I often get asked where I'm from, so I wanted to share with the world about my country Bhutan. A small himalayan kingdom nestled in between two giants, China and India.
In today's video, I'm sharing THE TOP 15 PLACES TO VISIT IN BHUTAN.
1. Paro TaDzong
TaDzong is watchtower built in the year 1649 as a defence against the multiple Tibetan invasions. Today it is the national museum of Bhutan and it houses some of the finest bhutanese artworks.
2. Paro Takstang
Known to the outside world as the Tiger's nest, Legend has that the Buddhist Master Padmasambhava flew to this site on top of a flying tigress.
3. Suspension Bridges
Thangthong Gyalpo or the Iron Bridge builder built numerous iron chain suspension bridges in Bhutan in the late 1300s.
4. Heritage Homes
Bhutan is known for its unique architectural style of building with compressed mud and wood, without using any nails. My favourite heritage home is the house of Wang Sisina, built over 350 years ago and has been the ancestral home of 3 Desis(Political rulers of Bhutan prior to the Wangchuck Dynesty). There are many folklores and popular legends about this house. As a fan of Game of Thrones, i can draw some parallels to the Starks of Winterfell, or could it be the Lanesters?
5. Centenary Farmers Market
Farmers from all over the country gather to sell their fresh farm products in this bustling weekend market. The beautiful traditional cantilever bridge can take you cross the Wangchu river to the local bhutanese handicrafts and textiles market.
6. Changlimithang Archery Ground
In my fun facts about Bhutan video, I have mentioned the national sport of Bhutan is archery. If you haven't watched the video, please click here: • Part 2: Fun Facts abou...
An archery match can be a fun activity to watch, with lots of singing and dancing.
7. Explore Downtown Thimphu
Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan, and a financial and cultural hub of Bhutan. It is considered the fifth highest capital in the world by altitude and it is the only capital city without a single traffic light. Thimphu also has a vibrant night life scene with bars, karaoke lounges, live performances and night clubs.
8. Big Buddha or Buddha Dordenma
Visit the giant buddha statue called the Buddha Dordenma. Measuring up-to 51 metres tall, it is considered the largest sitting buddha statue in the world.
9. Memorial chorten
Memorial chorten or stupa is popular destination for the older generation who gathers at the site to socialize with friends while accumulating good deeds.
10. Hike to Wangditse
A hike to Wangditse monastery would offer you a different viewpoint of Thimphu. The well-built trails offer an easy and enjoyable hike with glimpses of the city through the beautiful forest.
11. Hot Stone bath
A Bhutanese hot stone bath is believed to have numerous health benefits. There are many places in Bhutan which offers this experience, depending on your budget you could opt for a high end five star hotel experience or a more rustic local one.
12. Dochula Pass
Dochula pass is located at an elevation of 3,100 metres or 10,200 ft offers an amazing 360-degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain peaks, among them is Mt. Masanggang the highest peak in Bhutan.
Explore the country’s first botanical park is which offers some of the most exotic Himalayan flowers including 28 different species of rhododendron.
13. Chimi Lhakang
Chimi Lhakang is adorned with numerous symbols of the phallas believed by the locals a symbol of prosperity and luck, used to ward off evil. This temple is also known as the “fertility temple” and it is popular among locals who wish to be blessed with a child.
14. Punakha Dzong All kings of Bhutan has been crowned at this site, and it was also here the current King and the Queen of Bhutan got married in the year 2011. The name of the dzong can be loosely translated as the palace of great happiness and bliss.
15. Punakha Dromche
The festival showcases the victories bhutanese warriors called Pazaps. won over the Tibetan invading forces in the 17th century lead by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the spiritual leader who unified the Country.

Very well made video. Even though I know a couple of people in Bhutan, they never presented the country to me with so much information. So, thank you for helping me to start planning my trip to Bhutan.
