the arcane focus into a book/scroll destroys that page in the arcane focus. It takes one round per page/scroll to copy and/or write the page/scroll. The holder of the Exemplum focus does not need to know the language of the page/scroll to be able to copy the text. This will also copy pictures and drawings. Every page/scroll over 500 pages has a 1% cumulative chance of destroying the focus after the page is copied. A focus so destroyed, loses all the info stored in the focus. So the 501st page copied has a 1% chance of destroying the focus, the 502nd has a 2%, the 503rd has a 3% chance, etc. The absolute maximum number of pages that can be copied by a Exemplum focus is 599, but that is very unlikely to be reached as the arcane focus will likely be destroyed before then. Divination magic can be used to determine how many pages an Exemplum focus has copied, but divination magic is not always reliable. Nice way to copy books for yourself as a mage. The DM decides how exact the divination magic is on how many pages have been copied from the 'exact number' to something vague like 'some pages have been copied' as the DM sees fit.

Tome of Expertise This large tome weighing 6lb has the accumulated knowledge of one or more experts in a field. Studying this book for one week and then having it on hand to reference when using the skill or tools, allows the proficiency bonus to be added to the ability check like you had proficiency in that skill or tool. If you have proficiency in that skill or tool already, referencing the book gives an additional 1/2 of your proficiency bonus to the ability check. Referencing the tome while using a skill or ability takes twice as long to complete the task. Each tome is dedicated to a different skill or tool. Tomes of history, nature and religion have various levels of detail, with a smaller focus having greater detail. Nature Tomes of Expertise may detail a region, continent, or planet. History tomes may detail a family, city, region, country, etc over a particular time period (current, old, ancient, etc). Religion may deal with a deity, multiple deities, a pantheon, or multiple pantheons. The following skills and tools may have a Tome of Expertise Arcana History Medicine Nature Religion Alchemy Bowyer/Fletcher Brewing Carpentry Cobbling Cooking Leatherworking Masonery Weaving So this is mostly useful in downtime as it is a very large book and not likely to be carted around much. I tried to pick skills and tools that I think would be useful for researching in a book while doing a task.

If you need more ideas you can always check out the "Special Features" section of the magic items section on page 141 of the DMG. It has 4 tables that offer fun ideas on how to give items a little more flavour, you can add these to any item to give it fun unique qualities doesn't need to just be magical items. Like "Who Created It or Was Intended to Use It?" - "What Is a Detail from Its History?" "What Minor Property Does It Have?" "What Quirk Does It Have?" For example you could find an Battleaxe that was made by dwarves and has Dwarven runes worked into its design, that was once used as a badge of high office. The axe is used to unlock a container, chamber, vault, or other entryway. Or a sword made for undead crafted from parts of corpses. It feels cold to the touch. It was used in religious ceremonies dedicated to a god of undeath that whispers murderous intent to its bearer, granting a +2 bonus to initiative if the bearer isn't incapacitated, but only works if fresh blood from a humanoid has been applied to it within the past 24 hours or a Fishing Pole that used to belong to a legendary fisherman. It was used to commit a great act of evil, known as the fish genocide where they caught all the fish in a particular lake, that glows whenever a fish is within 120 feet. That grumbles and mutters about how much it doesn't like you when you don't use it for x amount of days.

i always used the bells and whistles as the magic alarms - i like the chalk idea, didnt think of that one. the bell could be placed at certain points around the camp and if any malignant entity passed it, it would ring in the owner's ear, waking them or whatnot. pitons (pie-tuns) for climbing and tent stakes, magical application is that they will not come out of the ground (or wherever theyre sunk, like the cracks of a castle wall or a cliffside) without the owner's intention, basically offering a fort save in the event of something trying to knock you down the mountain or blow away your tent. speaking of tents, i always use tarps, rope, and stakes, so tarps are another mundane item. make it magical by making it un-tearable. owlbears can't shred your tent in the night, or you can use it to catch someone who is falling, or a myriad other things. i love this list. thanks a bunch.

So, been busy, but I have thought of some more mundane magic items. Wineskin of Bacchus This wineskin of made of the finest, soft tanned deerskin and holds the equivalent of a bottle of wine (1 1/2 pints). Once per day after dawn, if filled with water, this wineskin can reproduce any wine up to 10gp per bottle in value that the bearer has tasted at any time in the past at the bearer's mental command. If the wine is poured into another container or glass, it lasts for an hour before abruptly turning back into water. The wineskin filled weighs 2lbs and it weighs 1/2 lb empty.

