Personally, I found it a bit slow until Chuck was killed off. That whole storyline dragged and dragged. I could rewatch Breaking Bad again and again but I have the feeling when I do one day rewatch BCS it will be with the fast forward buttons assistance.

Watched Better Call Saul out of curiosity, seriously thought the writing was the best ever. I have almost done watching Breaking Bad and I'm just at awe on how the writers of both the shows have done an amazing job in connecting them. The writers, well and truly deserve an Emmy.

Totally agree!

Better Call Saul doesnt take the easy way out on anything. They set themselves up for hard to write character and plot developments, even for minor characters like Krazy 8. Truly the best written show on television.

I loved how in some of the mall scenes in BCS they purposely pan over the Crazy 8 store ( I know it's a store irl) but details like that just point to the meticulous effort they put into the show.

The show makers make both of these shows’ quality just seem effortless. Like, it makes me think I could write a ground breaking tv show, that’s how easy they make it look. That’s the sign of masterclass writing

I love how in the scene with Tuco in breaking bad where he beats his goon to death, the dude who stops walt from moving anymore forward has a worried look on his face, instead of a typical angry goon face.

It's so great, now it feels like it's the main story and Breaking Bad is the story of the guy who came in and royally f*cked everything up

Fun fact, that Cinnabon in "Omaha, NE" is actually the Cottonwood Mall on the westside of Albuquerque. I was there as they were closing and getting ready to film BCS after hours.

Ive never seen a prequel become this successful

Also the scene where he tells homelander he's "nothing more than bad product" is awesome and chilling in a way. His character sounds nothing like Gus Fring, but the way he delivered the line so cold and deadpan, that was Fring!!!💚🤍

When Saul represents badger he confuses him with another client who pissed in a starbucks, in the second last episode of better call Saul, the cab drivers mum mentions that he got into some bad situations, including urinating somewhere she didn’t want to mention. Best reference imo

I saw one awesome Easter egg! The guy who runs the fast food is in both shows!

also in season 4 episode 6 of BCS, Kim says "I like it, I'm good at it" which is also like a half reference to the last episode of BrBa

"Lawyers... We're like health insurance. You hope you never need it. But man, not having it... No." That does sound like a nod!

I’m a flight attendant and recently had a work layover in ABQ. The Breaking Bad Store was so awesome! Tons of autographed items from the show and several of the cast members have been there to visit. Lots of memorabilia from both shows. It’s quite small but really a fun little stop if you’re a fan ☺️

Doesn’t Saul use the big inflatable thing on his office roof in BB that the kettlemens used at their dodgy setup in BCS…

A brilliant reference in my opinion is the intro to BCS s6 ep5, it is so similar to the meth cooking scene in BB episode: 4 days out. A shot of resin being poured even directly parodies the meth being poured onto a tray.

Another one to add is Dogg Paulson, Tuco’s business friend. Nacho and Tuco were selling crank but Tuco had some himself. Almost outta nowhere, Tuco pulled out a shotgun and shot Dogg in face. Later in Breaking Bad, Hank was telling about Tuco, Krazy 8 and Dogg Paulson.

they simply showed how terrifying lalo were in BCS, where it leads to saul almost cried gratefully when it wasn't lalo that kidnapped him

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are two of my most favorite series, because these are the only two series which are most realastic!

I was happy to see Lavell Crawford's dramatic weight loss in Better Call Saul. He's a great comedian and I want him to live a long life!

Mike eating pimento cheese sandwiches in both shows is the real winner.

Think about how smart the creators have to be to go back to a prequel and link everything up smh great work

My favourite hidden reference to breaking bad is that the name Jimmy uses as an alias to practice law, Saul Goodman, is the same name as Walter’s lawyer from breaking bad.

@@vietanhbui2358 well it’s a very subtle reference but some people think they’re the same person because Jimmy and Saul are never seen in the same place and Jimmy isn’t in breaking bad so there is some ambiguity however we don’t know for sure. Don’t get me started on Gene… or Kevin Costner for that matter.

Jimmy did look like Kevin Costner when he dressed up as Howard with Wendy.

I love that the thumbnail makes it seem like: did you know that Jimmy McGill is actually Saul Goodman from breaking bad!

I'm surprised Jimmy's asking Chuck in 305 if he had lung cancer would he have told his wife didn't make the list in connection to Walt's lung cancer. Then again, I never realized Jimmy found the Kettlemens in the same place where Walt shot Mike, and that now ranks way higher on my favorite easter egg list.

