It’s not just redesigns. Some of the show writers destroyed their personalities from cool to obnoxious. So much so that it’s impossible to watch the series all the way through

I’ve never liked that CalArts style and that show was annoying from every single angle (lousy voice, acting, horrible, animation, serious, lack of a plot, and worst of all it never shut up.) Seriously was the type of cartoon that my two-year-old nephew wouldn’t even be able to get any entertainment out of

Couldn’t agree more about All Engines Go. Parents, those of us who grew up in the 80s, 90s and in my case 2000, and Britt Allcroft can all agree that this is NOT Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends. The Reverend Awdry may not have liked the direction the show was going when he died in 1997, but THIS would have him turning round and round in his grave.

As a long-time fan of Thomas & Friends, these redesigns done to every character in “All Engines Go!” is the exact reason why I overlook this aspect of the show. The new 2D style just doesn’t work, & I think the Rev. W. Awdry would have hated it himself too.

-Knuckles: This is an arm. -I never heard of this Rugrats show. -There was an American Sailor Moon? It looks like something else entirely. -5:06 This happened literally. -I hate Ash's redesign. I find the series less enjoyable because of it. Why did they change it? -12:08 Nostalgia Critic: Wow, you look nothing like your original designs! -Not only does Teen Titans Go have a worse design but it's also worse in general. It does not feel like the original. -He Man wearing pants is one thing but Skeletor looks terrible.

Aka Trains Hastings Over Music Around Sodor All Trains from Sodor and character perform in a band in the parade Nia and Rebecca as flag twirlers been forcing too much spinning the flags cause them to fly into a blimp says Mattel Mattel in the died accident but Nia and Rebecca survive so hoping that Thomas and Friends will own by another company

Teen Titans Go was a mistake, and so was Thomas & Friends All Engines Go.

The supremely depressing thing about Teen Titans Go! is that while the original series lasted 5 seasons (with people to this day hoping a 6th Starfire-centric season will emerge), Teen Titans GO! is on its 8th season, and shows no sign of loosing steam. While thats great for the people involved who continue to have a steady income... TTG is doing a lot to effectively poison the audiences perception of the characters, meaning if they start with TTG and one day move into comics... they are in for a horrendously rude awakening when they find out their favourite characters are nothing like the TTG versions. Also, the success of TTG is probably why WB doesn't feel like having a go at a more mature Teen Titans series or a revamp of the original... that and ofc YJ, but I believe there is plenty space for both as long as they are not released as direct competition to one another, even if toy sales is what decided what shows live and die these days.

You make a good point; I've been too distracted by hating Go! so I didn't realise that both a more 2003-like Teen Titans show and TTG could co-exist, thus pleasing a wider audience. Yet sadly, I doubt we will ever get the Starfire season 6 for Titans*, so the madness of TTG will be all we will get because it is super cheap to animate, super cheap to write, and has infinite easier-to-make merchandising opportunities. *and let's be honest, that direct-to-video movie was an underwhelming way to wrap things up. Also, the TT and TTG crossover was essentially a repeated middle finger to people who didn't enjoy Go!

Teen titans go is a minne figurines and so garbage literally just throw it away That's the crime they did with the original version of the 2003 version and make it obnoxious 😂

One of the biggest crimes against animated series is the wide “cartoonisation” that started in the 2010s were companies especially WB owned took shows like the Ben 10 shows, Teen titan, Scooby Doo and other shows that had a sort of cool realistic animation style and just “dumbed” it down to a extremely stylized style that looked like something you would find in a show for 3 year olds or a cheaply made B show that would only last for one season at most

I don't mind Knuckles redesign. And and Ben 10, and Jake Longs (cause I never noticed it). And Aquaman and TTG cause it's alright for a more comedic kid oriented show. And I like the American Sailor Moon designs cause they look ridiculous. Plus the hover chair looks cool.

Exactly, I think Watchmojo just didn't do their research and just read an old comment about Omniverse and used that as their reason.

Beast machines is by no means a great series, but I will gladly take it absurdity over the likes of Transformers Energon with its stunted and lifeless CGI. Honestly, the only moments the characters looked good as when they would occasionally switch over to really cool cel animation like the humans.