Cyganski Wagon This large magical wagon (7' by 14' without draft animals) is a boon to travelling families, parties, and merchants. When the hard covered wagon is enchanted, you determine the extra-dimensional 1,500 square foot floor plan, 60 - 5'x5' squares that are 10' tall. The usual plans involve connected rooms rather than rooms with hallways. The exterior walls, floors, ceilings of the extra dimensional space are made of stone that you can attach things to and any interior walls are made of wood. Basic wooden doors are provided as desired in the plan when it is first determined, but you can modify/repair the doors/interior walls later if desired using normal construction techniques. A continual flame in a shuttered lantern hangs in every room and rooms large enough will have multiple continual flame lanterns every 20 feet to brightly light the vast majority of the room. The rooms are not furnished, but you can provide any furnishings you like. You can store items in the rooms, but food and drink spoil as normal as it is not sustained. Fresh air is sustained from the Plane of Air in closed areas like it came through an open window, even though the exterior walls, floors, ceilings have no windows. The extra-dimensional space will keep a comfortable temperature, no matter the weather on the outside of the wagon, unless the door leading to the extra-dimensional space is left open. In the case of an open door, the temperature in the extra-dimensional space will shift over an hour to 10 degrees closer to normal than the outside temperature. If the extra-dimensional space is then closed back up, it will take one hour per 10 degrees to get back to the normal temperature. When the space is created, you can include the internal wagon space into the extra-dimensional space as one contiguous floor plan or have a door inside or outside that leads to the extra-dimensional space. The door to the extra-dimensional space can be a normal or double door, determined at creation of the space. The normal procedure is to have the internal space of the wagon to look normal and to have a door to the extra-dimensional space be located on the inside forward bulkhead behind a tapestry/curtain. Then to a casual inspection of the wagon, the extra-dimensional space is not apparent. Dispel Magic cast on the wagon blocks access in or out of the extra-dimensional space for 1 minute. An Anti-magic Field blocks access in or out of the extra-dimensional space as long as the wagon is in the Anti-magic Field. Spells that permit travel on the same plane (Arcane Gate, Teleport, Dimension Door, etc) work in the extra-dimensional space, but will not transfer you into or out of the extra-dimensional space. Spells that travel between planes can move you into and outside the extra-dimensional space. You must know of and have been at least described the extra-dimensional space to be able to travel to it using spells. A 'I want to travel to that wagon's extra-dimensional space if it has one' is not sufficient detail to travel there using extra-dimensional travel. If the wagon's extra-dimensional space is ever permanently dispelled, all contents are expelled to the spaces nearest the door to the extra-dimensional space. Bringing a Bag of Holding, Heward's Handy Haversack, Portable Hole, Belt of Many Pouches, or similar item past the door to the extra-dimensional wagon space, instantly destroys both items and opens a gate to the Astral Plane. The gate originates at the door of the extra-dimensional space in the wagon. Any creature within 10 feet of the gate and all items in the extra-dimensional wagon space and wagon are sucked through it to a random location on the Astral Plane. The gate then closes. The gate is one-way only and can't be reopened.

Philana's Phenomenally Pleasing Pigments This series of paints in primary colors can be combined to paint beautiful portraits and landscapes. The ability check for creating the painting has advantage. Once the portrait or landscape commissioned by the owner is complete, the other magic begins. If the painting is a portrait, the owner of the portrait can change the portrait to anyone that the owner has met. So while you can have the original portrait of your loved one, you can change the portrait to your mother-in-law when she comes to visit to please her while she is there and change it back once she is gone. It takes one minute for the painting to rearrange into the new portrait. For landscapes, you can change the landscapes to any type you have seen. So if you have a landscape of a forest, you can change it to a beach, desert, mountains, etc. It does not have to be a scene you have seen, but you do have to have experienced that type of terrain at once. Paintings, murals, pictures made with these pigments are highly desired by the well off. If the owner sells the painting, then the magical changing ability moves to the new owner, so artists that make these painting without a commission can still sell magical paintings. Of course once those with a disdain for the fine details of property ownership and/or those that sell snake oil discovered the magical changeability of these pigments, having your vehicle covered in a magical mural would be a great idea. The authorities looking for the wagon covered in a forest of pines are likely to pass without comment of a wagon covered with a meadow of flowers.

Miraculous Cooking Pot This 10lb iron pot with lid can hold up to one gallon of liquid for making soups, stews, and casseroles. You activate the Miraculous Cooking Pot by putting the prepared and/or unprepared ingredients into the pot, putting the pot onto the heat source with the lid attached, and describing the result you want. The more prepared the ingredients and the closer the ingredients are to what is needed for the recipe, the better the dish will taste and appear. The pot lid attaches to the side of the pot and lifts and/or closes as needed. The pot can be used 3 times per day. The pot can clean itself 3 times a day when soap and water are put into the pot and the cleaning command word is spoken. Miraculous Stove The Miraculous Stove is made of iron, weighs 500lb, and is almost always a fixture in a building. The stove has 4 cook plates able to handle iron pots and pans, with one oven large enough for a large turkey. Like the Miraculous Cooking Pot, putting the prepared or unprepared ingredients into the pan(s) and/or pot(s), placing the pan(s) and/or pot(s) onto the stove plates, and describing the result you want will activate the Miraculous Stove to cook your meal. Each plate on the stove can be used individually and each up to 3 times a day each. The oven uses the same format as the stove top plates, but you can put in from 1 to 4 pans (a large turkey in a pan takes up all the space so no other pans will fit) and can be used 3 times a day. If the pots and pans are placed on the plates and/or in the oven with soap and water in the pots/pans, the stove will clean everything and itself when the command word is spoken. The oven can do this cleaning three times a day.

