TOP 15 Tallest Statues In The World

Ойын-сауық

Humans have been building statues since the dawn of civilization. Whether they wanted to ward off predators, strike fear into the hearts of invaders, worship a deity, or signify unity, there have been more statues throughout history than you can shake a finger at. The United States alone has over five thousand statues of historical figures alone, so you can imagine how many are spread across the entire world. And as time moves forward alongside human ambition and ingenuity, statues are only growing taller. And while works like the Venus de Milo and The Thinker will be forever ingrained in our collective memory, these massive statues absolutely refuse to be ignored. So join us for today’s video, where we look at the top 15 of the world’s tallest statues!

You see these fanatics didn't go around burning people alive or exclusively treat and clothe people only if they converted. Maybe learn what fanatic is about. Why don't you make the next video " Top 15 Religious Atrocities" ?

    One cannot help but be impressed with the deep and sincere devotion Buddhists have to their belief and the founder of their religion. I read that no one in world history is depicted artistically more than the Buddha.

    Some of that is likely due to the ten commandments from Christianity, saying not to create graven images. Though that is somewhat debated, and many don't follow that "commandment", as many Christian men and women wear crosses that bare Jesus (who in many version of the religion is God). But also realize that Buddha is also a title. There is the original, but as this video says, there are several people who've held the title. Also, many of the statues on the list are recent. I'm fairly certain the oldest one on the list is the Leshan Giant Buddha, with the next oldest being the Statue of Liberty, I believe. There have likely been other amazing statues lost to time, war, and deliberate destruction. I'm also a little disappointed the Great Sphinx of Giza didn't make it on the list.

    @@saitouhajime3 It seems to me both Muslims and Jews take the "no graven images" doctrine more seriously. Christian churches all over the world are filled with statues of Jesus, Mary, the saints, etc. On this list is the Christ in Rio but there are other gigantic statues such as "Christ Of The Ozarks" in the US and the Winged Mary in Quito, Ecuador are two examples. Yes I realize "Buddha" is a title, not just of the historical Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) but other Buddhas such as the Buddha of the future - Meitreya or the Bodhisattva Guanyin for two examples - all are subjects to devotion by Buddhists.

    Thanks for this spectacular video. It s a good video though. However, there are some trifling mistakes too to be corrected. For example, there is the caption 'temple spring buddha' appeared many times in wrong places. And there is one thing I wonder in the video as you described some statue being ranked as a second or thrid or fourth tallest statue but why they are ranked in lower order in your video. It s not a big mistake I just wonder. And I also felt like the height of the listed statues here were not arranged in order. But it s okay on this. I think maybe if meter height unit is used instead of feet unit it could be clearly apprehensible. Thank you.😍

    The Christ the Redeemer statue is awesome not because of its height, but because of its location and the effort put into constructing it on top of the Corcovado Mountain, and to withstand strong winds and most importantly, lightning strikes. It has a great view of Rio de Janeiro from above. None of the other statues mentioned here is in a similar commanding position.

    Next time I go to India I must go to Ayodhya again and see the changes. I saw the new temple complex on KZread when it was dedicated earlier this year. Looks like Hinduism has taken over the town again. Anyone know if Muslims still retain mosques in town? Can non-Hindus go into the new temple? Also as it looks like all the old town around the shrine has been demolished has a new building been built for the widows? Is the street from the railway station to the temple still in existence? Had a great time there looking in the sari shops. If anyone knows can you update me please?

    My bestfriends growing up- her dad was a paramedic. He was in his 40's when he got to the stage of phenominal, following Gods law and what the patient wanted.. The problem is, most medics are young- early 20's and even late teens. and in truth, by the time they get to late 30's or 40's when they start to care about Gods law, and life after earth, their backs go out and many disability retire.. all of that lifitng throughout their career catches up to them..

    Pls check your facts, There are 33 categories of deities described in Hinduism. But 33 koti does not mean 33 crore or 330 millions , but 33 goddesses of higher order (Type). dev means possessed with divine qualities, of which 12 are Aditya,11 Rudra,8 Vasu,2 Ashwani Kumar.

    This makes me curious about a few things: 1. What defines a statue? Is a statue with internal architecture a statue, or a building? 2. How do we measure the height of a statue? Some statues like the Statue of Liberty have massive pedestals, should these pedestals be considered the starting point for measurements?

  • @BriefOutreach

    @BriefOutreach

    Yes, Pedestals are considered part of the statue and are measured together.

  • @sm00thgames63

    The pedestals are as important as the rest of the statue, after all it needs to rest somewhere so there's design and engineering going into it's building process, just like with the statue sitting on top of it.