Ken Wins is still alive at the end of Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad and El Camino. So you could say that Ken…………….Wins

How the heck can Vince gilligan do this? He’s a god damned legend! I’ve NEVER watched anything that happens in the future first then the prequel after. The amount of work that goes into this has to keep them up at night! #criminallawyer I will cry when it’s done 😭

Also there’s a shop in the BCS shopping mall called Krazy8.

Interesting fact: Zafiro Anejo was created by the breaking bad team after product placements fell through. no brand owners of alcohol were keen on having them feature a product that would end up killing people after drinking it. its based on a real line of liquor called Hardy Cognac part of the perfection series which only had a very limited number made and is over 100 years old. last i checked these are worth up to $20k per bottle for the fire variation this fictional alcohol line resembles closest making their expensive and luxurious appeal accurate to the story

Issues I have with certain spin offs/prequel shows, is that they just so happen to explain every detail in the universe. Like how Anakin just so happened to build C-3PO. But this show has an abundance of them, and does them well.

The fact they didn’t forgot about his knees is impressive

#1: the main Character, Saul Goodman, appears in Breaking Bad. Glorious attention to detail by Vince. Bravo.

I recently watched BCS and starting now BB again. Watching both according to timeline puts a whole different light on the whole story. The way they made the characters and the whole series slowly more and more ruthless, managing to make the viewer reflect about it frequently is incredible.

Season 3 Esp 9 when Jimmy is acting like a mall walker before he gives Irene the new shoes there is a store in the background that say Crazy 8.

Venezia's Pizzeria is my favorite Easter egg... in Breaking Bad Season 3 The pizza that Walter throws on the roof of his house is from Venezia's Pizzearia. they had trouble with the slices going all over the place so tried using an uncut pizza and it worked, but you could see it wasn't sliced yet. in order to explain to the audience why it wasn't sliced, Vince Gilligan in Season 4 of Breaking Bad has Jesse asks Badger to buy breakfast for everyone at his party. Badger returns with a stack of pizzas from Venezia's. He claims that by not slicing their pizzas, the pizzeria passes the savings on to the customer and Jesse wonders out loud "How much does it cost to slice a pizza?" In Better Call Saul Season 4 Mr. Neff orders a cheese pizza and specifies that he wants it sliced.

Saul mentions Nacho even tho he’s long dead

Finishing off season 6 of Better Call Saul rn and the Ice Station Zebra Associates one 😭 I never realised, that's so well hidden!

Season 3 when Mike is sitting with this lady from the support group in the diner she is doing crossword puzzle. I think thats a reference to Skyler in breaking bad. The first time Walt met her she was doing crossword puzzle. Also she mentions a name: Esmarelda. Which is also a breaking bad callback when Skylar had a house party , Walt Jr is filming with his camera and Marie comes up and says to the camera Hi Esmarelda. And then Skyler says after you are born your name will be changed to Holly

Did anyone else catch the "Departure On the Sea Shore" painting, over the bed, in S6 Ep9 in the opening scene, as Saul is reciting, "One day we'll wake up... we'll know we can forget."???? This is the painting Walt sees over and over.

Saul almost bought Zafiro Añejo tequila as a celebratory drink with Kim for their prank until he saw judge casamiro with the arm cast

Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan are simply directing and writing geniuses

FUN FACT: In interviews, the writers refer to Ken by the name "Ken Wins" due to his license plate.

You see the tarantula in Todd's apartment in El Camino, too.

Nacho and lalo were written because of that seen on BB. Not the other way around. You could probably say that about the Kevin costner scene too

In the episode Fifi at the end of the episode the show mike has on the tv represents a lot about walter’s and skyler’s relationship, even the man’s name is Walter

I stopped by Loyola's when I was in Albuquerque a few weeks ago. It definitely isn't a real place you can eat at. It looked run down and had big cracks in the windows. Didn't look like anyone had eaten there in years.

BCS elevates BB in so many ways and expands upon the universe

I really thought that shooting a spin-off from BB was a terrible idea since BB was so great. BCS changed my mind : it is indeed on the same level (maybe higher sometimes) as BB. Now I would take any show in Albuquerque coming from Gilligan and Gould.

The max fountain in bcs was the same square pattern as the hospital floor in bb. .

The only reference I got was the Krazy-8 store logo in a flash forward of Saul

2:33 when Hector at the end of episode 6 went to the restaurant to negotiate with Mike, a bell ran that the food is ready before Salamanca enters, ringing any "bells"? ;)

the insane thing is that nail salon is actually at exactly that address....i have a very unique relationship with that salon.

Since Jesse knew Saul already he probably gets in trouble and uses him as his lawyer at one point

That's crazy to me. BB had SO many memorable scenes and dialouges, while i can barely remember those kinda scenes in BCS. Tho i also love the show, many things seems more unimpactfull and lightweight compared to BB.