Stone of Honing This fine quality whetstone imparts a special quality to a weapon with the slashing or piercing property. The stone can only impart this double range critical for one weapon per day. When used after dawn, the weapon will gain a double range critical (19-20) for the next critical hit rolled. The weapon only benefits from this double range critical once and this can only stack with one other effect that doubles the range of a critical strike (18-20 together). If no critical hit is struck that day, the weapon must be honed with the stone again the next day as the effect dispates with the dawn. When used on arrows and/or crossbow bolts, the stone can impart the special quality up to 5 arrows or bolts. But when fired the effect is lost whether or not a critical is struck, so you can not reuse fired arrows hoping to strike a critical. This should not be so bad as you only get the extra critical range once per day. Yes, if you are really, really lucky, you can get more than one critical with your 5 arrows/bolts, but it is not likely. You are looking at roughly a 1/50 chance for 2 criticals, a 1/1000 for 3, a 1/34000-ish for 4, and a 1 in 3.2 million chance at all five being criticals. Although this will synergize with True Strike as you can get a 20 out of two dice roughly 9.5% of the time, instead of a 20 being a 5% chance on one die. This may make True Strike actually useful for ranged combat with a Stone of Honing on 5 of your arrows/bolts, except the range on True Strike is only 30ft so is still of limited use, unless you are up on a wall or something.

Two more items. The Foaming Tankard and Covert Staff Foaming Tankard This horn tankard is a favorite among dwarves and those who like beer and ale with a meal. The foaming tankard can chill, warm, and/or flavor any drink poured inside. But what really makes this tankard popular, is that three times a day, you can speak a command word and fill the tankard with beer or ale. So while a dwarf will likely drink more than 3 beers a day, it does provide some beer when you are away from the keg. Basically a tankard with a continuous prestidigitation effect for any liquid inside and a modified create water spell that makes roughly 3 quarts of beer/ale instead of 10 gallons of water. Covert Staff This wooden or metal staff greatly prized by those who would like a weapon readily at hand, but do not want to advertise that they have a weapon at hand. The quarterstaff when stored, is a rod 1 1/2 inches in diameter, 3 inches long, and weighs 1lb, so it fits in a pouch. When a mental command is given, it extends to a 1 1/2 inches in diameter, by 6 ft long quarterstaff that still weighs one pound, but acts as a normal, non-magical quarter staff. A second mental command shrinks the staff back into it's carry size. A third mental command can change the Covert Staff into a 12ft pole, which used in combat is a 1d6 bludgeoning weapon with the reach and two-handed properties. Based on the Minbari Pike in the Babylon 5 TV show. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iXmsyKWOhsbQhMo.html

Belt of Water This blue leather belt is a sturdy and thick like you would see used in a Belt of Giant's Stength. This magical item is for use by underwater creatures that can not breathe air and want to travel on the surface. When worn and exposed to air the belt will secrete a sheen of water over the creature that provides fresh water (salt or fresh as necessary) to breathe for travel above the sea. The water is continually circulated over the creatures body providing an endless supply of water for breathing. If donned by a creature that can not breathe water, the creature gets a DC 10 Dexterity save to hold their breath before the water covers their nostrils. If they make the Dexterity save, they can hold their breath for 1 minute plus an additional minute for each point of a Consititution bonus. If they fail the Dexterity save, the creature immediately starts drowning and must start making DC 10 Constitution saving throws every round until removed from the water. Each successful Constitution saving throw means that they gasped some air (or breifly held their breath if totally submerged) in their struggle to breathe. Each failed Constitution saving throw causes 1d6 damage, that is not negate by any resistance, and counts one towards the three Consti needed to die of drowning. Once three failed Constitution saves has been made, consectutive or not, the creature dies of drowning. If at any time the creature is removed from the water source, the need for Constitution saves is ended. The Belt of Water can be removed as an action by the wearer or any in contact with the wearer and as soon as the belt is removed, the sheen of water sloughs off the creature allowing normal air breathing or in the case of a creature that only breathes water, they start drowning using the rules above but reversed for water instead of air. Aquae Vitae Cincture requires attunement This glossy blue cincture appears to be a sturdy, thick leather belt like you would see used in a Belt of Giant's Stength. If closely examined, you will find that the cincture is made of a leather like substance covered in very fine scales. The magical item is for use by underwater creatures that can not breathe air and want to travel on the surface. When worn and exposed to air after attunement, the cincture will secrete a sheen of water over the creature that provides fresh water (salt or fresh as necessary) to breathe for travel above the sea. The water is continually circulated over the creatures body providing an endless supply of water for breathing. While out of the water an Aquae Vitae Cincture allows a base 20ft land movement speed if a creature has no land movement speed, otherwise use whichever base land movement speed of the creature or the cincture that is greater. The creature also has the ability to make normal attacks and has normal vision above the water. If at any time the creature is removed from the water source, the need for Constitution saves is ended. The Aquae Vitae Cincture can be removed as an action by the wearer or any in contact with the wearer and as soon as the belt is removed, the sheen of water sloughs off the creature allowing normal air breathing or in the case of a creature that only breathes water, they start drowning using the rules above but reversed for water instead of air.