@@tarryteeth But true to Nickelodeon form, they tried to outperform the other TMNT Series’. Example, I didn’t like their version of “City At War”, nor did I care for “Turtles Forever”. Also, some of the revamped characters weren’t as successful as their predecessors, and how it’s better to keep things the way they are. Guess that’s why many critics & fan preferred the earlier TMNTs, not including Next Mutation of course.

When I got to see season 2 of "American Dragon", I was like "What the hell is this?". Seriously, the redesign took a lot of the charm of the series. I loved Jake's dragon form, because it made him really look like a western dragon. The change in his dragon form design made him look more like an eastern dragon... even if he is Chinese-descendant.

Teen Titans Go is an equivalent to Caillou: like it as kids but realize how terrible it is as adults

The amount of disappointment I felt over TTG almost brought me to tears. Growing up LOVING the OG series and getting to meet the voice cast was one of the greatest memories I have. They left the series on such a cliffhanger and I was really hoping they’d continue with a real series…not a stupid, pointless excuse for a kids show.

@@Supasmartguy I think they do get threats. 😬 They are at least aware that TTG is often loathed by people who prefer the previous versions of the characters; I know they know because they've inserted jokes insulting people who don't like TTG. I don't threats are helpful, yet one would hope the showrunners would accept criticism. Though, I guess it doesn't matter what fans of TT want because TTG has a steady audience of babies and extremely forgiving people, thus justifying its low effort production.

With be cool Scooby do, even though I agree that it's not the best, could be a lot worse. Just think of "Velma". Zoinks!

If Y'all are looking for a show that feels like the OG Teen Titans. Like, it has a bunch of. teenagers that are total dorks, that mess up and yet learn and get better, has some awesome ladies, the big one that is just a big softie and loves to fight, the smart, agile one that tries to hide how he's a total goof, the little, cute one that gets into all shorts of trouble, the purple one that has a dark side and believes he's smarter then everyone else, the girl that is stronger then she looks that can and will kick your butt, tons of insane anime action, a team that loves each other and has strong friend/family vibes, then watch Rise of the TMNT. It's amazing and deserves more love.

the Thomas and friends all engines go to hell character designs should be at number one.

The reason is most often the toy companies. Redesigns means more variations often popular toys. The new He-man also was missing a tan....he looks more like Flash Gordon.

Be cool Scooby-Doo was intended to be a comedy. Hence the changes to the character designs. They were going for a more slapstick vibe and look

Honorable mention: Star Wars The Clone Wars- While it did fill in the gap between Attack of The Clones and Revenge of The Sith there was no excuse to go full on CGI with the art style of the Revamped Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series. Personally I would have preferred an art direction in the same vein as the OG Teen Titans since Star Wars The Clone Wars could be both full of comedy and dark themes when the situation called for it.

The VHS miniseries The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald gave the Hamburglar the most very drastic change. He went from spawning with all in a black and white striped prisoner outfit to a typically 90’s makeover like a street member with a blue denim jacket & red shorts 😆

Teen titans was the biggest offender for sure. Scooby doo now really looks like they are on drugs. Ash Ketchum from XYZ is easy the best design, sUn and moon was disgraceful

I don't mind Sailor Jupiter being black, but not being anime style just destroyed it. Teen Titans Go, no. I know it's a different style for Teen Titans with a different premise, but what were they smoking? Be Cool Scooby Doo, this is why LSD shouldn't be a part of the design process. Next in line is Velma, I still have PTSD over the pilot. I didn't mind the new Joker design. Less detailed, yes. But the aesthetic still remained. Beast Machine I liked. They did seriously take an almost entirely new direction, but I liked the upgrade as they weren't limited on humanoid robots. He-Man, yeah, didn't work. I was hoping to get a new He-Man action figure when my old one vanished, and at the time I didn't care. Today, yes. I care.

To be honest I don’t even mind about the change of Ash either of Sun and Moon or journey after he disappeared from the anime to get replaced

if i had 50 USD/GBP/Euro/any currency for every-time teen titin go makes another episode, I would have enough to buy a plot of land, and or get ticket a travel to another country, which may sound a lot, but yeah.