Everlasting Torch/Lantern/Lamp A torch or lantern with a continual flame spell cast on the torch or in the lantern (bullseye, hooded, or a lamp). The torch, lantern, or lamp shines the light at the ranges normally for the type, rather than the continual flame range. A great item for a low level group as your light doesn't go out unless covered and you can use the oil for throwing instead of in the lantern/lamp. Having the lanterns and lamp have a bit more range than the spell, should not be game breaking.

Frenum Cibaria This bit and bridle has a strong conjuration aura. When placed on a beast of burden, the bit and bridle will conform to the proper size from a small beast to a huge beast. Once per day upon a spoken command word, the bridle will pour forth a day's feed for the beast. During the day, when the beast is thirsty, the bridle will provide water directly into the beast's mouth. This water is sufficient to provide for the needs of a beast traveling a normal day's distance, under a light encumbrance in temperate conditions. Hotter than normal temperatures and/or heavier encumbrance loads will require additional water to be provided outside what the Frenum Cibaria can provide. A beast can only benefit from one Frenum Cibaria per day.

Message Whistle This necklace with a signal whistle attached is a magical messaging device. The bearer of the whistle can whisper a message to up to eight creatures as an action as per the stats of Message cantrip. You can either use an action to whisper one message to all the linked creatures and have to wait 10 rounds to send any more messages or one message to one creature with your action every round. Each day, up to eight creatures can hold the whistle and speak the command word to be linked to the whistle for that day. The linking lasts until the dawn of the next day, when creatures will need to link to the whistle again. You can change which creatures are linked to the whistle before the dawn the next day, by having the creature to be removed hold the whistle and speak the command word. The new creature can then link to the whistle by holding the whistle and speaking the command word. If you have less than eight creatures linked to the whistle, then any creature can be added by holding the whistle and speaking the command word. If a creature dies, then the link is broken. A use of the message cantrip. To not make it overpowered, the sending a message to all the linked has a 1 minute wait before sending another message of any type. It does take an action to send a message, so small unit close combat would not benefit much. The communication before combat starts would be invaluable. As well as combat with larger numbers of troops as the various commanders can keep in touch with this item while the soldiers fight.

Seriously stop taking credit for other people's work, this isn't the first time I've noticed this behavior on this channel. Also decanter of endless water (or waterskin with a portal to the elemental plan of water... I can't roll my eyes hard enough to express how done with this channel I am) is one of the most potentially broken or powerful items in the game! If you had read even a single forum about it you'd know.

I have never ran a module, I don’t know magic items off the top of my head (except the deck of many things... and I’m trying to even list off more here... and I can’t... gauntlets of ogre strength?? Idk) BUT with that... I don’t know about things like noon touched sword or rope of entanglement, I have heard of the decanter of endless water but I am not trying to pawn off that idea as my own... just cite it as a reference to show others what COULd happen. This entire concept is to just take mundane items and add a little pinch of cool flare. That’s all I always reference my inspiration if I got something from somewhere/ someone else led me down a train of thought, I do it multiple times. No I don’t go on forums and no I don’t know about default magic items in D&D, I just try to create content that inspires creativity as I have been inspired by so many others... if this rubs you the wrong way this much, then I am not the channel for you. Best wishes

I 100% run homebrew rules, but I know the items and rules that are part of the game. I'm not a professional, but you claim to be. Let's put it this way, your channel is DC 5 because it's for 0th level players, and a joke to anyone who knows what they're talking about.

I don't want mundane crap, don't waste my time. If it not magic it stays on the floor not worth my time. Give me gold or give me magic.

Shawn O I also try to think of what items my players have to give them cool ways to use it. So creatively using a mundane item can lead to some “magical” experiences lol But how do you know the item isn’t actually magical? It could be magic and you didn’t know it?! And just left it on the floor 😆