Hollywood may be facing Doomsday sooner than expected.

Ash's redesing on Sun and Moon series is nessesary because it is suppose to fit the environment theme and culture of Alola and the games themselves.

I was actually okay with ADJL’s Second season design. Also, points off for not even focusing much on the s2 aesthetic during that segment of the video.

The first few episodes it was a bit hard to except the new style of Ash. but that changed fairy fast, it started to look good with the smooths animations. Like the trains, the normal ones were partly nightmare inducing xD

Couldn't disagree more from the Ash one. I loved the simplified design for him in Sun and Moon since it made the animation a lot more fluid and resulted in a lot of fun animation moments.

I actually liked loonitics

I HATED Tom 4.0 He was such a design setback from the others. Toonami was Cartoon Network's after school anime block and it was how I, and probably many others, were introduced to it. I vividly remember getting off the bus and turning on the TV to Thundercats in its last minutes. Silverhawks was next with Toonami starting right after. It had a mini storyline that explained the iterations of Tom. I immediately did not like Tom 4.0 and his crew.

I was with y'all for most of this save for a few I disagree with, but y'all need to leave my Loonitics Unleashed alone. You guys forgot about the god-awful Thundercats one thst was like TTG

No. 16, this show and the movie about the magic railroad is exactly why I had to let this old part of my childhood for the better 🚂

With how hated Teen Titans Go is and how crazy fans of the original series are, I'm surprised no one's resorted to violence to end the show, like going on a mass shooting in the studio it's made in, or threatening the families of the showrunners.

I'm surprised that the showrunners of Teen Titans Go don't get death threats from fans on a weekly basis.

How dare you put Be Cool, Scooby Doo on this list instead of Velma. That entire show was an unnecessary redesign. I'd gladly take a version that feels like a parody over an outright insult to Scooby Doo as a whole like Velma is. And how DARE you insult Spectacular Spider-Man's Kraven's design. Many of as fans greatly enjoyed Kraven's new look. It fit with the world of Spectacular brilliantly.

I didn't notice a significant redesign in Ash Ketchum. He looks identical to earlier versions.

The first one.. I was fine with knuckles in Boom..sure he was kinda stupid (more so from his main line counterpart) but i was still fine with it..i actually liked Sonic Boom :T (i own some of the Boom games and comics) Edit: i was also fine with the designs of ash (pokemon) aswell..it was still him in personallity..so yea..i was fine with it :T (still bummed that hes done with his journies though)

For TNBA, I say the entire cast except for Scarecrow

Gen 7 as a whole felt like an attempt to pander to younger kids. While X and Y weren't exactly as serious as gen 5, they still had more adult moments. We go from X and Y's main antagonist attempting to either kill off the world, or force immortality onto it (depending on the version) to... Hawaii. The anime suffered equally, going from a major threat to an overly cartoonized world where everything loves everything else.

If only 14 was the worst treatment done to Scooby Doo.

Not sure I agree with beast machines. The whole point of the show was advancing and changing, having drastic redesigns fit the narrative. Plus even rat trap hates his new form, but it grew on him and he found it useful.

As someone who personally loves the Omniverse artstyle I knew that it would appear on this list. It's so different that you'd it assume it was a Reboot

The characters design in the newer version of teen titans go is a little weird, especially how they just made their heads bigger and their bodies smaller StarFire is basically a watermelon with a toothpick body, it’s real let down, make the characters look like more realistic people d@mn it

Yes, Ttg was already trash by redrawing the characters, which was what they had done to the 2006 teen titans it was a master piece of a show

this is older than TV but for a brief period in the late 40's Mickey Mouse was briefly given ears that worked in perspective. This was so unpopular that Disney has since tried to pretend it never happened.

Both of Thomas's designs were unsettling. I cannot hate it any more.

No. 14, incarnations like this remake show, the live-action theatrical and TV movie releases, and the "Velma" show is actually why I had to let go of this part of my childhood too 🐕
